Wei Wuxian quickly learned having Suibian with him, well it was only getting in the way. Closing his fist around his sword that has been with him through everything, through every life, well it was heartbreaking, to say the least. He even learned fast that he doesn't even need his sword for two reasons. One; he gravitates without his sword. He found this out when he tripped for a split second and it was only the second that it took for his core to overdrive and have him hover in mid-air and with Suibian leaning up against his bag. This one wasn't surprising at all considering he was able to do this with resentful energy so it shouldn't be anything different with Spiritual energy if you are strong enough. Two; he can transport himself anywhere with just a simple thought in his mind. Now this one came to be a shock to him. He can't even comprehend what even happened until later that night it happened.
It all started at the beginning of his trip to Caiyi town. He flew out of Lotus Pier after saying goodbye to his Shijie and the Clan Leaders. He flew a full day and night before he decided to take a pit spot thinking he must need some rest, which came to another shocking factor as he seems not to only not need sleep but also food, Wei Wuxian was halfway there and would make it right on time, but the next day he couldn't help but think of Caiyi town for a moment realizing he's never visited that town that holds so many memories that don't even exist anymore. He wanted to crumble into himself before he knew it, Wei Wuxian with his belongings in his hands, found himself in the very street he was thinking of in just a blink of an eye. He was stunned and so were some of the citizens of Caiyi town once they witnessed such a beautiful man appear out of nowhere.
Stunned for a moment, Wei Wuxian quickly covered his face with his bag and took off to get out of citizens' eyesight and ducking away into an alleyway. He was still shaken by what just occurred a moment ago but decided that this isn't the most important thing at the moment. He needs to get off the streets and hide away in an inns room somewhere but there is no doubt in his mind that the gossip of Wei Wuxian's appearing out of nowhere was already seen, spreading like wildfire. He just hoped that no one here knew who he was and what his name is. Also, there is another problem altogether however but he doesn't even want to think of this at the moment, he needs to get a move on or he won't get done before the Lan Disciples come down. There isn't a doubt in his mind that they were already aware that there is something in their waters, and there were already unexplained deaths by drowning in a town where even a toddler knows how to swim.
Taking a deep breath Wei Wuxian steps back into the streets and keeps his head down to find an inn that would take him in for the day and keep his stuff there for at least three days. Luckily for a weekday that was in the middle of the week, the town was quiet, so which means he must've gotten here before the traffic that he remembers in both of his past lives. Thanking his luck this far Wei Wuxian unpacked his bag and set the desk up with paper and ink and got right to work to make the talismans he needs for the upcoming days, a room service kept bringing him tea in and have them refill once he was done, but he hasn't even touched one jar of alcohol once, even though he craves for that sweet relief. Shaking his head Wei Wuxian looks out the window once he heard the seventh bell that rang high up from the mountain that comes from Cloud Recesses, telling him it's seven at night.
Stretching out his shoulders Wei Wuxian got up from behind the desk, grabbing Chenqing and marching out of the inn, telling the shopkeeper he will be back in the morning, hopefully, and at least give him today to return, though Wei Wuxian knew he will return in at least two days but more likely only in one night he will be done, just in case if something goes wrong, Wei Wuxian needs time to make sure to accomplish his mission he has set out for himself, and now that he is an Immortal there is no doubt he will return alive and unharmed.
Coming over the water edge by the docks, Wei Wuxian rents a boat, but overpays for the boat just in case something were to happen to that boat. Paddling the boat further down the river and far away from the town Wei Wuxian takes a talisman holding it in his lips and he claps his hands and a large golden light with a hue of red flashes straight from Wei Wuxian rising into the air and expanding throughout the sky and creating a dome over the river part of the forest trapping what was underneath his boat and him. Hearing a large roar that was in the rage of the Waterborne Abyss when it realized it was trapped.
The Waterborne Abyss shot out seaweed to attack Wei Wuxian but Wei Wuxian didn't even need to raise a hand because just as he thought of it, red spiritual energy started to swarm around Wei Wuxian, attacking like a shield and cut it down from the roots of the Waterborne Abyss causing the monster to roar in pain, shaking the water and even causing large waves to rake over the dry land that reached up to the top of the trees.
The entire town felt it, even though it was in the middle of the night all of them that were able to leave their beds without help, ran out of their homes or shops to look out to where the river is to see the large red dome that surrounds a good portion of that river. It spooked them all, even some of the men who were either really brave or just really stupid, decided to climb onto the boats and paddle out to where the dome meets while others were smarter and climbed on a horse to go to the entrance of the stairs to the mountain where a pair of Lan disciples were on patrol and reported the strange activity on the lake which both take to their swords to see for themselves before they went to report to Lan Xichen.
However Wei Wuxian was in no mood to deal with anyone so he worked quickly and used resentful energy and lifts the Waterborne Abyss from the lake causing the disgusting black throbbing ooze ball of flesh out in the open and Wei Wuxian threw a talisman that caused a huge golden flash that blinded anyone on a ten miles radius of the dome and once the light was gone it was over, and the dome along with Wei Wuxian and the Waterborne Abyss went without a trace. Wei Wuxian used his newfound powers to teleport himself back to the front of the inn he is staying in. There was no boat that could have been returned so he didn't even bother. He nods to the Innkeeper, and goes up to his room, and falls onto his bed but sleep never comes. He sighs, knowing he will never need sleep again when he wishes he could just doze off into the darkness and let his conscious wonder.
…
In the end, Wei Wuxian just continued to lay in his bed and leave his eyes close until he felt the sun hit his face from the open shutters that he left open the day before. He decided he acted that he had more than enough "sleep" so he rolls out of the bed and ordered a bath to be brought into his room and drawn for him while he sipped on tea. Once he was freshly cleaned and dressed, removing all evidence of the night before Wei Wuxian was more than ready to meet the day and the outside world. Wei Wuxian walks to the streets, and already rumors were spreading. People are already connecting the dots of the beautiful stranger that magically appeared in the middle of the streets and the sudden mysterious drownings in Caiyi town coming to a halt.
Wei Wuxian had to act fast, so he came to a stall of hats and bought one with a veil to cover his appearance. He quickly hid in an alleyway and teleports to his Inn's room and quickly dressed out of his red and black robes and put on some light blue ones and was about to remove his red ribbon but couldn't bring himself to, so instead he braids his hair and weaves it into the braid and leaves it falling and still his hair reaches his feet. Shaking his head at his appearance, Wei Wuxian puts on the hat before teleporting back into the alleyway of Caiyi town and goes to hopefully find his brother before he leaves again.
It didn't take long to find the angry-looking teen who was being followed in by Nie Huaisang. He watched the both of them breaking from the other disciples and walking into a tavern before he followed them in. He watched them take a seat and he went to join them. Both Jiang Cheng and Nie Huaisang looked bewildered when a stranger sat with them, Jiang Cheng, "May we help you sir?" he asked the stranger.
Wei Wuxian, "Well for starters, don't talk to your big brother with that tone." he removes the hat shocking them both with his appearance and just for the fact that he was there in Caiyi town.
Jiang Cheng, "Wei Wuxian? What in the world are you doing here?" he asks. "What happened to you?"
Wei Wuxian, "I was in town and thought I would come to pay you a visit." he lies with ease. "I thought I would check in on you and see how your classes were going."
Jiang Cheng, "And what you decided to pay a random visit at the worst time possible..." he stops to think for a moment, "Please tell me somehow this wasn't your doing." When Wei Wuxian didn't provide an answer, Jiang Cheng slams his fist on the table startling poor Nie Huaisang, but Wei Wuxian was used to his behavior. "Some random beautiful stranger appears out of nowhere and a magical dome was found the night before and in a flash of light, both the dome and the Water ghouls were all gone? DAMN IT WEI WUXIAN WHAT DID YOU DO?"
Wei Wuxian, "First off, don't raise your voice to me, I am your older brother and Head disciple" he puts blankly, "Second off you were gone for a bit and something... changed... that you will be brought up once your home and third it wasn't Water ghouls, I just used them for a cover-up and to mask what it was true is. What I got rid of was a Water Demon called the Waterborne Abyss that would have killed a bunch of you and I knew I could take care of it on my own without any aid or the risk of others so I took care of it for Gusu Lan."
Jiang Cheng wanted to continue to argue with him but knew better, that Wei Wuxian had little tolerance for disrespect. So he swallowed the word that was trying to fight past his lips and let the subject drop, for now. Jiang Cheng, "Are you going to stay?"
Wei Wuxian, "I don't think so, besides after a ...accident... yesterday some people might recognize me and I don't want to cause trouble for the Lan Clan, besides I have other things that need my attention."
Jiang Cheng reaches over the table and takes Wei Wuxian's hand before asking, "Please stay, at least for a little bit?"
Sighing, Wei Wuxian nods and lets them finish their food before putting his hat back on and follows them out of the hub to the Pier where other disciples were ready to dock some boats. Wei Wuxian, "Are you going out to see for yourself?"
Jiang Cheng nods, "Yes but so far there haven't been any incidents after last night. I came along to offer Yunmeng Jiang experts advice with "water ghouls" but it seems like I wasted a trip." but he turns and grins at his brother, "Well other than bumping into you that is."
Wei Wuxian, "Well I am glad to ease your boredom." he shakes his head in amusement.
The Jiang disciples wave Jiang Cheng over as the Nie disciples did the same with Nie Huaisang, letting them know it was time for them to depart. Jiang Cheng, "Do you want to come along?" he asks his brother.
Wei Wuxian shakes his head, "I already got my boat ride the other day, you go on and enjoy yours."
Jiang Cheng snorts before saying, "Stay close by and I'll come find you. Besides I want to know what in the world happens to you to look like a fair maiden."
Wei Wuxian, "I look forward to it." as he watches Jiang Cheng run to the docks and climbs in with the other disciples. Wei Wuxian turns to leave, he didn't realize the pair of white wearing robes walking past him just when a large gust of wind starts to blow and it takes Wei Wuxian's hat up with it and flew to the white wearing robes, and the youngest reaches out and plucks the hat from the wind staring at it in wonder. He turns to be met with Wei Wuxian and Wei Wuxian's eyes widen to find that fate somehow brought him face to face with Lan Wangji.
Lan Wangji's eyes widened on their own too at the beautiful sight, which caused a warm feeling in the pit of his stomach like he was in need of something but wasn't sure what it could possibly be. He knew right away something was beyond different with Wei Wuxian, considering he dreamt of this boy every day ever since he first laid eyes on him. He wanted to do nothing but reach out to touch the face of the man who seems to be too beautiful to even breathe the same air. Wei Wuxian, however, didn't want to stay too long as he snatches his hat out of Lan Wangji's hand and darts to the closest alleyway but he didn't expect Lan Wangji to chase after him.
Lan Wangji, "Wei Ying! Please wait!" he calls out and once he saw that he dashes into the alleyway he thought for sure he would have caught the other but once he took the sharp turn he found the space empty. Even though it's a dead-end, no Wei Wuxian was in sight. Lan Wangji lost him again when all he yearns for is to reach out to touch him and have him, but Wei Wuxian keeps leaving him before Lan Wangji could even look at him.
…
Lan Xichen was shocked to find Lan Wangji running after someone but he didn't get a good look at them before they disappeared in an alleyway, then seeing his brother disappointed and being sluggish making his way back to his side. Lan Xichen, "Who were you chasing after?" he asked his baby brother.
Lan Wangji, "Wei Ying." he mutters.
Surprised by his answer Lan Xichen asks, "Are you sure that was Young Master Wei, it's only been a short while since the incident Lan Wangji. I imagine Young Master Wei would still be recovering at Lotus Pier. Besides Sect Leader Jiang and Madam Jiang both made it quite clear that we are to stay away from their world."
Lan Wangji turns his stare to his brother, "I saw Wei Ying."
Lan Xichen sighs, "Then stay clear of him. Our relationship with the Jiang Clan is on shaky grounds. The last thing we need is to make Young Master Wei uncomfortable and cause even more of a rift between our clans."
Lan Wangji looks down, "I want to bring someone back to Cloud Recesses."
Lan Xichen, "I'm sorry my didi but it's not possible."
Deciding to leave it there Lan Wangji gets on the boat with his brother and they paddled out to the water where many claims to be said of the large dome to have appeared last night. They set up nets and traps to see if there was anything they could catch in the water that was evil spirits, but nothing came to them, so they came to the conclusion that whoever it was to be out here took care of the problem for them all on their own. Jiang Cheng shakes his head but knows better than to comment on the situation not wanting to put his brother in the spotlight.
Once they docked again Jiang Cheng asked to be excused for he was planning to retrieve something he left at the shop he and Young Master Nie went to beforehand. Lan Xichen agrees and decides to disband the group and let them all have the rest of the day to themselves in Caiyi town for a wasted trip and they will make their way back up the mountain the coming morning. Bowing once Jiang Cheng runs off to find his brother but it wasn't needed as he felt arms go around him and after a dizzying moment, Jiang Cheng blinked and found himself in an Inn's room but he lost feeling in his legs so he dropped to his ground.
Wei Wuxian, "I apologize for the sudden scare but I'm not risking for Second Young Master Lan to find me again."
Jiang Cheng, "What in the hell did you do you idiot?' he hisses.
Wei Wuxian, "Teleportation." he remarks.
Jiang Cheng, "When did you ever use teleportation talisman, and how are you still standing after using one?"
Wei Wuxian, "I never did use one."
Jiang Cheng, "How did you teleport then?"
Wei Wuxian sighed knowing his brother won't drop it so he helped his brother to his feet and have him sit on the bed before claiming the spot next to him. Wei Wuxian grabs his brother's hand and places it on his chest right over his golden core before closing his eyes and focusing his breathing, letting his qi come out and it didn't take long for Jiang Cheng to feel the immense power radiating from within his brother and the infinite energy from him. Jiang Cheng, "Y-Your..."
Wei Wuxian covers his brother's mouth with his hand cutting him off before finishing that thought. Wei Wuxian, "I'm sorry my little brother but, it seems you might get to go before me."
Jiang Cheng burst into tears pulling his brother closer to him in a tight embrace. Wei Wuxian, "I'm sorry."
