"Sophie!" I hear someone say as I feel someone shaking me by my shoulders.
I groaned and pulled my blanket over my head.
As I drifted to sleep again I felt someone shake me again.
"Sophie!" the voice said again.
I opened my eyes slowly and saw my brown haired, dark eyed, bestfriend hovering over me. His muscular arms were resting on my shoulders.
I looked at the alarm clock at the side of my bed.
6:00am
Sunday
December 3
Six...SIX AM?!
I quickly snapped my head at my bestfriend who was grinning cheekily.
"What the fuck,Jason?! It's 6am!" I yelled.
"I know,I just thought you might wanna see this." he said removing one of his hands from my shoulder and pointed at the window.
My eyes widened in excitement as I saw the white dust falling from the sky. I quickly pushed Jason off me,hurriedly pushed my feet into the pair of flip-flops at the foot of my bed and ran out of my bedroom door and through the door of the house Jason and I share.
The sun was now rising and the walnut brown trees swayed in the cold winter wind.
The snow hugged the house like a day old baby, new and clingy. It was like the street had been put to bed, hushed under nature's frigid eider-down.
"I know how much you like snow"he said quietly.
"It's so pretty" I said,my eyes sparkling with awe.
Not hearing an answer,I looked behind me and saw Jason staring at me.
I raised an eyebrow questioningly.
"Are you hungry?"he asked suddenly and I nodded.
"I'll go make breakfast then, you coming?"
"No,I'll stay out here a bit"I replied.
He nodded, took out his hoodie and put it over my head. Before I can protest he said "You looked cold. Plus,it looks better on you than on me."
He ruffled my hair and walked away.
I smiled and looked up at the sky.
Breath pale against the numbing air,I blinked thoughtfully as the frost patiently kissed my face, captivated by the soft, dusty illusions of light that sat heavy on my eyelashes. I adored the snow, more so when it was falling.
------
I still remember,third of december
Me in your sweater, you said it looked better
On me,than it did you, only if you knew
How much I liked you
