Chapter 24 - Brain damage

"Fancy seeing you here," said Asia with a mild hint of passive-aggressiveness. She didn't want him to see her in the pathetically unattractive state that she was in. But the hurt of him not standing by her bedside as she lied senseless was gripping her brain. She covered her urine bag with the bed cover and styled her hair by running her fingers through her hair.

"Hi, my name is doctor Fahad and this is my team we're going to be asking you a few questions related to your current mental and physical health. The responses you give shall remain confidential according to the laws of HIPAA."

Asia started giggling. "Why are you being so funny? Is this a prank? Where's the camera? I have always wondered why don't people get it that they are being pranked by their significant other? Now that I'm being pranked I can for sure say that all the pranks on YouTube are heavily scripted. That's the reason why Mama is pretending to forget about the pre-wedding shoot."

Doctor Fahad and Mrs Chohan exchange a look of concern and apprehension.

"Sweetie this is not a prank! I'm so worried for you," Mrs Cohan started crying, "What has happened to my kid? Why can't I have a normal life?"

"Mrs Chohan, please stop crying. We need to talk to Miss Asia over here. Alone. Please wait outside!"

Asia looked at everybody with her eyes wide open astonished and intrigued.

"Come on, now everybody drop the act, I know what's up! I know you guys are pranking me!"

"Miss Asia there are a few questions that we need to ask you," Said Dr Fahad.

"So please, Mrs Chohan, wait outside. We need to have a proper questioning session with Miss Asia. it is important for her health" said the doctor in white scrubs.

Mrs Chohan wiped off her tears and left the room.

Asia all of a sudden felt stranded amongst strangers. Even Fahad, the love of her life, felt like a stranger. There was something uniquely unrecognisable in him but no matter how hard she tried she couldn't put exactly a finger on it.

The doctor in the white scrubs sat beside her on the bench and said "My name is Dr Alexander and I am going to ask you a few questions. There is no right or wrong answer to any of these questions. These questions are asked to get an idea about your current state of mind."

Asia nervously gulped down her saliva. her mouth felt dry like she had been chewing rocks. She looked at Fahad for an explanation. But he stood there with the distant look in his eyes. The lack of familiarity in those eyes was breaking her like a breadstick.

Uneasily, she looked at dr Alexander and nodded her head. She felt like a crazy person. She felt as if her brain was swimming In circles, inside her skull.

"What is your full name?"

"My name is Asia Chohan."

"What is your age?"

" I am 22."

"What is the date today?

"19th March 2016"

"Do you have any idea about what the time is right now?"

She looked around for a Clock but her heart said "It is 3 33 am." As she said those words the room around her started whizzing and turned pitch black.

"I guess the light went out," she thought to herself,  "Weird for the light to go off in a hospital. Won't it be difficult for surgeries that are going in place?"

The darkness was very annoying.

It was as irritating as the pitter-patter of water on the sink when the tap is not fully closed. It was making her feel uneasy so she tried to move her hand around and hold something to maybe support herself but as she was riling her hands up in the air she couldn't find anything. She couldn't even find herself it was as if there was only air around her, not even her own self.

"Hello?! Somebody help? Where is everybody? I can't feel myself. Where am I? I can't touch myself. Where am I? I can't even feel my hands.  Fahad. Dr Alexander. Somebody help. I can't...I can't..I don't know what's happening. Somebody help me."

Just the deafening sound of pitch-black darkness, not even the echo of her own voice was there to comfort her.

She was screaming in agony when all of a sudden the pitch-black darkness turned into midnight blue smoke and she started to see certain individuals or things in cloaks, just as blue as the smoke,  with their faces covered. A humming was going on around her. She could not figure out what it was saying. It was musical and beautiful. It was as if her soul was being taken out of her painfully yet beautifully. Like the smoke from a volcano, a beautiful pattern against the Sky. Terrifying but beautiful.

She could sense the horrible faces of her own family and her friends they were all sitting in their cloaks with their faces covered. She knew which cloak hid which body and she knew that all of them were evil. And she was the biggest evil out of all of them.

The blue smoke dissipated to reveal the daylight in Morrison park. She was standing on the playground and her cousin Feria was standing on the top of the 5-metre slide ready to have fun in her little fluffy pink frock. Asia sneaked behind feria and pushed her off the slide and on to the concrete floor breaking her nasal bridge and frontal bone.  Asia was 12 at that time and her cousin was three, the only kid of her uncle Gryphon and aunt Samantha, born after 15 years of marriage.

They were obsessed with her and she just couldn't understand why.  Feria was not even that pretty. In fact, she was straight up ugly. more than ugly she was annoying.

She used always pick her nose.  Asia had always hated Feria mainly cause she was annoying and wanted to play video games on the computer whenever she sat down to play.

Today however she had put a booger on Asia's face in front of aunt Samantha and aunt Samantha didn't even scold Feria properly. Asia wanted to kill her but instead, she got something better. Feria's frontal bone pierced her frontal lobe and left her handicapped for life when she fell down from the height of 5 metres. truth be told it was the Morrison playground's constructors mistake who makes such scary rides for little kids?

Thankfully nobody saw her but her own Mama. Mama scolded her by saying "What if somebody had seen you? They wouldn't have ever allowed you to enter their house or play GTA."
