A little green-haired girl sat alone on a seesaw, staring at the empty spot with a dull face. The sun drawing a shadow into the grass. She wore dirty and old overalls, with soil and soot covering it all over. The park she sat in was well taken care of, with soft grass and expertly made equipment like monkey bars, slides, and the before mentioned see-saw; all neatly section in the park. On the other side of the street, sat a café called Café de la vieille France, with a group of well-dressed gentlemen sitting in the outside tables.
A group of children around the girl's age appeared, starting at the nearly vacant park.
"It's her," one of the boys murmured.
Another added, "So she thinks because she's a stray that she can just sleep anywhere and do anything all day while we have to go to school and boring stuff!" Leading the group, the leader ordered, "come on guys! Let's teach her a lesson for loitering on our turf!" The rest of the children began charging towards the girl. As the leader's fist raised above the girl's head, she unexpectedly grabbed the back of his head and smashed it on the wooden board in between the two seats. The entire group of kids stopped instantly, watching their leader shriek in pain; blood gushing out of his shattered snout.
The small girl slid off the seat and glared at the rest of the kids, unleashing a menacing aura.
One of the kids yelped, "Let's get outta' here guys!" As the kids ran away, the girl walked calmly away from the park, leaving the former leader groaning on the now tainted lawn. As the girl walked down the sidewalk, someone tapped on her shoulder. When she turned around, she saw one of the nicely dressed men leaning down and looking at her face, a careless smirk on his face.
The girl frowned and stated, "you can bring me to the police if you want, they won't care."
"What? No! I was about to say that you have some moves kid!" The man complimented.
"What?"
"The way you punched that annoying kid, very satisfactory, " the man said. He gave a chef's kiss and chimed, "mwah!"
The girl made a pensive face and interrogated, "what do you want?"
"Well I just wanted to make sure you were okay, I heard one of the kids call you a stray, is that true?"
"So what if I am? I can take care of myself!"
"I don't mean to be rude but you don't look much older than seven, " the man said, "I think we got off on the wrong foot, what's your name?"
Rolling her eyes, the girl stated, "if it means you leave me alone, it's Paisley."
"And?"
"No, just Paisley."
"Oh, well—if you want, we ordered some extra bread at our table, over there, at that café," the man told, "if you want, you can have the extra."
"Fine, I'll take your bread," Paisley begrudged.
"However, you have to sit with us and answer some questions, me and my associates are looking for people with potential, and we think you have just what we're looking for."
