Chapter 3 - Chapter 2

Updated 7/27/20

You wake up from the sweet comforts of the bed, looking over at the Butterscotch-Cinnamon pie slice. You pick it up and save it for later.

I feel like I might need this. . .

You walk out of your room and head towards the living room, where you find Toriel in the same spot by the fire. You walk over to the fireplace.

* The fire is pleasantly warm.

* You are able to put your hand in it.

You turn to Toriel, satisfied at the presence of the fire.

"Do you need something, little one?" Toriel asks, setting down her book for a moment.

"How do you exit the RUINS?" You ask.

"Ah, how about you stay here instead! I have so many old books to show you! Here's a snail fact: Snails talk. Really. Slow." Toriel pauses. "But snails can't talk. Oh! I can show you my favorite bug-hunting spot too!"

"That sounds so fun, but I really have somewhere to be," you think about what happened with Flowey. "So I want to know how you exit the RUINS." You plead. You watch as she gets up from her chair.

"Excuse me, my child. There is something I should have done a long time ago." She walks off from where you came, heading down the stairs you haven't thought about going down until now.

I feel intimidated-

You follow her down the stairs.

"Please go back to your room, my child." Toriel states, a desperate look on her face.

You continue to follow her down the long hallway, turning the corner. The walls provoked you, making it feel like they were closing in on you.

"Go to your room." Toriel threatens, trying to get you to go back.

I'M A MAN- I shall not back down. Is this why no one likes me?

You follow behind her, watching your footsteps also. You don't want to trip over something.

She stops in front of a large purple door, with a sign on it. You already saw this sign a lot, so you're thinking that it's just a symbol for the RUINS. You stop right behind her as she turns around to face you.

"I've seen it all before. They stay. They leave. They die. They. . . Asgore will kill you. So, if you really want to leave, prove to me," Toriel pauses, preparing her magic. "Prove that you are strong enough to face the world out there!"

Hold up-

You enter a fight with Toriel. You feel familiar with the controls and go to hit ACT. You talk. It doesn't seem very effective.

But I don't want to fight!

Toriel attacks using fire magic. You dodge the bullets, but take some damage.

HP: 16/20

You decide to hit MERCY, and Spare instead. Toriel doesn't speak.

HP: 13/20

You hit Spare again.

"Why are you doing this?" Toriel pleads.

HP: 9/20

* Spare

"Fight back!" Toriel says, throwing fire bullets at you.

HP: 2/20

* Spare

Toriel's face starts to droop into a sad expression. The bullets are avoiding you.

She isn't going to hurt me. . . is she?

You try to run into the fire, but it keeps moving away from you.

She won't kill me.

Toriel pauses in the fight.

"Why won't you fight back? You are going to die out there. Asgore will kill you." Toriel's face softens.

The fight screen closes.

We're done?

Toriel reaches down and hugs you. You gladly return the embrace with a smile. Without you realizing, a few tears drop down your cheeks. How could you have grown so attached to someone you just met?

"I know, the RUINS seem small once you get used to them. This is no place to raise you. Please be safe out there, my child. And when you leave, please. . . Don't come back." Toriel turns to leave.

"Thank you, mom. I will be safe, I promise." You say softly, going back to hug Toriel again.

You feel hurt that you won't be able to come back, but that's okay.

She returns the hug. Toriel is trying not to cry by sniffling up her tears.

You wave goodbye to her and walk out the RUINS, knowing that you won't be able to go back, but once you walk out, you already wish that you were back in. It was mega cold outside the doors.

Odd. It was just warm and cozy, but now it's snowing? It feels so familiar.

You observe around you. There is a bush to the left of you that has a. . . camera hidden inside of it?

Am I being stalked?

You shiver, but continue walking, looking at the tall trees looming over you. You walk past a heavy stick; one that you can't even pick up yourself.

SNAP

Wha-?

You feel a dwelling fear in the pit of your stomach. Oh, how you hated being afraid. You walk back towards the stick to see it shattered into pieces.

I couldn't even pick up this stick, but someone SHATTERED it?

Oh no no

YOU AIN'T GETTIN' THESE TITTIES-

You start to run, hearing the snow crunch under your feet. You see a little bridge with circular boards on the sides of it, but you fall before you can reach it.

MY ASS

You mentally facepalm yourself before getting back up, brushing off the snow. You swore you saw a figure brush behind you.

NOPE, IM LEAVING

You walk a bit more carefully to the bridge, but you stop after hearing another sound behind you. Footsteps were approaching. You knew from the sound of the snow.

The person stopped.

A-are they going to leave? I'M INNOCENT, I PROMISE

"H u m a n." A deep voice boomed from behind you.

I GUESS NOT

You quickly turned around, ready to see what scary monster was awaiting you. It reaches out its hand, but you are too scared to take it. Your hand moves itself and quickly takes it's hand. You hear a farting noise as cold fingers wrapped around yours.

. . .

"Heh, the old whoopee cushion in the hand trick." The monster laughs to itself.

Its-

"You're a [normal] human, right? I'm Sans."

-a dude. . .

"Sans the skeleton." He reads your facial expressions. "Hey, are you okay?"

He reaches back out to you, but you drop to the floor in a daze, fainting.

You know what? I'm just going to take a nap here- you can chug hotdogs or something.

Sans grabs your shoulders, shaking you.

"What happened?!" He says, concerned.

"Ah. . ." You say, not able to make out any full words before you black out. You never had a good mind on your shoulders or a very stable body. Years of self-harm catch up to you at some point, apparently.

At least I tried to use manners. . .
