Chapter 11 - The Banquet Pt.2

As the couple began to make their way through the crowd they were about to reach the group of people including Emma and Josue, a man stepped out and stopped them before leaning over and whispering into Sean's ear. Sara felt the hand holding hers tighten and could feel the frustration in the sigh Sean let out. As the man stepped away Sean look down at Sara, straight into her eyes. "I'm sorry there's something that seems to require my immediate attention." The voice in that same icy tone he always carried, but his face was showing stress and fatigue that Sara didn't notice earlier. This somehow caused her heart ache seeing such a handsome man look so tired. As Sean walked away, the group led by Josue walked over and introduced themselves. Sara at first felt flustered meeting some of the people especially Emma but soon began to feel comfortable around the group as they seemed to show little interest in talking business.

Emma wrapped her arm around Sara's before talking her for a lap around the venue. The moment they were put of earshot from the group Emma immediately asked "So for once Sean shows up with someone to an event but then is forced to leave them for work." Sara looked at the lady who gave of a motherly vibe while responding "I wouldn't read to much into it. We're just representing the company." Her response caused Emma to chuckle as they ran into John and Claire causing Sara to be shocked. Emma ignoring the shocked look on Sara's face greeted the couple before tactically asking "are you two working or did the boss finally give you date night." The couple smiled at Emma before John responded "if all goes well this stay a date night." Emma returned the smile seemingly still ignoring Sara who's mind was racing at this point while Emma responded," well I'll have a word with him to let you have more time. I want to see your grand babies soon." Then Emma led Sara away. Only then did Sara ask Emma, "wait those two are…"

"Married." Emma quickly finished her sentence. "A price they pay for working for their boss. He strict and a workaholic, causing those around him to have to work harder." Sara ponder the words before responding "and you know their boss as well? What makes you so sure he'll listen to you." Sara was less interested in the answer but more so on the fact this woman knew who was behind all the changes in her life recently.

As they finished walking around and introducing themselves to the other businesses people, that originally showed disdain for Sara's introduction as she introduced herself as the CEO of Hughes Investment, they quickly changed their attitudes due to the fact that Emma Camilla was walking arm in arm with her. Sara oblivious to the fact that Emma was making her life much busier in the coming months just felt that these people wouldn't dare piss off the Business Queen of Europe. She began to casually talk with Emma after a while, " you seem to know Sean very well when you pointed out that he finally brought someone." The statement made Emma smile. "That boy will be the cause of death to two women soon. His mother and I always worry about him. He seems to travel more than the traveling circus. Also your the first woman I've ever seen him interact with outside of the office so of course his home life is nonexistent. Anyways it's getting quite late for me and I have a flight out tomorrow morning. I'll be in touch very soon." Then Emma left leaving Sara pondering on her words.

As she walked around making small talk with other people she heard someone say "I mean who wears a fake necklace to this crowd. Everyone knows the Oceans Moon is housed in Europe." Sara turned her head to the group that was discussing a necklace and noticed they were looking at her with disdain. 'What did I do to upset them' Sara thought as she ignored the group but soon realized that everyone she passed was looking at her with disgust. 'I wish Sean would hurry up so we can leave.' Sara thought before she found a place out of the crowd. However trouble seemed to follow her as a beautiful woman walked up to her. Sara even admitted to herself she couldn't match this woman's beauty. The woman looked at her, eyes filled with disgust before saying "you think dressing like this and wearing a fake necklace is good enough to seduce Sean." Sara was stunned 'so she must be a pursuer of Sean.' "I'm sorry fake necklace?" The woman lazily swirled the wine in her glass before responding "everyone knows the real version of the necklace is in Europe. It was displayed there until last night. It was taken off display for cleaning. So it's time to put you in your place slut." She swung her arm but it was quickly grasped by Sara, who glared at the woman. Before releasing new arm Sara gave her a quick slap.

Unbeknownst to Sara a crowd had formed due to Samantha's provocation, seeing her slap Samantha across the face. Sara light pushed the lady away preparing to walk away but noticed she was about to splash her with the wine. Before anyone could move though and Icy voice rang out from the crowd behind Sara "What is happening here." Then Sara turned around and saw Sean standing there with a couple of middle aged men. Before Sara could say anything the mystery woman immediately responding, while making herself look as pitiful as possible "she slapped me." Sean looked down at the woman who had tears forming and a bright red palm print on her face. Everyone watched as he walked in front of Sara before asking her, in the same icy cold voice devoid of the warmth and comfort it had once carried in the car, "Did you slap her?" Sara looked up at Sean thinking he was going to side with the crying woman."Yes. She answered proudly about to begin but she was cut off by the his voice "hold out the hand you slapped her with." Sara looked at him fearing the worse as she lifted her hand, for sean to immediately grab it and begin massaging it. The move shocked everyone standing around including Sara but she was the only one that heard what he said next, with the warmth returning to his voice much that was softer now "it doesn't hurt does it?"Sara just shook her head as Sean released her hand before his voice returned to normal "why did you slap her."

"She called me a slut and said your necklace was fake" Sara said awkwardly avoiding the eyes bearing holes in her skull. Little did she know that Sean was thinking 'the little kitten bared her claws to only act like this in front of me?' Sean immediately turned his back on Sara before looking at one of the men that came with him "Mr. Mattis can you please come authenticate a piece of jewelry please?" Everyone saw the well known jeweler and appraiser Hans Mattis walk up to Sara and looked at the necklace. Without even touching it he immediately announced to the crowd "it's the authentic Oceans Moon." Sean then turned and looked at the pitiful woman who immediately cried out "how can you be so sure without looking at any gems." Hans shook his head at the stupid comment before he seemed to realize that everyone was probably thinking the same thing. "Samantha Harris, I've never been wrong when appraising my own work, or when the owner of the real necklace asked me to appraise it. Especially when I brought the necklace from Europe with me to give back to Sean here." Hans empathized the last half of his sentence before turning to walk away. Sean's voice immediately rang out "Thank you Mr Mathis." He said through a smile that didn't reach his eyes before turning to Samantha. "Ms. Harris due to our history I will let this slide. However if you ever cross me or MY WOMAN again I will not hesitate to seek retaliation that will take you many lifetimes to recover from." Sean bellowed out causing everyone to shiver from the voice.

Before anyone could react Sean grabbed Sara's hand before saying in a cheerful voice to one of the other middle aged men "Happy Birthday Mayor Rojas. However my date seems to be ready to go home." Then Sean kept dragging Sara behind him out the door and into the Rolls Royce, that had already been waiting for them since Sean had walked out of the meeting.
