Chereads / Terrorist For H.I.R.E / Chapter 9 - Late to Bloom II

Chapter 9 - Late to Bloom II

"What was that sound?!" The guard on the passenger seat exclaimed, referring to the 'thud' he had heard when Akira boarded.

"What sound?" The driving guard who hadn't been paying attention asked.

"I thought I heard a-"

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The guard was interrupted by the shots fired from Akira's gun hitting the roof of the GT. The guards gazed at the dent made on the roof above them in shock, wondering what kind of weapon could easily pierce the armored vehicle if a few more rounds where fired off.

"Shit! We're being attacked!" The passenger guard yelled banging on the wall separating the back of the truck from the front to alert the other three guards who were keeping an eye on their prisoner.

"Bastard!" A heavily armored guard yelled as he fired off rounds of his advanced assault rifle, the MGR 62 A3 of the A3 series- each gun in the series capable of shooting off over 2000 rounds per minute- at the figure that was on the roof.

Successfully evading every shot, Akira returned fire, managing to pierce through the guard's armor and inflict a heavy injury using the Silver Wisp. He turned and shot at the remaining two guards that hopped out from the back of the truck. He shot the leg and torso of the first, attempting to avoid any vital organs, but missed the other guard who docked behind the truck.

While exchanging fire with the passenger guard and the other armored guard, the driver approached from behind, pointing his rifle towards Akira. Dodging fire, Akira unarmed the driver, and ducked when the passenger guard fired allowing the driver behind him to receive the shot in his place.

"Shit! Get him from around!"

Silver Wisp was out of rounds and needed to be reloaded, but with continuous fire in his direction he had to place it back in it's place within his coat.

"I guess I'll have to make more noise than I'd hoped," Akira surmised. Already hearing Oliver's lecture after, in his head.

Jumping out of his hiding place, he closed the gap between him and the passenger guard and placed his hand on him, his palm covering his face.

"Burn," Akira mumbled, before setting activating his Innate and setting the man under him ablaze.

"Ahhh!" The guard cried out in pain, as every part of his body engulfed in blue flames.

"Fuck! You're a holder!" The guard exclaimed, realizing that this fight was beyond his capability. Only a few people in the world know of the existence of Holders, which meant that these guards worked directly for H.I.R.E Labs- Holder Innate Research and Experimentation Laboratory. The guard quickly glanced at the radio inside the truck, wanting to call for back up.

Akira quickly caught on, tracing the guards line of sight to the inside of the truck, beside the driver's seat. Managing to close the gap and cut his path off he stretched out his hand already activating his innate. The guard gazed at the strong electric blue that pierced out of Akira's mask as he trembled in fear, already aware of what would happen next. He had managed to two of the guards alive since his assignment was a Green label, only rescue the target. But now he's killed three others. It all seemed like a waste. As the thought flew through his mind, he gave out a sigh, tired of hearing the guards screams of pain as he lit up in blue flames.

Stalking to the back of the truck, he removes his mask as he opens the heavy doors.

"Mnn!" Motoyasu moaned through his gag. He was blindfolded and had tape over his mouth with his arms tied behind his back, and his legs chained to the caged floor.

"Relax," Akira started as he climbed onto the truck, and kneeled before him, helping him release his restraints and heated up the chains with his Innate until they were hot enough to break apart. "I'm here to help you."

"Who are you?" Motoyasu asked once his restraints were off.

"I'm someone who was sent here to help you," Akira stated.

"Help me?!" Motayasu exclaimed, his eyes surveying every inch of Akira. He looked very suspicious in the all black attire he wore, with his greyish-white hair sticking out of his hood, and his piercing blue eyes. "But you look almost the same age as me."

"You recently developed strange abilities didn't you?" Akira said, ignoring his comment.

"... How?"

"I have them too," Akira stated, showing him aa glimpse of his Innate, as he controlled a small blue flame in his palm then put it out. "Come with me."

"Yes!" Motoyasu responded immediately, his mind and worries completely overwhelmed with earnest admiration for the teenager before him. "You're so cool Aniki!"

"Huh?"

"You're about a year older than me right?" He said in excitement. "You're so cool and I respect you for saving me. From now on you're my big brother! I'll follow you where ever! It's not like I have a family waiting for me anymore since they already sold me to those guys after calling me a freak."

Akira groaned after being taken aback a bit. He did not expect his personality to be this way soon after his own parents sold him out and treated him like garbage after finding out about his ability, or at least react to the sight of dead and injured bodies on the ground. The government would have most probably erased the fact their son was a Holder and claimed he's died or something by now. Those H.I.R.E bastards would have had the opportunity to experiment on him in that case.

"Hey Aniki!" Motoyasu continued, mostly ecstatic and relieved to realize he wasn't the only 'freak' in the world. "Are you listening? What's your name?"

"Shush!" Akira exclaimed as he grabbed Motoyasu and hid behind a tree, as sirens in the distance grew louder. "Let's go."

"Is that the police?" Motoyasu questioned, as Akira dragged him by the arm as they sprinted across the bushes to the other side of the road. "Are they after us?"

"Keep it down," Akira said as he tapped on the com-device in his ear to trigger a reconnection.

"Akira?" Oliver's voice came through. "Have you secured Motoyasu Satoma?"

"Yes,"

"Oh! Is that the person who sent you to save me?" Motoyasu gasped, overhearing their conversation.

"Please stop talking," Akira stated, stopping them and ushering him to hide behind the nearest tree.

"I see he's a hand full," Oliver chuckled lightly.

"Quite," He sighed, glancing in the direction of sirens opposite them. "There may be some H.I.R.E guys mixed in with the police that have IDMs, since Motoyasu's Innate was just dampened the IDMs shouldn't pick him up, but if I attempt to escape with him it might draw suspicsion so I'll separate from him and draw their attention. Please lead him back to the apartment."

"Got it!" Oliver acclaimed. "Good work."

"Listen to him and follow the directions he gives you," Akira said, placing a linked com-device in Motoyasu's ear. "I'll be there shortly."

"...Okay," Motoyasu agreed, after a little hesitation.

Hearing a few sirens blaring as they got closer to their direction, he hid Motoyasu deeper into the darkness behind the tree and ran out across the road then jumped over the wall separating the highway and the building complex under construction on the other side. With the sirens passing into a far distance now he resumed his pace and began trekking home, unaware of the figure watching behind him.

"Huh? Hold on..." The figure dressed in the school uniform of Kuroi Hana Private High School gasped, gawking as Akira stalked down the road. "Isn't that Lily?"
