After a couple of minutes of walking they were infront of Jerry's home, he lived in an apartment, and it was situated very close to school, about 600 meters away from it to be exact. Jerry took his keys out and unlocked the apartment door with the key that had a circular head, and they went in, the door closed behind them and locked itself automatically, after a little bit of going up the stairs they were in front of the Dankworth's family's apartment door, so Jerry took the brass key that had a square head and unlocked the door. Jerry's parents weren't home, because they were working. Quast and Jerry went to Jerry's room and threw their backpacks in a corner and Quast sat down on a beanbag. Jerry went to the kitchen and took two bottles of cola and returned to his room.
"So let's test out some things shall we?" said Jerry as he threw Quast a bottle of cola and sat down on a beanbag too. Quast opened the bottle a little bit as to let the carbonate out and then quickly closed the cap, because the foam was rising, he did that two more times and then he could finally take a drink, however he didn't take a drink and just kept it in his hands.
"What do you suggest we do?" asked Quast looking at the bottle of cola in his hands.
"Come on dude you aren't my friend for nothing, you should know pretty damn well what to do by now, open your "Interface", cmon' do it." said Jerry.
"I tried." sighed Quast "But nothing appeared."
"Hmm." paused Jerry, after a little bit of time of thinking Jerry remembered what was said while they were on the bench outside of school. "I think I know why you can't open it. It is because you are probably thinking of the wrong interface, you are probably thinking of my interface."
"Oh." was all that came out of Quast's mouth "True, I guess, but I really wasn't trying to, it's just that I don't know what my interface looks like."
"And?" said Jerry "I also didn't know what my interface looked like, but it was somehow opened after I completed the first quest."
"I gotta give you that." said Quast "Do you have a piece of paper?" he asked.
"Yeah, yeah I do." answered Jerry.
"Can I have a sheet?" requested Quast.
"Sure." answered Jerry "Why tho?"
"I will try to redraw what I saw in my dream." calmly answered Quast as Jerry handed him the piece of paper. "Ok this will be a bit hard, because I am not that good of a drawer." Quast said as he tried to draw a rectangle after scribbling on the sheet of paper for a little bit it looked something like this.
[????][????][????][????]
[????????????????????]
[????????????????????]
[????????????????????]
"Ok, so this is basically what I saw in my dream, the question marks indicate that I don't know what was there, obviously." spoke Quast as he put the cap back on the pen and tried to throw it in his backpack, but missed and the pen flew into Jerry's backpack that was right next to his.
"I see." Jerry remarked "Have you tried imaging it with this form?"
"Sure have." assessed Quast.
"Hmm." grumbled Jerry "Hey can you try to give me another one of those so called quests?"
"Wow you sounded really old saying that, but yeah sure, that pen that I just threw wrongly in your backpack, can you put it in my backpack?" declared Quast with his finger pointed towards Jerry's backpack.
The instant Quast said that the little interface appeared in front of Jerry, the questing window.
[Put the pen back into {Quast's} backpack]
[Difficulty : Very Easy][Rewards : 5 Experience]
"Oh there it is again, so it wasn't a one-time thing." Jerry commented "Ok, so what would happen if you try to open your interface now?" Jerry asked Quast.
"Yeah let me try." Quast replied. And he did try, and he succeeded, a flash of light blinded Quast, and after he opened his eyes again he saw an interface infront of him
[>Users<][Shop][Enemies][Gear]
[Name : Jerry Dankworth]
[Stats: 10 Strength 11 Intelligence 7 Agility]
[8 Dexterity 9 Endurance 5 Luck]
The Users tab was the selected tab.
"Ughhh." Quast grumbled while he was still recovering from the blinding light. "Oh there's my interface, but was that blinding light really necessary?"
"Yeah that was totally unnecessary, mine didn't release light when I first opened it, I wonder why yours did, anyways let's check it out." said Jerry as he moved his hand away from his face.
Quast looked at the interface and realized what that light was, it was all the functions of the system, it was knowledge, he had to share this with his friend.
"Dude, Jerry that light wasn't unnecessary, it was the tutorial on how to use the system." uttered Quast. "If you saw the light, then it should mean that you also know what is going on."
"Nah man, I'm lost." muttered Jerry "However your interface is quite self explanatory, not gonna lie, however I'd like to know what things do anyways."
"Ok, so this Users tab here that is currently selected, shows the users of the questing system, oh wait I am getting ahead of myself, first things first apparently I am the Quest Giver and I can give "the power to change" to people that are not me, so basically I can't give quests to myself and I can't upgrade my attributes like you, however I can give quests to other people and these people can upgrade themselves, in other words they can become gods." spoke Quast fast, meanwhile Jerry was just standing there trying to process what Quast was saying.
"So, basically what you are saying is that when I complete quests and get this "Experience" I can level up and those attribute points that are at 0 at the moment will increase?" laughed Jerry
"Exactly, they will increase by 3 with every level." Quast answered.
"Wow that is so unoriginal." smirked Jerry "However I'm up for it."
"It is kind of unoriginal, however let me tell you this, you don't get only Experience from quests, some quests give coins, and that brings us to the next tab, which is the Shop." happy at his smooth transition said Quast.
"In the shop you can buy all kinds of stuff, like weapons and potions and oooh you have to hear this one, you can buy food, but that doesn't matter right now, so the next one is Enemies tab, this is where I can make stronger and stronger enemies for quests, there are also preset enemies and enemies, when killed give Experience and can also drop coins and gear sometimes. hmm the word gear sounds familiar, yes but of course, it is the name of the next tab, Gear, it is pretty self explanatory, this is where all the gear goes if its bought from the shop or if its dropped from enemies, it acts like a storage, and we can put anything in it, yes WE, because you also have access to the Gear tab." the exact moment Quast uttered those words Jerry's interface opened and updated and it now had "Gear : None" under his blood type.
"Huh cool.. I guess?" muttered Jerry "You know Quast, nothing of what happened today has really clicked in for me." he spoke in a little bit of a louder voice now. "But I guess I am just gonna go with the flow for now." said Jerry as he went over to his backpack and took Quast's pen out of it, after inspecting it for a second he put it in Quast's backpack, and the quest window dissapeared, and Jerry had gained another 5 Experience, now making him need 15 more Experience to level up to level 1.
"Jerry, where did all that positive energy that you had a little bit ago go?" asked Quast sadly "If you want I could go home now and let you think about it for a little longer."
"Nah man its fine, I also want to test these things out, I'm as interested in them as you are, and my positive energy isn't gone, I was just confused, and a lot at that, I have too many questions, but so little answers." sighed Jerry
"Well to be honest, I also have a lot of questions, the knowledge I was granted was only about the questing system and not about everything to do with it, there are still a lot of things I don't know, however one day my questions will be answered, I know it." said Quast as he tried to lift Jerry's spirits.
"Wow, that was really motivational, I gotta give you that one." said Jerry sarcastically "Okay, let's get into it, give me some quests to do, let's get all the answers we want."
"Oh one more thing." Quast remembered "There are a limits of how many quests I can give out, but don't worry, it resets with a timer."
"And what is that limit?" asked Jerry.
"Well, to find that out, I gotta first tell you about "Quest Difficulty", quests have difficulties as you would know, because all the quests that you were getting were of the "Very Easy" difficulty, now there are 7 difficulties, first we have the easiest and that is "Very Easy", then we have "Easy, after that comes "Mediocre", then "Hard", after follows "Very Hard", then "Insane" and at last "Impossible"."
"Ooo, impossible difficulty, I see." mumbled Jerry in-between with a smirk on his face.
"There is a certain amount of quests I can give out in a 96 hour time window" continued Quast "and that is 10 very easy quests, 10 easy quests, 7 mediocre quests, 5 hard quests, 4 very hard quests, 3 insanes and 1 impossible."
"Woahhh, why 96 hours and why such specific numbers for quests?" asked Jerry
"Oh, I totally forgot to tell you something." said Quast as he face palmed "I can also level up, but not myself, I can level up the questing system, for every level a user gains, the Questing System gains 1 Experience, and the levels require the same amount of Experience that a user's would, so basically to get to a lvl 1 system, you'd need to level up 25 times, and for every level the amount of quests increase and the cooldown gets reduced by 4 hours."
"I see, well, that's cool, but for now let's go outside somewhere where no one can see us and test things out." said Jerry.
"You totally don't care that much do you? Well fine, let's go outside, wait when are your parents returning?" Quast asked Jerry.
"Oh, there's still time I suppose, like 5 hours, we returned really early from school." mentioned Jerry
"Yeah, yeah we did, it's like 10am right now isn't it, all of our classmates are having PE, I bet Albert is really suspicious of us right now, I asked him if he could see something in front of you and 2 lessons after that we left." Quast realized.
"Yeah, you totally did that, oh well there's nothing we can do about it now." Jerry sighed. "Let's just leave now, I suppose."
Jerry and Quast put on their jackets and left to test the Questing System out.
