"Hello, Arsenio." The way I greeted him wasn't with any joy or feeling. I was feeling a little salty towards him after I heard how he talked to Alaric. I feel like the smile he puts on is all a facade.
I saw his eye twitch.
I hear you have been training my son. That's very generous of you." His tone didn't match his voice one bit. He sounded very sarcastic.
"Yes. It's what you do for someone you care about."
"You guys only have known each other for a couple of weeks? How come you care so much for him already?
"It doesn't take a year for someone to know that they care for someone." He breathes out a sigh and takes some steps closer to me.
"Anne, just so you know, you don't have to put all your effort into trying to make Alaric an alpha. I've been trying to do it for the longest and trust me, I know it can be tiring. It's better to leave him where he is, then to waste your time." Is he serious right now.
"Are you insinuating that I should stop training Alaric?" I drop my straight face and it goes into an angry snarl.
"I'm just saying it would be in your best interest and just incase you forgot, its alpha Arsenio." With that, he walks away.
Great. Now I'm in a bad mood.
I finish my journey to the kitchen and start making something to eat.
"I haven't seen you in a while. Is the pack house really that big?" I turn around and see my dad.
"Hey, dad. Where have you?"
"Been checking in with some of the other packs around the area. Arsenio has been keeping me busy. Mind making me something too?" I nod my head. My dad takes a seat at the table and I can see how tired he is from the bags under his eyes.
"Does Arsenio seem a little off to you," I ask my dad, sliding a plate of spaghetti to him. I make sure to speak quietly. My dad takes a moment to think.
"For sure, I believe he puts on a mask, but I think it's a pretty normal thing. All alphas have to show dominance towards their pack. What might be dangerous is how much he's hiding."
"You should probably stay on high alert until you're sure."
"Don't worry. I'm way ahead of you. Also, I'm going on a mission tomorrow. Do you want to join? Its been a while since we've been on one together."
"That would be nice," I tell my dad, smiling.
"Hey, Anne with an e." When I shut the door to my locker, I'm greeted by the sunshine named Tarry.
"Hey, I never thought I'd see you in school, but you found me." I can't help, but smile like that last time when I saw him.
"You ready for work after school," he asks me.
"As ready as I'll ever be to serve coffee," I tell him and he laughs. We walk together to lunch and we end up sitting together. The crew comes over and take their regular seats, but when Alaric comes over, he looks a little annoyed.
"Who's this," Don asks. He's the last to take his seat.
"I'm Tarry." He opens up his hand to shake Don's. Don hesitates and looks over at Alaric, but returns the gesture.
"Nice to meet you, Tarry. I'm Chris. This is my boyfriend, Don. Alaric is the quiet one over there and the other girl is Hanna. Jaisley should be coming soon.
"I'm right here. Nice to meet you, Tarry," Jaisley says, taking her seat by Hanna and pulling her away from Tarry and closer to her.
"Alaric." Alaric reaches over me to shake Tarry's hand, putting his other arm around my shoulder in the process. Tarry took a glance at Alaric's arm around my shoulder, but didn't say anything.
"Nice to meet you," Tarry says. When Alaric doesn't drop his arm, I take a glance at the girls, giving them eye signals. We talk with our eyes.
"What the hell is he doing," I signal to them with my eyes.
"Seems to me like he's being possessive," Hanna signals. The fact that Alaric is now pulling me closer to him, backs up her statement.
I look at Chris, but can't tell what she's trying to say. It looks like she's doing freaking Morse code with her eyeballs.
"I'll see you after school, Anne. I have to head to the library and help my sister with something. Maybe you can meet her later." I felt bad that I couldn't talk to him longer. I blame Alaric for making things awkward.
"I'll see you later," I wave him goodbye.
When Tarry was finally gone, I turned to look at Alaric.
"What the hell is your problem?" Alaric looked offended when I yelled at him.
"What are you talking about?"
"You know exactly what you just did. You just made him uncomfortable and leave."
"It doesn't matter anyways if you planning on seeing him later and meeting his family." Alaric's voice was very cold and his eyes grow a dark brown.
"You sound a bit jealous if you ask me," Jaisley speaks out.
"I'm not. Just seems like you're forgetting about your friends and when you get hurt by some guy, you'll come running back to us."
"What are you talking about? He literally came over to meet you guys. He's not some asshole. He's my friend and he helped me out. Yes, I think he's hot, but I'm not dating him. You need to chill out. I shouldn't even be explaining myself."
Alaric breathes out a sigh and drops his arm from around me. "Your right. I'm sorry." His eyes go back to its hazel color.
