"You bunk here tonight sir."
I bowed to the gent after he opened my door then bid him good day. He left and I entered my room. A cot sat along the far wall trying to squeeze in as tight and close as it could. A dresser neatly done with a sleek shine mirror stood by the sidewall facing the door and adjacent to that a two-person walk-in closet proudly took up the other wall.
Something pokes at my thighs and I pull out the rose. Why I put it in their sill perplexes me. I feel the pedals. Fake! Oh, I would give anything to have Shapeshifter here with me. The closest shakes as if boxes were knocked over and my heart drops. Someone is in there.
I put my luggage on my bed, aim my rose, and stroke the petal. Instantly it transforms into a sharp small dagger and lights up. My heart races a beat and the floorboards creak underneath my weight. I shakily extend my hand as sweat starts to trickle. Maybe I'm just too worried. It could be nothing. The door opens and all that stands in the darkness is one small light showcasing a lamppost. On it stands a floating rose and a lid encasing it.
"This is not Narnia nor Beauty and the..."
I can't finish my sentence. A hand covers my mouth and pulls me into the dark. I slither and try to scream but no use. I bite the hand and it releases.
"Beast!!"
I swing my blade at the shadow and it strikes flesh.
