It had been a week since that incident with Aiden and after that, only once did he come back. To say the least they had a very heated argument and Aiden might or might not have pushed Adina back in anger and left the room. Thankfully she wasn't hurt. Also she got permission from Ian to explore the library they had.. of course with Tanisha.
The library there was a big one and she fell in love with that particular room at her first glance.
She loved to read and with that many books stacked in the shelves any bibliophile can reach their peak happiness. All day she just used to sit there by the window after finding a good book to read. It became her daily routine and she never complained about being bored, not even once. Her mood comparatively lightened and was less irritated or worked up all the time. The brothers came to give her phone in the library only as she refused to move from there until it was bed time.
But apparantly after having another fight with Aiden she was agitated and even books couldn't help to tame her anger much and so yesterday onwards she had been grumpy all day. When Ian came in the library to find her just staring in space and not really bothering to read the book in front of her, he knew something was wrong but still didn't say anything. After a bit of hesitation he said,"Good evening."
She turned her head to look at him but didn't give much acknowledgement and replied with a nod,"Evening" and turned again to look out the window.
Ian pulled out a chair and sat down facing her. It was rather odd behaviour on her side. She always used to be full of energy, always trying to make small talk with him. He said,"Do you wanna call anyone today" and handed her the phone.
"Mmhm.. thanks" came the reply. She dialled her mom's number.
"Hello sweetie! How are you?"
"I'm fine mum. You?"
"Don't worry, me and your father are just fine. Though I miss you."
"I miss you too maa, so much."
"Then come home honey. Take a break from your work and relax."
"As soon as I get time, maa. I will come home for sure."
There was silence before her mom said,"I know you are not fine Adina and I also know you won't tell me even if I asked. I don't know the reason as to what made you so upset and don't say you aren't, I can sense it in your voice. I hope everything will be fine soon, just hold on tight. You're strong.. You're one strong woman Adina. Always remember that, yeah?"
"Yes mom... and thank you for the ted talk",she chuckled while saying the last part."I love you Maa!"
"I love you too sweetie and just call me up whenever you feel like talking to someone."
With a yes and bye she hung up the call and looked at Ian who had a slight smile on his face. That was the first time she saw a smile on his face, even though a small one and as soon as she saw that Ian dropped his smile.
"That's it?" Ian asked after clearing his throat.
"I guess... wait a minute, I need to reply to Krystal's texts." After she was done, she gave the phone saying,"Here you go.. Thank You."
He replied with a nod and just as he got up to leave she said," Can you do me a favour and not send your brother ever again?.. please!"
"Huh?"
"See Ian, I can't tolerate him with me in the same room. We tend to disagree and argue all the fucking time. He always brings up my angry self. Whenever he's around it just makes my blood boil. He's a very rude, arrogant and cold hearted person, unlike you and I cannot deal with such kind of beings. So, please never do send him again." The anger which had lightly subsided earlier was starting to come up again.
A few beats of silence later Ian replied,"First thing first Adina, I can't be free 24×7 you see. I have things to do.. more important than this. Sometimes I'm way too busy to attend you. Somethings need more of my attention than my brother's. You need to deal with it. And lastly, you are trying to befriend me so I'll suggest you to never.. I mean it, NEVER ever insult my brother in front of me OR behind my back. I respect and love my brother a lot and I don't appreciate hearing someone say those things about him. He has trust issues and after what you have done well... you know what I mean to say. I hope you understood?" He gave her a challenging look which clearly said,'I dare you to do or say otherwise.' She looked him in the eyes and thought,'That was a low move girl'.
" ...o..ok."
"Better." Saying that he left. She thought,'That was a very bad mistake, Adina. You already knew how close they are. Why did I not think of this? I'll have to mend things with him now and try my best to avoid Aiden'. She face palmed herself on her stupidity and took deep calming breaths so as to not even let the thought of Aiden enrage her.
