Our wedding was right around the corner, I was so thankful we had Kia to organize everything it definitely took the pressure off of us that's for sure, although technically it was all still a worry. The dress, the outfits, seating plan, the food. I was still on maternity leave so I managed to sort a few things out with Kia, with Leyton giving his opinion also. We decided on a wine lunch today, while Jane babysat the twins, she insisted, and it was nice to have human contact for an hour or two. "Ok, your food choices, what do you think of seafood?" She gave me options. "I like it, as far as we are aware there are no seafood allergies, we could have seafood as the starter?" she nodded in agreement. "Great! and the mains? what are you thinking? something light?" as she made her notes whilst I looked at the options. "Perhaps a lighter option for the women? and a heavier for the men? Although given the choice for either?" "Perfect, and dessert?" "Sorbet, always a winner" "Great, that is food settled. now more wine? and we can talk seating plan?" she smiled. "Sounds perfect, for the most stressful part of the wedding" I sighed smiling. Checking in on the twins who were settled and playing, I felt content.
After two hours the wedding was almost complete. My dress was one of the last decisions and the decorations will be done once everyone is over the border. I got home to find an unfamiliar car in the driveway. I pulled out my phone, five missed calls from Jane? and messages. shit. I parked up and locked my car before running into the house. "Jane!?" I called out. no answer, my automatic mum mode hit, my babies. "Jane!!!" I checked every room. "April ... darling, a pleasure to see you again" "Grace. What are you doing here? Why are you holding my children?" I say with a blunt tone. "I wanted to see my grandchildren, is that a crime now?" she smiled. "Well considering the way you spoke to me last time, I think you know the decision on that one, don't you" she scoffed. "Oh darling, It was the heat of the moment, you can't stop me seeing them" My blood was boiling i just wanted my children. "Miss James. I did try to call you, Mrs. Stevens insisted on waiting for you" Jane was all flustered. "Jane, please do not worry, its ok. Please take the twins to the playroom" i smile towards her, then glared at Grace to hand them over. "Now are you going to tell me the real reason you are here?" I ask. "Leave him." "Im sorry?" I was taken back by her latest announcement. "Leave my son. I will pay you. Anything. He deserves to be with-" I cut her off. "Pay me to leave your son! are you fucking kidding me? Look i get it! we will never like each other, but i love your son, he loves me, we are getting married in over a months time! If you want to be there i suggest you get rid of those ridiculous thoughts about Avery, and accept the fact i will not be going anywhere!!" Wow. even i was proud of myself, where that came from. she just laughed. "Oh darling. I am his mother, he will always come back to me. I will make sure you wont be together for so long, I can make sure of it, Why would he be interested in a small, silly little girl who wants him for his money,-" "Mother!!!! what the fuck is going on here? and why are you telling my fiancee, she wont be around?" Leyton was by the door. "Leyton, darling, i can explain." "I think i have heard enough, now please, I suggest you leave, and if you want to be at the wedding, i suggest you accept us, if not then you are not welcome" He stood in front of me, holding my hand tightly. I watched as Grace left the house. "baby, are you ok?" "yeah ..." i sighed. I wasn't. I left to go get the babies from the play room. It was bath time and then bedtime. I just had to process what Grace just said. I don't understand why, i am hated so much.
