As they left, Aiden turned around and before anyone could react he took her hand and went out of the living room, towards her room. Ian stood frozen on the spot trying to process everything.
Adina was struggling to get out of Aiden's grip but to no avail. "Aiden, stop please. It hurts. You grip is way too tight. Leave me!" she struggled but Aiden let go of her only when they reached her room.
"Oww... what was all that?" she asked rubbing her left wrist. Aiden turned around and when she looked at him she was stunned.
He advanced towards her, yelling,"DO YOU HAVE ANY FUCKING IDEA WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED TODAY? YOU DON'T REALLY TAKE YOUR SITUATION SERIOUSLY, DO YOU?" She was backing away from him until her back hit the wall. He was dangerously close to her.
"I-I-.." she tried to form words but failed and looked down.
"You can't even imagine what could've happened today if I wasn't fast enough. Nobody except for me, Ian, David and Tanisha knows about you being here and you are taking chances that won't end well for you.." he lowly growled.
"STOP IT AIDEN. You are scaring her", came Ian's voice, who just entered the room and was standing at the entrance only.
Aiden looked at him and then again turned to look in front of him towards the small quivering figure. Adina was scared. This was the first time she has witnessed *this* with her own eyes. Yes, they fought many times before but Aiden was never this angry. His eyes had turned a fiery red and his fangs were visible. Adina was trembling with fear. She had turned pale She was scared to death and it was all evident. Seeing her like this, Aiden took deep breaths, calming himself back to normal and said,"I- I am sorry. I didn't- didn't mean to..."
"It-its o-okay", her voice came out a mere shaking whisper. Her breathing uneven. Tears were pooling her eyes and she bit her lip trying not to sob or burst full on crying.
Ian came forward and put his hand on Aiden's shoulder but Aiden, without saying anything, glanced once at Adina and left the room with long strides. Adina slid down and crouched, with her back supported by the wall. She covered her face with both her hands and tried to even down her breathing and not to just burst out in tears. Ian also crouched down in front of her and took her in a hug shushing her and patting her head lightly. He said in a sweet comforting tone,"Shhh.. it's ok. I'm here. Don't worry."
She couldn't hold it back anymore. She lept and hugged him so tightly like her life depended on it. In between hiccups she would say,"I.. I- I didn't... I didn't mean.. to. I'm-... I'm so so-sorry. Sorry."
He rubbed circles on her back trying his best to assure her that she was safe and calm her. He said,"Shh.. he wasn't angry at you. it's not your fault. Calm down Adina, please." He thought in his mind,'He wasn't angry at you Adina. He wasn't angry at all. I know what he was feeling.' He sighed.
He took her to bed and she slept while hugging her pillow. She didn't allow him to leave as she was still very scared and Ian didn't leave her side either. When she was sound asleep only then did Ian step our of the room.
He sighed heavily and made his way downstairs towards Aiden's study where he knew the said man would be. He entered the study without knocking and as he was closing the door behind him, he heard a voice,"Is she okay now?"
"Huh? How did you know it was me?"
Aiden turned around in his chair and faced Ian,"Your smell...."
"Oops! how dumb of me..",he said sticking his tongue out, trying to lighten up the mood but failed in doing so.
He asked again,"Is she fine now?"
"Yes. Asleep.."
Aiden sighed then Ian continued, "after bawling her eyes out."
Aiden didn't look at him but outside the window towards the half moon. Some minutes passed but no words were spoken. Finally Aiden said, still looking out the window,"Wanna go on a hunt today?"
"Depends!" Ian replied sitting down in the chair in front of Aiden.
"On?", he looked at Ian who crossed his legs sinking deeper into the chair.
"Your answers", Ian replied simply but Aiden raised his left eyebrow in question. "Oh please Aiden! Don't pretend like you don't understand what I mean". When he didn't get a reply he continued, "So you want me to list the questions for you? Okay then."
He glanced one final time at Aiden but Aiden still didn't look at him. So he sighed and started listing his questions,"So, first of all... What was that behaviour in the hall? Why did you behave like that with dad? And don't think of lying or saying 'like what?' because you and I both know how you are with dad and how you behaved after what happened in the hall! Also, what was that all about, with Adina? It was not her fault. You know that too, then why?"
"I don't know, okay? I don't know" ,Aiden replied irritably.
"You don't know or you just don't wanna accept it..... or maybe.... you don't wanna tell me!? What is it?"
