Chapter 14 - Chapter 14

So the deal of becoming champion runs over again. Adam, or Aaron as they call him, was still reigning champion, and no one had been able to defeat him so far. He's talented, and he's quick witted and smart. He moves quicker than Estelle, and has the brain of Mint. He's perfect in every way. He's highly different from his successor Kenma, and he's insanely strong. Our current Avatar was lacking compared to him. Aaron was a dual bender. Fire and Earth, Crescent was far from his level of talent.

She wanders through the halls of her school. People shoot her shy waves and nasty glares. There was no point in having everyone like her. She makes her way to the student council table, and she snickers at the sight of Crécelle draped over Mint.

"Good noon to you all" She mumbles, munching on her sandwich.

"Hey Crescent" they greet. Crécelle sends her a nasty glare and she shrugs.

"So about Adam" Crescent starts.

"Aaron?"

"Adam, Aaron, same person" Crescent snorts. "What does he bend? What's his stats? I wanna get moving on"

"You don't get access to that" Crécelle, Ice, and Mint deadpan. Crescent tilts her head in confusion.

"What do you mean?"

"The only time you get his stats are when champion season arrives. You have another four months before that comes." Ice speaks up. "No one has access except the champion himself before that"

"Can I ask him for it?"

"What makes you think he'll give it to you?"

"I'll get it somehow"

When Crescent gets home that day, she's pulled to the side by an old accomplice. They whisper into her ear that news had gone around that there was a way into the tombs they had been trying to get into, and she glows. She's ready to claim what's rightfully her's and she's more than ready. She tests it out, and she follows him to the door.

"We don't know the password" they sign, and Crescent shakes her head. They head off, but she stays. What had Kenma told her it was? Ouvre? Buka? Otwarty?

"Patentibus" she whispers. The doors rumble, and she's in awe at how cleanly they move. She slips past the doors, and they shut behind her. She wanders through the halls, and admires the art. The walls are covered in a thin layer of gold, and silver chains hang from the ceiling like stars. Copper moons and dust covers the floor, and the rusting causes it to look a bright shade of green. She wanders through the halls, and each casket has a name on it. She arrives at the most recent one, it's labeled 'Kenma', and she opens the casket lightly. He's breathing.

She brings a little bit of the water nearby, and she heals him slightly. He coughs and sputters, and he's brought back to life. His eyes are the same shade as before, and his hair starts to recover. He blinks and adjusts to the surrounding around him. He sends a spike to Crescent, and she decides to float up.

"C-crescent?" He's confused, and his voice is rough from the poison.

"What happened? How did you die?" Crescent helps him sit up, and he coughs. She hands him a little food, and he eats slowly.

"Poison. They poisoned me. They told me that they would be bringing me to where I was to be buried when I died, and they feasted with me beforehand. I, I thought it would be like any other feast, but I started to feel drowsy, and soon I fell asleep. How did you wake me up?" He stares at the girl.

"The fountain. You all are buried with highly pure water, and it has healing properties. I can't believe it worked I-" Kenma pulls her in for a hug. Crescent pats him slightly, and he mumbles thank yous on her skin. They stay that way, and soon, Kenma is ready to start moving. The poison had diffused slightly, and he was able to move again. He tests his limbs, and finds that he's just as agile as before. He was an alley cat, quick, witty, and highly intelligent.

"Thank you" He mumbles, and he runs off to who knows where.

"Wait!" Crescent attempts to chase after him, but he's gone. She wanders through the halls, and lifts up the bottom of Kenma's casket. There's an opening, and she slips in. She finds herself in the catacombs of the tomb. Where all the treasure, gold, and puzzles laid. She wanders through the halls, and finds Kenma curled up in a corner, working on a puzzle. She rushes up to him, and he nearly knocks the air out of her.

"I came here to ask you a question" Crescent pants, it was not easy getting down there.

"What was it?" He doesn't look at her, he continues on his work.

"Molecule bending, particle bending, gravity bending, and oxygen bending. Teach me. Please" Crescent bows.

Kenma peers at her in curiosity. Those bending types were banned in the school. Why did she want to know?

"What's the point of learning something you can't use?"

"That's not the point. It's to find loopholes and use them against them" Crescent mumbles. "I want to rule the school and bring you back to life officially. Please"

He thinks about it. It was a win win situation, but he could also teach her something else while they trained. Patience, stealth, and analysis. He smirks when an idea pops up in his head.

"How about a bet?" the boy smirks lazily at her. "The day you can sneak up on me without me realizing is the day I will start teaching you. Until then, you will help me solve as many puzzles you can. I want to get to that golden cage"

"Golden cage?"

"When we finish, you'll see" Kenma smiles. Crescent huffs, and she helps him with the first puzzle. The boy stares at her, curious as to why she would do this, but he finds nothing else but determination so he calms down. There was much to teach the girl. Her stubbornness was going to get her nowhere.
