Chapter 6 - Chapter 5: The Demon in us All

(Viktor's POV)

After the confrontation with Tiana we both decided to get some sleep.

(Short time skip because yes)

I woke up at my usual 4:30 am. Usually drank coffee and worked on either my guns or my projects, but since I don't have a private workplace, let alone a private room, I decided to roll out of bed and head off to the gym in my combat uniform, black jeans, combat boots, a heavy kevlar best under a grey long sleeve, under my trenchcoat, which had absolutely everything, from drinks to medical supplies to ammo magazines. The base was awfully quiet, which I rather enjoyed for the most part, besides the sound of loneliness. I made it to the gym where all the lights were off, so I fumbled around in the dark for the switch, eventually finding it. My eyes grew in shock, mesmerized by all of the training equipment that was in the gym. 'And to think I could've been training with this rather than cutting down trees, walking for five miles with Paz, and sleeping on a bed made from hot bricks.' I chuckled softly at my own thoughts and walked towards the treadmill, setting how far I wanted to jog, which was about five kilometers. I put on some earbuds and started jogging on the treadmill, listening to a mixture of Sabaton and Avenged Sevenfold. After an hour or two I have jogged five miles, so I stopped the machine before stepping off, breaking a small sweat due to the heat the kevlar gave off, along with the rest of my gear. 'Damn, if that's what it feels like without my Mosin , PPSh-41 or shield, I wonder how it'll feel like if I had a giant bag of different kinds of ammunition.' I snapped out of my small trance and started walking over to the weights and decided to do a light load and do 100 kg weights, lifting them with ease. I started to hear footsteps coming from the halls so I immediately stopped, put all of the weights back where I got them, and jogged to the door, turning the lights off and exiting the gym. I saw some operators walking to the cafeteria from the dorms so I decided to run to the dorm Tiana and I shared. I felt a few eyes stare at me in disgust, fear, or hate, but I decided not to think about it. I slowly tried to open the door, but found it locked, so I tried to knock, but before I did I heard some commotion coming from inside. Curious, I decided to put my ear against the wall, listening in. I heard an argument between a french man and Tiana, so I glanced around seeing if there was anyone or any cameras in the hall, thankful there was none, and turned into a clear gas, entering the room and watch in horror as I see a man in a large hazmat suit beat up Tiana, calling her name's like "slut, bitch," and other things I wouldn't dare imagine. Having enough of it, I reformed behind him with dark red eyes and, making sure my body cam was on, I grabbed the man and spun him around, lifting him up by his collar a good five inches off the ground. "What the hell do you think you are doing?" I growled at him, his suit having the word Lion on it. He only chuckled, "It's none of your business, bad doctor." I can slowly feel the other me clawing for a way out of it's imprisonment, "Listen here, yellow dog, if I catch you beating her or ANYONE in this base, you're walking to whatever crater you call a home without a spine, got it?" I say threatening, grabbing my modified sledgehammer from my waist. "Like hell you will, you're weak and pathetic-" just as he said those words I tossed down the hammer and immediately grabbed his leg, bending his knee the other way, "What was that, prick?" "You're not gonna do shit to me," just then, I easily break his right leg and his right arm, him screaming in pain so loudly that the entire base could hear it. "Now, hobble away like the rat you are and remember this. It is my one and only warning," I threatened again as I lifted him up by the collar and threw him out of the dorm. I sigh, my eyes returning back to the normal steel grey they usually are, "Are you ok, Tiana? Does anything hurt?" I questioned Tiana, who was shaking in shock from what happened in those three minutes. She got up and hobbled over to me and hugged me tightly. Just then, a bunch of other operators, including Six, showed up to the dorm and saw Tiana hugging me, crying softly from either pain, abuse, or both. Six sighed and calmly said, "Doc, take Lion and Caveira to the medical wing, please." "Yes ma'am," a french man said as he grabbed Lion and slowly took Tiana from me and escorted her away. "Crow, explain what happened right now." I simply gave her the body cam I started up and a South Korean woman hooked it up to her tablet, watching closely, watching again and again what happened not believing it. "Grace, what did you find?" "You wouldn't believe me if I told you," she handed Six her tablet and she too was shocked, but tried to not look as shocked as Grace. I sighed, "Look, I did what I had to do, and if I deserve to be put in a jail cell, then do it, I don't care anymore," I said as I raised my arms in defeat. Six calmly said, "You still have to do our simulation." "What simulation?" I asked in confusion. Grace gave off a small smirk and motions me to follow her to an arena looking room, much larger than the Cafeteria and the Gym combined. My eyes widened with some awe as I stand before a large building that was in the center, the arena being surrounded by bleachers. Six walks over to a booth and gets onto the intercom, "Will all operators that are not in the infirmary nor sick come to the arena? Repeat, all operators that are not injured nor sick come to the arena," then she exits from the booth, coming back as many operators besides Tiana and Lion show up. "Today, I have decided to give Viktor his opportunity to show is what he brings to the table in terms of close quarter combat. May I have operators Pulse, Vigil, Jager, Rook and Kapkan as well as Crow come up front and center," everyone that was called stood up and walked over, I followed behind slowly. "Viktor, you will go against these five operators in the arena. Now Viktor, go get your gear ready, guns are in the armory. You five get your gear ready. If there are no more questions, you may go," we all jogged off, the five going to the armory while I jogged to the dorms, since my weapons and hammer was still there. It was a rather quick jog, and I entered the rather messy dorm, walking over to my duffel bag that had a green cross on black, kind of like a medical bag, but different colors. I pull out my PPSh-41 and my knife from the bag before collecting my hammer, making sure my magnum was still in it's holster. After checking my gear, I jogged back to the arena. After jogging back, everyone saw the weapons and we're rather shocked that I had such weaponry, except for the Russians of course, Kapkan grinning. "Still use that old gun, eh comrade?" Kapkan said, nudging my arm with his elbow with a laugh. "Maybe, but I can still kick your ass with it!" I joked to him, earning a chuckle. "Enough you two, it's time to start. Defenders, head inside and prepare your defences. Crow, do you think that will be able to shoot our rounds?" "I'm pretty sure it can, let me check," I responded as I brought my weapons to the armory to load them with their ammunition. Thankfully the PPSh-41 is able to load and shoot the ammunition, so I grab about for extra mags for it, along with thirty bullets for my magnum, loading it carefully as I walk back to the field. A large operator gave me a tube with eyes and wheels and their phone. "Here, you'll need this to drone out the place," I grabbed them and thanked him for them. "I'll give it back, don't worry bout that." He nodded and walked to the bleachers as I tested the controls for the drone and got them down rather quickly. I hear a buzzer and get up, my guns loaded and the drone in a pouch, the phone in another. "It's showtime."
