Akira stalked down the corridors from his sleeping quarters, heading towards the Base room where their new assignment would be issued. He had just finished packing since they were leaving immediately. He had a lot on his mind as he walked in his silence, only the tapping of his shoes when they hit the floor as he took each step echoed into the distance. He had now reached his destination, the loud noises from the other side of the door broke his train of thought.
"You can't be serious!" Lesley exclaimed, hitting the system desk with his palms, causing a loud bang sound. "Why do we have to go to that crummy all boys' public school while poker face gets to go to a normal private school?!"
"Evening!" Jin greeted Akira, as he made his way to where everyone was.
"Hey," Akira greeted back as he glanced at the commotion going on.
"Cause I said so," Lucien sighed, crossing his legs in the only seat around the system desk and continued flipping through the printout of documents in his hands. Halo tended to pass on sensitive information concerning an important mission in the form of old fashioned paper.
"For real?!" Lesley argued as he got even more pissed than he was just two seconds ago.
"Now calm down Lesley," Oliver interfered, attempting to cool down the situation.
"This is shit!" Lesley exclaimed in a fit as he crossed his arms. "You say something too Luck!"
"I don't really mind," Luck replied with his usual grin. "I don't think it matters all that much."
"Unbelievable," Lesley sighed, giving up as he rolled his chair over and sat in annoyance.
"If you don't want to go so bad then leave it to Luck," Lucien started, finally putting the documents in his hand down. "He can handle it by himself. Right?"
"Yup!" Luck answered in agreement.
"Fine!" Lesley agreed, only quenching his annoyance by a little bit.
"Oh! Akira!" Oliver exclaimed as he acknowledged Akira's presence in the room.
"You're here," Lucien sighed, as he stood up to begin. "About time."
"What's going on?" Akira asked, avoiding giving an explanation as to why he was uncharacteristically late. The truth is, he had had a nightmare. The same one he's had a few nights, about the night he lost everything.
"Good news," Lucien started, giving a small grin as he laid back in his chair. "Our next mission is the same country that produces the candy you like."
Samizume milk candy, a piece of Akira's past that he couldn't seem to let go of.
"Our new assignment is an A-rank mission that can only be completed as a team," He continued, drawing his chair closer to the table with the holographic window showing a map on. "Our team is to find a very important and dangerous Holder in hiding."
"Our target's Innate is currently unknown," Oliver added, pulling up a torn photo of the target and another man on the holographic window. "The only thing we have to go on is this photo. We can use the face lift software because he never shows up on any cameras."
"Who's that next to him?" Akira asked, noticing that the other person's face wasn't visible as it was torn from the neck to the edge of the photo.
"We're not sure what his relationship to the target or who he is but he's our primary and only clue right now," Oliver stated, leaning on the table a bit as he zoomed into the picture. "What we do know is that he's currently a student enrolled in Kuroi Hana Private Academy."
"Which is why you're going to attend the same school to search for any possible candidate that could be our missing link," Lucien concluded, standing up from his position on his chair.
"We think we have another clue, although not clear yet but," Oliver began, swiping the photo off the screen and pulling up another one. "Someone we think may be helping our target lay low has a brother who teaches at a public High school in a different district. If we find his brother, we find our target."
"Then why not pursue him as the primary clue?" Akira questioned, a bit puzzled since the latter would be the easier route to get to their target.
"Because, he's never met his brother," Oliver sighed, a bit frustrated as he also thought it would've been the easiest method to capturing their target. "They were separated at birth and have never come in contact with each other since."
"I see." Akira stated.
"Looks like it's just us to attending school since Lesley through a fit," Luck grinned, with his hands at the back of his head and letting a little whistle escape his lips.
"It seems that way," Akira accepted, without bothering to complain.
"We'll be leaving in two hours," Lucien stated as he shuffled to his desk and plopped down on the chair. "Pack your equipment."
"So?" Jin queried, moving into Akira's line of sight as he begun to get lost in thought. This was certain to increase his nightmares. And none of the teenagers in the room had ever gone to school after getting recruited, and some not at all. "Do you feel excited to be going back home?"
"Home, huh?" Akira thought to himself. "Is that what it is?"
