Chapter 1 - Reborn

The night was stormy, as it should have been. It was quiet, too quiet. Even the mice below and the birds above dared not speak at this time. A single man stood opposing an army, yet it was the army who was afraid. After all, they were rebelling against their king. King David was the most celebrated king of all time for the country. Yet it was extremely important to kill him.

"Why? Why now? I sacrificed everything for Alheim and this is how you repay me?" Clearly, David was enraged.

"Forgive me my lord, but the circumstances are such. He promised to let the kingdom survive if we killed you. Please understand. My lord... before you die could you grant this siege your sword?" The wise man spoke, sneering at him.

"I finally understand. Of course you wanted this sword. I may die but I will never yield."

David took a step back and the army watched in horror as their king fell down a cliff, known to the entire world as the crack of doom. They knew that he would not survive, and nor would the sword.

The General was aghast, "How will we tell that madman what happened. We are doomed. If we do not get the sword he will massacre the entire kingdom. Send a troupe down the cliff"

A soldier replied, "Sir, that cliff is known for being impossible to descend, are you telling a troupe to go die? The King is dead, surely that will satisfy him."

"Ahh.... We are really screwed..... Fate is toying with us. Let us go and beg for mercy. Hope that he will forgive us"

The entire army left the impasse without even looking twice at the bottom where David had fallen. Mean while down that cliff, David, all bloodied up, was still alive.

Coughing, he laughed at his fate, and knew that he would die in a few minutes. His eyes were full of regret. If only he hadn't sacrificed everything for the kingdom, then maybe he would have a family even. He looked at the sky, hoping that heaven would give him another chance.

The heavens responded in kind, and a bolt of lightning stuck him and he slowly slumbered into the darkness.
