*Flashback of a few minutes before Ian entered her room*
Adina barged in her room, closed the door behind her and sat on the bed frustrated. She opened her messily made up bun with a hair tie and combed her fingers through the curls. That's what she always did when she got frustrated. She thought,'What could have I done? Was it even my fault in the first place?' She spaced out. A few moments later she heard a knock on her door.
Outside the door Aiden knocked twice and thought,'What the hell am I doing?' then opened the door without waiting for a reply. As soon as he entered the room, a strong smell hit his senses. He closed his eyes and his palms curled into tight fists. He sighed deeply while muttering under his breath, "enfer sanglat (bloody hell)".
For some moments he didn't say anything and just deep breathed while standing at the entrance. Adina said, at last finding the courage to ask him why he was here,"A-Aiden? What is it?"
Few beats later he said,"You have a habit of disobeying me, right?"
"I- what?"
He rolled his eyes then said,"Nevermind I-" he looked up and stopped.
Adina looked at him then around the room then again at him," Umm.. if- if you don't want me to work in your company then don't worry, I- I'll talk to Ian and make him understand. I don't want you two to fight because of me. It's your company as much as it is Ian's and if the decision is not made by you both then I ...respect your choice." She said and gave him a small smile. That was maybe the first time ever that she had smiled at him.
"I- you- you can work for him. I agree with Ian's decision." he said looking anywhere but in her eyes. It was like he wanted to say something more but he just couldn't.
Silence engulfed the room. One can even hear Aiden gulping down the lump in his throat. A few minutes later, he cleared his throat making Adina finally blink her eyes and come back to reality and realise what he just said. She finally said,"Th-th-thank-thank you!" Her eyes were as wide as saucers 'cause it was unbelievable.' How did things go like this? How did he agree? Why did he agree? Am I hearing things? Is my mind planning tricks on me?' All these thoughts were running in her head.
He sighed, looking down and saw a hair tie lying on the floor. He went and picked it up then closed the distance between him and Adina. She was more shocked now and looked at him with wide eyes. "He is right. I'll give you a chance... but... only for him." He lowered himself and Adina tried to back away. She was hella scared. Aiden gripped her right wrist and placed the hair tie in her palms the curled her fingers in a fist around it. All this time Adina was thinking,' Who is right? What chance? For whom? What the freaking fuck are you doing man? Who even are you? Where did the Aiden, I know, go? You can't be him! you just can't be. Back away... please.' As Aiden stood back up Adina gulped and took a deep breath and smelled musk. She stopped breathing then and there. Aiden, without saying any word, turned around and left.
As soon as the door closed behind him, she let out a breath and panted a little 'cause she had literally stopped breathing. She looked in the mirror and saw that her cheeks were flushed pink probably because of the lack of the oxygen. She lightly slapped her cheeks continuously and at last, face palmed herself in exasperation. 'What the fuck just happened?' That's when the door opened with a loud thud yet again and her heart rate picked up until she saw Ian, though she was still confused why he had to open the door with such a loud bang. Was he okay?
*End of flashback*
BACK TO THE PRESENT.
"Ian I had to talk to you about something" Adina said in a slow voice.
"Huh? Sure, what is it?" he asked tilting his head a little.
"What should I do, regarding my resignation? Should I send then by mail?"
"Do nothing. They'll soon send you a notice and after that hand in your resignation... through mail of course."
"Reason?"
"You found a new and better paying job?"
"They'll think I went for job hunt rather than work and not to mention I'll have to reimburse the money they gave me but I have used them a little during the first few days."
"Duh! You'll recieve your joining bonus" he rolled his eyes at her
"Smartass" she commented, playfully smacking his arms.
"That I am!" he said smirking proudly and Adina giggled.
"I also have one more question that's eating my head" she said, biting her lower lip nervously. She wasn't sure if it was okay for her to ask that question or not.
"Oh now I know why you are behaving so dumbly these days. That's why, right?" He joked making an oh face, like it was a great realisation.
"Shut up! I'm serious Ian. Can I ask you?"
He laughed at first then raised his right eyebrow, seeing her getting nervous by the second,"Yeah?"
