3 years passed within a blink of an eye. David could start walking, talking, and could barely read... that was what his parents knew about him. Immediately after he started to walk, he practically lived in the study, devouring information. He was reborn in the magical nation of Varaha, the arch rival of his previous residence, Alheim. But times were different now, it has been 500 years since he died, according to the books, and he was labelled a traitor by the army then. Reading the history books, he clenched his teeth.
The situation in Varaha was different. Instead of fighter qi, people here cultivated magical energy into cores concentrated in the abdomen. One had to increase the power in this core to use the energy to attack. The ranks were as such :
Tier 1 - Ordinary Magician
Tier 2 - Low grade Magician
Tier 3 - Low grade Magician
Tier 4 - Low grade Magician
Tier 5 - Medium Grade Magician
Tier 6 - Medium Grade Magician
Tier 7 - Medium Grade Magician
Tier 8 - High Grade Magician
Tier 9 - High Grade Magician
Tier 10 - High Grade Magician
Above Tier 10 - Saint Magician
Each tier was further split into stages of low, medium, high and peak. Becoming a medium grade magician was such a great accomplishment that they were granted a noble title of baron or less, and becoming a high grade magician granted a viscount title. As for the Saint magicians, there was only one in the country, and he was the country protector.
David understood the basic principle of magic, which was very similar to the qi in Alheim. He was a Tier 10 fighter in the previous life, and lost only once in a battle against the protector of Varaha at the time. He knew how hard it was to reach the stage, but knew that he had a greater chance now, with all the experience of the previous life.
As the saying goes, Early bird gets the worm. David knew that if he started to practice gathering energy now, then he would achieve better results. As the body grows older, there are more impurities and it will be harder to cultivate. So, David sat down in the lotus position and closed his eyes, concentrating on his abdomen, trying to gather energy there. Then all of a sudden he saw specks of red, green and yellow. He knew that those were the special elemental energies that a magician had, and that without elemental specialization, cultivating was impossible.
David's elementals were fire, wind, and lightning. Having two elements alone was rare, and were fought over, and if the world knew that he had three elements, many people would fight for his life and he would have to spend his life in a lab. He had to keep his attributes a secret.
David could feel a rudimentary sphere of energy forming, with a third of the space each occupied by the different elements. David was a Tier 1 Magician! He finally entered the world of cultivation for this life.
