Chapter 1 - The Quest Giver

Quast Bordington and Jerry Dankworth were just normal kids, going to school and disliking it there, they were both 16 years of age and both of them were born in the same month, just 12 days apart, nonetheless they were good friends, infact they were very good friends and did the usual friend things like going outside and hanging out with their classmates some times, playing video games together whenever they found the time. There were also other cool people in the class that Quast would consider calling friends, since they were there for him whenever he needed help.

It was the weekend, actually it was the end of the weekend, the accursed Sunday, the last day of the week, the day that signified that a new week was about to begin, and of course it meant that school was tomorrow for Quast. Quast, like most students would, left homework for the last moment, in other words he was a procrastinator. He was currently playing a first person shooter game with Jerry, undoubtedly Jerry was dominating the lobby, after all Jerry was good in everything he did, and at the second place followed the one and only Quast. Despite wanting to keep on playing he knew that he had to stop for today, they weren't talking because Jerry's microphone had broken down so the boy known as Quast sent him a message to say that he was logging off for the day, after Bordington shut off his PC he sat in his gaming chair looking up at the ceiling, he took a deep breath and decided to do his homework, but he was distracted and remembered his phone so he whipped it out and turned on the app called "YouTube", after 35 minutes of painstakingly watching cooking tutorials on YouTube, he could finally begin with his homework, the homework really wasn't that hard. Quast just didn't like doing homework, despite that he sat down and just googled everything and after 20 minutes of copying stuff off of Google he was done, he packed his stuff for tomorrow, put his backpack on the side, and could finally go to bed.

That night Quast had a weird dream, he could see himself viewing a game-like user interface that was just floating midair, Jerry was sitting on the ground and also viewing that interface except that his interface had a few functions missing.

Quast was awoken by his mother turning on the lights in his room making him tuck himself under his sheets so he could avoid the light, he grumbled under his sheets, but with all the remaining willpower he had left he stood up and went to the bathroom to brush his teeth while still rethinking that dream, for some reason Quast remembered that dream perfectly and felt like it was reality, he just couldn't stop thinking about it. He took his backpack that he had packed with the school essentials last night and said bye to his mom and dad that were drinking coffee in the living room. He put his backpack in his bikes luggage carrier, his eyes still heavy from not enough sleep, he set off to school.

At school he sat down on his chair and looked at the time table it seemed like he had English as the first subject, Quast was seated near a wall in the back and infront of him was Jerry. The teacher Kyle Jackson came in through the door and put his bag on the table Mr. Jackson ordered the kids to stand up and Quast hated that, he hated being ordered around, but he understood it wasn't the teachers fault, it was just the orders of the education system. Quast sat down and looked to the teacher, Mr. Jackson however had already turned around and written exercises on the black board. It was one of those lessons.. Quast thought. He opened his workbook to the page written on the board and looked at the first exercise, he read the exercise 3 times over, but still needed some time to figure it out, so he started playing with his pencil, doing some tricks he had learned from YouTube videos, however he lost his grip of the pencil and it flew towards Jerry's table and landed under it. Quast sighed and tried to get Jerry's attention, after a couple of seconds of whispering his name Jerry turned around "Whaddya want?" Jerry whispered a little bit annoyed. Quast pointed with his finger towards the pencil lying under the table "Can you give me that back, please?" Quast also whispered. "Fine." Jerry said, and as soon as he said that word a little window appeared in front of him, a game-like user interface.
