After 15 hours of flying from America to Shanghai, Amanda can finally say that she is finally back home. Even if she is feeling a little bit dizzy, she still want to see her family first. After she checked out and got out of the airport, she hailed a cab going to LL Automotives, her God brother, Kristen Smith's company. The company focuses on making race cars and luxury cars.
As the cab was moving, Amanda looked out on the window and saw the streets of Shanghai again. She felt like crying but she don't want the cab driver to worry so she held it. Minutes have passed and they've reached the factory. She was awed by the area because it was so big and spacious. The cab stopped by the main entrance and Amanda quickly paid and got down. She was really excited to see her God brother so even if she was holding her luggage, she entered the building. All eyes were on her because she was holding a luggage. Amanda reached the information desk and asked the information clerk.
"Hi! May I know the office of Mr. Smith?"
'She is looking for Mr. Smith! She must be his new girlfriend again!' said a voice. Amanda didn't mind and smiled sweetly at the clerk.
The clerk smiled and said, "Ah yes, it is on the 38th floor. May I have your identification ID so that we can give you a pass?"
Amanda nodded and took her wallet and gave her ID. The clerk looked at it closely as if memorizing her name. The clerk typed something on the computer and gave back the ID to Amanda. She was also given an ID that says 'VISITOR' so she wore it. She thanked the clerk and leaved, but while she was walking to the elevator she heard the clerk whispered.
'Amanda Lao is the name! Must be the new flavor of the month!'
Amanda chuckled and pressed the elevator button. Kristen Smith is known as the 'Playboy CEO' of LL Automotives. Since the elevator floor was on the 38th, and the elevators are on some floors, Amanda looked around the building. It was elegant but formal, big windows on each corner and a high ceiling. Her brother really did his best to make his dream job.
'Ting!'
The elevator rang and Amanda was still wandering around the area. She walked forward and suddenly she bumped into a man. Her bag fell and the man's coffee spilled on his white coat. The busy first floor was liked paused and everyone looked at the seen.
'That girl spilled on Mr. Davis!' a voice whispered.
When Amanda heard that, she immediately pails up. She gathered her things and looked at the man. When she was about to open her mouth, she stopped and was mesmerized by the man that he bumped into. He looked like a man that came out of the books. Chiseled jawline, pointed nose and almond shaped - eyes. Amanda was very drunk with the man's face and that she forgot everything.
"I-uhm, I am very sorry. I didn't mean to-" Amanda was cut by a lively voice that came out of the second elevator.
"Mr. Smith! You forgot the contract!- What happened in here?" Said the jolly Kristen Smith. He looked at Amanda and back to Mr. Smith.
"Oh no! What happened here?" Kristen asked.
"I'm so sorry! I wasn't looking and-" Amanda was cut again.
"It's okay. I don't want to cause a scene" said Mr. Davis. He took the folder in Kristen's hand and walked out of the building. The people in the background suddenly moved and mind their own business. Amanda and Kristen was left alone at the elevator area.
"I'm very sorry Kristen, I am really just out of my head at that time," Amanda said sadly. Even if Amanda did not know who she bumped with, the workers' reaction is enough to know that the man is very important.
Kristen sighed and smiled. "At least you're back, lil' sis" he reached his arms to Amanda's shoulder and gave her a hug. It was a surprising day for the both of them.
"Let's go to mom and dad's place first before we do the bonding! I believe that you don't want to be eavesdropped in the office right?"
"Oh it is already starting brother!" Amanda said jokingly. Kristen laughed and took Amanda's luggage and other stuff. He gave a small action of putting his hand forward saying that Amanda should lead the way. Amanda walked first then Kristen followed.
Kristen's car was already waiting at the entrance. The latest model of LL Automotives, 'Lightning Series 1'. Amanda was astonished when she saw the car. It shouts class and fanciness.
"Wow Kristen! You've created a masterpiece!" Amanda praised Kristen. Kristen laughs and jogged to the front seat to open the door for Amanda. Amanda smiled and entered the car. After closing the door, Kristen ran to the driver's seat and entered.
"Of Course! The 'great' Kristen Smith has done it again! Wait 'til I show you our collection. Your jaw will drop ten times!" He said proudly. Kristen start up the engine and teased Amanda with the sound of the engine. Amanda rolled her eyes and said.
"Tch! conceited," and she looked at the window.
It was a long ride going to Mr. and Mrs. Smith's house. They've entered a big gate that opens itself. A big mansion welcomes them at the entrance. With of course, the collection of cars in the garage. Kristen stops at the entrance of the mansion.
"I'll drop you off here. Wait for me before we go in. I'm just gonna park the car", Kristen said. Amanda nodded and got out.
She steps into the staircase and memories hit her like it was just only yesterday. Every step was memorable,from the moment that she went here the first time and when she left for America. And when she reached the top of the staircase, a tear fell from her eyes. She wiped it out and sighed. It was a happy tear. She just stood there and waited for Kristen.
"Hey! You okay?!" Kristen shouted from the bottom. She gave him a thumbs up and smiled. Kristen ran up the stairs and met her up. He opened the door and two voices welcomed them. But the voices are not in the receiving area.
"Where are they? And whose voices are we hearing?" Amanda asked. Kristen scratched his nape and said "Mom's and dad's voice. Guess they're quarrelling again."
"Quarrelling? They fight?"
"Nah. Just some misunderstandings. I know where they are." He walked to the kitchen and saw the human's behind those voices.
"It says here that we need to use the hand mixer!"
"No! Using our arms is better! Plus we can exercise from it!"
"Exercise? You can't even lift heavy things because your back always hurt!"
"Mom! Dad! I'm back!" Kristen shouted that cut the argument of the two elderly.
"Kristen you're back! Tell your dad he- Amanda?!" said Georgia Smith. She ran up to Amanda and hugged her.
Peter Smith's face was shocked and stiffened like a statue. He looked at his surrounding to check if he isn't dreaming.
"Mom! I missed you!" Amanda said. She got out of the hug and looked at Peter.
"Dad! Why don't you come here and hug your lovely daughter?" Amanda joked. She walked up to her dad and hugged him tight. Peter was back to reality and hugged her tightly.
"I miss you Amanda!" he said.
Georgia could also not help herself from hugging again Amanda.
"Ah family group hug!" Kristen shouted and also joined the hug.
'Ah I'm finally back home' Amanda thought.
