Chereads / The Grandmaster In All The Times / Chapter 14 - To Learn Is To Forgive Not Only Yourself

Chapter 14 - To Learn Is To Forgive Not Only Yourself

Wei Wuxian falls to his knees at the Lan Ancestral Hall to where anyone could hear his knees crack on the cobblestone. Lan Xichen follows Wei Wuxian close behind, determined to get answers for his brother's miraculous recovery from certain death. Though he didn't expect Young Master Wei to kneel at his Ancestry Hall.

Lan Xichen, "What are you doing?" He asked, not understanding why this young man is seeking punishment. It is he who should be kneeling in Wei Wuxian's place for his harsh words and judgment towards Wei Wuxian.

Wei Wuxian, "Strike me with the disciplinary whip, for I did something unforgivable to save your brother."

This news shocked Lan Xichen, "What could you have done to be punished so harshly? You saved my didi! You should be held as an honorable hero among my people."

Wei Wuxian, "if I tell you, you must promise me not a word will be spoken of this. It is to stay between me, you and Second Young Master Lan Wangji."

Lan Xichen, "I don't understand."

Wei Wuxian, "Promise me! Not for my sake but for your brother! Please promise me Sect. Heir Lan Xichen!"

Lan Xichen, "Alright I promise now please tell me what's the matter?"

Wei Wuxian, "I wasn't willing to let your brother. I wasn't going to let him without me trying my best and every possible way I could to save his life."

Lan Xichen, "What did you do, Wei Wuxian?"

Wei Wuxian, "... I took his purity… while he was asleep."

Lan Xichen was confused but also bewildered, and anger came back again as it was running miles away, so quickly Wei Wuxian explained, "Have you ever heard of the technique of Eternal Qi? It's your life source, what your soul is made of, it's also what you would harness from your sword, because it's what the spirits of the swords host made out of, but most don't know of this. The Eternal Qi cultivation is one of the strongest energies and techniques out there, right up there with Demonic cultivation. It's what caused Baoshen Sanren, my Grandmaster, used to reach Immortality, she passes this knowledge to her disciples and down to me."

Lan Xichen, "What can this technique that has never been heard of doing? How did this technique cause you to rape my brother while he was on his death bed?"

Wei Wuxian flinches, "Eternal Qi, if used the right way is very powerful but also dangerous for both user and receiver is if not used correctly, it takes more training for both the mind and body than it would for a normal cultivator to master this, and even then there is no guarantee, sometimes it just comes down genes and a certain type of person."

Lan Xichen, "JUST GET TO THE POINT!"

Wei Wuxian, "I can pass down a part of my life to another person to give them more time and to heal them to how much health I am in. It won't cause them to be like me but it will save a life of extreme measures. Your brother, Lan Wangji had no other alternatives, not even a simple kiss to pass on my life to his would be enough. I had to go on full-on contact to save his life, so I forced myself on him to make sure he would live, damn the consequences afterward." he explains, but not explaining that how much Wei Wuxian passed on was enough to Wei Wuxian's own mortal life and would kill any user, even his Sect. Uncle Fei Huaguang has been using the Eternal Qi Cultivation longer than him. The only reason Wei Wuxian survived was that Wei Wuxian was an Immortal now, but Lan Xichen doesn't know how Eternal Qi works so he doesn't need to share this term with him to hide Wei Wuxian's biggest secret.

Lan Xichen, "How did you know this was going to be enough? How did you know you mastered this Cultivation enough to not endanger both you and Lan Wangji?"

Wei Wuxian, "Because Lan Wangji and I are soulmates and soul cultivators partners. My energy is a match to his own, that's why I know it would work, and also I mastered this Cultivation along with Spiritual… a long time ago."

Lan Xichen's eyes went big but were beyond, and even more confused than ever before. "How could you…"

Wei Wuxian, "My Grandmaster once told me to not open your mind to the world, because the less everything becomes confusing, the less you gain headaches."

Lan Xichen, "You met Baoshen Sanren?"

Wei Wuxian, "A long time ago, she was the one to pass her secrets to me to care after my late mother."

Not knowing what to do in this situation and confused, angry but hurt, and understanding, Lan Xichen took a deep breath. "I will overlook this action and situation this once. I will not punish you and make that mistake again with you, Young Master Wei, but I have a question."

Wei Wuxian, "What is it?"

Lan Xichen, "I believe you when you say you are Lan Wangji's soulmate, but why push him away?"

Wei Wuxian, "Would you believe me if I told you in all my lives I found Lan Zhan, and in one of those lives he killed me for a crime I didn't commit? Would you believe me that he hurt me, everyone, I ever loved and cared for hurt me in a form or another. Would you believe me if I told you that I am simply tired, tired of being hurt, tired of being used, tired of being in pain, tired of it all, that when it comes to my time to... rest I won't leave anyone behind with no worries or guilt… because I am simply tired of opening my shattered of glass heart to others."

Lan Xichen listened and even felt a tear full from his eyes. Does he believe him? How could this be possible, but if it was it would make a… lot of sense about this boy with too many years then he gained behind those sad eyes. "I won't question it but I won't speak a word about what has happened today or what we spoke about Young Master Wei, but may I ask if you are not going to make any connections with my brother, would you simply stay away from him?"

Wei Wuxian, "That won't be a problem. Just also keep him from searching for me as well please then we won't cross paths even if we were face to face again."

Lan XIchen, "I will see to it, Young Master Wei. What am I to tell the Lan Elders about Lan Wangi's recovery?"

Wei Wuxian, "Tell them the half-truth. Just not how exactly I saved him to save Second Master Lan some face. Do whatever you have to do, just leave your brother out of this and make sure he takes his own path."

That's what he did, he told a half-truth how Wei Wuxian used unknown cultivation that saved Lan Wangji's life, that was passed onto him by his Grandmaster that everyone knew since it's no secret that Cangse Sanren was the head disciple of The Grand Immortal Baoshen Sanren. They pledge Wei Wuxian as an honorable hero in their sect, to where even Lan Qiren was on his knees and head to the ground begging for forgiveness and thanks to the young boy promising he will try to earn the young boy's forgiveness.

Qingheng-Jun came out of seclusion even to make sure his youngest son was indeed alright after the news that he almost died but was saved by his old friend's son, Wei Wuxian. He personally thanked Wei Wuxian for his service and promised that no matter what the Lan Sect. will always have Wei Wuxian's back for saving their Second Young Master Lan, before going back to seclusion again wishing his sons the best.

It was shocking to meet the Qingheng-Jun of Gusu Lan as it was being the first time ever seeing the man who abandoned his sons and wife. Wei Wuxian would be lying if didn't hate the man. His words and thanks meant nothing to him. Wei Wuxian left his family to keep them safe, unlike that man who left his family because of guilt and peer pressure from the Lan Elders who are nothing but grouchy old people who need their naps.

Wei Wuxian was asked if there was anything he needed, and Wei Wuxian asked if they would still agree to let himself go into seclusion in the back of the mountain so he could go home with his brother since the year was almost over.

A Lan Elder, "It isn't needed to go into seclusion, Young Master Wei. How you were treated before your clan left was wrong and we all did self-reflection to make sure no one, especially you, would be treated in such a way again."

Wei WUxina, "It isn't for punishment Wise Lan Elders," he sweetly told them, "I had a tiring trip and wish to rest for the time being. I am not in much need of classes as I already memorized more than half of your library. Meditation is what I need the most at this point."

Nodding their heads they seemed to understand and buy what Wei Wuxian was dishing out to them before agreeing with him and gave him the Gentians House and let Sect. Heir Jiang Cheng to visit whenever he liked before his studies were over.

Lan Wangji was over the moon to learn Wei Wuxian was going to stay in Cloud Recesses and was ready to ask his family's blessing to court Wei Wuxina, but was stopped by Lan Xichen before he was about to leave to meet with their Uncle.

Lan Xichen, "May I speak with you brother?"

Lan Wangji, "Of course." he says letting himself be led by his big brother to his own quarters.

Lan Xichen, "I know what you are about to do, and I must say you must not ask for Young Master Wei's hand. I forbid it."

Shocked to hear this, Lan Wangji couldn't help but feel a little resentment towards his brother, "Brother Wei Ying is not bad, he saved me and I must take responsibility for how he saved me, we… we…"

Lan Xichen, "I know brother, I know what you two did. He told me and it's very honorable that you want to take responsibility for that day, but it isn't what Young Master Wei wants brother and I and him agreed upon. It would be for the best if you two went your own separate ways."

Lan Wangji, "Brother!"

Lan Xichen, "Lan Wangji!" he raised his voice back, "Stop and think for a moment, please! If you go to our uncle and explain what he did you will ruin BOTH of your LIVES! We agreed it's for the best and it was HIM who suggested not to pursue your brother. I must insist you stay away from him from now on!"

Lan Wangji, "I cant! I love him and I won't give in until he tells me face to face! Even if it never comes to it I will always wait for him!"

Sighing knowing it might have come to this, Lan Xichen waved his hands and sent spiritual binding robes to tie down his brother who struggled once they tied him down. "I know brother, that is what I was afraid of but I have to make sure you stay away forever."

Lan Wangji, "Hua-gege please don't do this!"

With silent tears from his eyes, Lan Xichen raised his flute and played a haunting tune from the book of turmoil and focused on the only memories his brother has of Wei Wuxian and personally blocked them from his brother's mind forcing his brother to forget him and to move on with his life. Just even the thought was enough to fog everything to come to Wei WUxina. Once he was done Lan Wangji passed out from exhaustion and even Lan Xichen wavered on his feet once he stopped playing. He released the ropes on his brother before gathering the younger in his arms and placing Lan Wangji on his bed, before gathering himself together again before letting his uncle that Lan Wangji was resting from passing out because he was still exhausted from his wounds and he decided not to tell anyone about them.

Lan Xichen was going to carry the fact that Wei Wuxina and Lan Wangji are soulmates and that he stole his brother's memories and hid them in the deepest parts of his baby brothers mind not to be able to be reached again, he was going to carry all of these secrets to his grave.

The Year was finally over and Wei Wuxian was helping his brother packing and retired his sunhat to his head again, leaving the new red veil that he bought from the town below the mountain to cover his appearances. He was getting tired of his hair always being in his face but decided not to cut and pulling it was beyond ridiculous so for the most part he had it fully down and tied his red ribbon on his wrist to not lose it.

Jiang Cheng would always make fun of him but would help brush his hair whenever Wei Wuxian would ask saying that he might have to ask Jaing Yanli when they get home, and the both of them couldn't wait to see their sister again anyway, so side by side they were making their way out of Cloud Recesses.

Lan Wangji was by his brother's side, walking right along his side after being permitted to make a full "recovery". Besides, he wanted to make sure the guest disciples were making their way okay without trouble. The last group that was leaving was the Jaing Clan and their clutter of different shapes of purple stood out to him but what stood out the most to him was the man beside the Sect. Heir Jiang Cheng. His appearance was blocked by a veil that was attached to a sunhat that most would see on farmers but this one was more extravagant, it looked to be made of metal the hat alone and the vail was no double see-through silk. The man wore red robes with a hint of black to them not to even mention the longest hair he has ever seen that would be counted as inappropriate for a mere cultivator as long hair was seen on Immortals or royals but even royals wouldn't wear their hair that long. The man was odd and stood out the most but his brother paid them no mind and decided not to pay him another glance and kept walking past the man, the both of them going their separate ways.

Looking back Wei Wuxian watches Lan Wangji leave along with his brother and smiles a little but couldn't stop himself from shedding a tear, "I not only forgive you," he mutters, "But I am also letting you go now Wo Xin." before turning his attention to his own brother and leaves Cloud Recesses behind feeling hundred times lighter but with billions of other weights still on his back.
