Chapter 12 - Chapter 11: First Mission (Part 1)

(One Week Later)

(Viktor's POV; DREAMS)

I was in my combat uniform, using my Mosin Nagant, Magnum, and hammer-mace in a large forest, my companion being Victoria and Tiana by my side. Once we got to a decent sized clearing we were ambushed by the White Masks from all angles. I grabbed both of them and threw them behind me before shooting my rifle in one direction. After clearing the bit of enemies there I grabbed a few smokes and threw them down to make a path towards the opening. After I threw the smokes a bullet hit Tiana in the back of the head, killing her instantly. Both Victoria and I would mourne her loss, but we were both under heavy fire, so we ran through the smoke before it would lose it's effect. After getting through the smoke I heard the crack of a sniper rifle, and everything seemed to slow down. I wasn't shot, since no blood came from me, nor did I feel any pain, but Victoria stopped in her tracks and held her gut. My eyes widen as I quickly grabbed her, the only thing that's moving at a normal pace is Victoria and I, both of us falling down, I holding her close to me as I cry deeply, watching the life drain from her eyes. I could do nothing but cry and repeat that I'm sorry I couldn't do a thing to save her. She shakily put up a bloodied hand and covered my mouth, "D-don't worry, I'll be fine, big b-brother," she coughs blood out as I keep one of her hands on her wound. I was choking on my words as she took her last breath in my arms, going limp, dying right in my arms. In pure rage, I stood up and grabbed my hammer-mace before charging into the clearing, ignoring the bullets that shoot straight through me, beating every last one of them into nothing but red mush. After all of the bloodshed, I grabbed both Tiana's and Victoria's bodies and dragged them to me, sadness and sorrow overwhelming me and empty of rage. I saw both of the bodies jolt up but instead of embracing me, they attack me.

(Viktor's POV; AWAKE)

I jolt awake in a pool of cold sweat. This was the fifth time this week I had the same repeating dream, only in a slightly different area each time, yesterday being in Russia and the day before being in the heart of Brazil. This time it was in the woods that was next to my house back in America. I grumpily look over to the oven clock, since Victoria's arrival I would sleep on the couch, regardless of the pain in my neck and both of the girl's offers to switch places if not sleep with them. Every night they offered and every night I politely refused. I have, after all, been sleeping in worse conditions. The clock read that it was only 1:28 in the morning, so instead of going to sleep right there, I got off the couch and tried to sleep on the floor, which surprisingly was more comfortable than the couch.

(Time Skip)

I heard my alarm go off at 4:45 am, meaning that I had to get up. I grumbled awake, having an easier sleep as I made a sticky note on the window saying that I will be gone from the base for a bit, then grabbed my keys and jogged off to the garage to drive my SUV. One day I will take the tank out for a drive around, but not today. I hoped into my jet black SUV and started to drive around the nearby city, just trying to enjoy my morning. I had flashbacks of the past week, remembering the training sessions I had either alone or with Alexsandr. I always felt like I was being watched in there, but that feeling would always shake away when it was over. I'm suprised that no one knows about the relationship, but maybe they're keeping their mouths shut. I remember a few days ago, Six told me that I was ready to go onto a mission, and that she had one ready, but she never told me when and where it is. I was driving back when I got a text from Tiana, but I couldn't text so I called her instead and immediately she picked up, "Hey Tiana, what is it that you need?" "Viktor, where are you?" "Did you not read the sticky note that's on the door?" "Viktor you know I went over to Tina's room to have a small party with the girls, so no I did not." "I forgot, that's why it didn't feel the same in the dorm as it usually does." I heard giggling in the background and Tiana trying to shush them, "Oh really? Missing me already?" I knew from the giggling in the background that she was still at the party, probably doing cleanup, so I had to egg them on, "Of course, Prinzessin." I heard a German girl laughing her ass off after I said that, then she, I assumed, told them all what I said, and I heard more laughter, besides Tiana of course. "I hear there's an audience around, huh? Well are they in a treat," I say as I quietly pull into the parking lot of a run downed donut shop, although it's still having it's business, being mainly the old folks. It also happens to sell the best tasting donuts I've ever had, and some of the others agree. I asked them to make 4 dozen of glazed donuts, a sausage croissant, and a cup of coffee. While waiting they had hung up after I said that they were in for a treat, so I could do nothing but wait. After about an hour the food was prepared and given to me, along with my coffee, so with everything in hand I walked over to the car and got everything inside, and drove off to the base. After a few minutes I made it, entering with ease and parked the car in the garage next to his tank, grabbing everything from the car along with a recruit, before carrying them inside. As soon as the recruit and I got inside Tiana and a few others stood in the center of the hallway, looking at us two. "So that's where you went, out to collect food in the night." "Well, we do get the day off, so I had to do something for the lunch ladies," I say with a smile as the recruit and I carried the donuts to the cafeteria. The ladies there were suprised when they saw the donuts, almost stopping the food. "If y'all want, I'm pretty sure y'all can stop cooking for a bit, since all of you pretty much cook all the time." Some nodded and stopped what they were cooking and walked off while the others finished the batch they were on, put them on plates, and walked off while I setted up the donuts, the recruit being a major help. "Thanks recruit. May I ask for your name?" "James Portland, sir." "I'll tell your instructor about your help, you have my thanks." The recruit smiled brightly and nodded, "Well that's why I joined, sir. I joined along with some of my friends to help others around the world, not to get closer to the operators, nor for bragging rights of working side by side with the best soldiers of nearly every CTU on the earth." "Here, take this, and use it sparingly and wisely when you're in a dire need of backup. Like if you're being pushed around by other recruits, or if you're critically wounded from a mugging," I say as I gave him a pin with a crow's shape on it. He nodded and clipped it onto his shirt collar before jogging off back to the front, wearing the pin with pride yet not boasting on about it. I chuckled slightly as I started to walk back to the dorms with my croissant and coffee, noticing it's almost 6:30. I walked right on in to take a shower, eat and take my mask off to breath easier. While eating and drinking, I heard a knocking on the door, "Who is it!?" "It's me along with a few other girls!" "Give me a minute!" I sigh as I finish the croissant before putting my mask on and walked over to the door, opening it and bringing in Tiana, Victoria, Lera, Monika, and Grace. I invited them all in before walking out of the dorm towards Six's office. After knocking I hear the usual "come in" and walk inside, sitting down across from her. "Viktor, what is it this time?" "I have one small request: can I get Paz from America? I have no one to really take care of her for me back there, and I can see her boosting our overall moral throughout the entire team, since I've figured out that she's always found a way to make anyone happy from any sort of situation. I do, however, understand if you do not wish to retrieve her from America, since she is an adult grizzly." "Hmmm, let's try it. If she does anything bad, we will have to send her back, deal?" "Of course, I'll tell Jäger to get the cargo heli ready." She nodded as I jogged off to Jäger's dorm and knocked. He opened the door and stood straight up, "Viktor? What do you want?" "We gotta pick something up in America, get the cargo heli ready, it'll only be us two." He nodded and shut the door as I jogged to my dorm to get ready. I grabbed some salmon along with my shield, magnum and hammer-mace. "Where are you going, Vik?" "Gotta do something with Jäger in America, I'll be back. And yes, Monika, I'll make sure he doesn't do something stupid." She seemed to smile at this as Victoria hugged me tightly, "Be careful." "I will, always have been careful," I tell her as I pat her back a bit and jog off with my stuff to the heli, stopping by the armory to grab Jäger's AR and handgun before meeting up inside the heli. He grabbed them both with slight confusion, which I only respond with, "Mafia might be there. And last I checked they have ties to the White Masks." He nodded in response as we flew off to the forest that sat next to my house.
