"Time! What is it and how do you get more of it? These last few hours have been a blur but now it's blank. I wish I had more time. I would go back to before I was known as the stupid superhero. Back to where I didn't try any magic and everyone loved and knew me only as Xavier, the shy kid in the back. My eyes close and I fall forwards hitting the ground hard.
I start to foam and cough up blood. Silver stands over me and struggles to get my shirt off. She ends up just ripping it from seam to seam. My heart races. My eyes open and fill with water. Everything I see is a blur.
"You're going to be ok. We got you," I hear one of the girls say. It's Shade.
"Don't die on me now. Stay with me."
Shapeshifter sounded so distant even though he was right there.
"Sky, can we get some more light in here?"
She claps her hands and the lights turn on. I start to regain my strength but it's not enough. I cough up even more blood then my eyes roll and close shut. I stop moving.
I feel Shapeshifter giving me chest-compressions. I can hear them but cannot get my eyes to open and my body to cooperate.
"Do you need me to do mouth to mouth?"
I squint and can see the others look at her.
"I saw where those lips were earlier," Silver says.
"It wasn't what you think. He was shielding me from the fire."
"You sure he wasn't the fire!"
Silver stands up off her knees and approaches Sky. Before she can take two steps, Shade grabs her leg and it starts to vanish and Silver trips.
"Girls, now's not the time nor the place. There is still an army running around outside and no one is doing anything about it. Shade, Sky, you two are with me, Silver, you stay here with Xavier until he fully wakes up and regains his strength. They'll still come for him."
I blanked and heard no more.
