"So let's start from your co-actor, Owen Wu. He is a handsome guy to be honest. He acts well but he is kinda playful when it comes to girls nevertheless, he will respect you. I am sure of that," Haley explained. The van stopped and it seems like they are stuck in a mild traffic and their scheduled time of arrival may delay.
Amanda nodded and listed some important pointers about Owen Wu in her head. She gestured to Haley to continue after that.
"I'll just tell you the ones that you will be focusing on," she took a deep breath. "Next is Chloe Chu, she is your rival in the story but I know that you know that so here is your brief explanation. She is said to be the best actress but she has attitude problems. Meanest of them all!" Haley laughed.
Haley's laughter caught the attention of the busy manager Yula. She faked a cough and said "We'll be arriving late so fix yourselves okay?"
"Yes Ms. Yula," the two said in unison. Then Ms. Yula goes back to calling in some business partners.
"I think we should be quiet," Amanda whispered. Haley nodded and continued.
"So going back, rumors in the building said that Chloe Chu is not like that before. Ms. Yula can witness that but she won't talk about it anymore," Haley spilled in a low tone.
Amada didn't know that Manager Yula managed Chloe Chu before. 'Maybe something happened?' she thought.
"Hmm, what about Tyrone Gao? You said that he is famous. I want to know him," Amanda diverted the topic. Not that she doesn't want to know but she thinks it is a little disrespectful since Manager Yula is in the front seat.
"Ohh Tyrone Gao! The man of my dreams! He is the best actor and won the best actor awards for the last two years! He's nice and you'll easily get along with him," Haley said and started daydreaming.
Amanda chuckled at that and started to read her script in the middle of the traffic.
The traffic lasted for about 15 minutes before they arrived at the venue. Good thing they left early so they arrived early. Plus the meeting time is moved because some actors are stuck in traffic.
Haley stepped out of the van and met with the coordinator. Amanda was still reading the script so she didn't notice. She didn't even know that they were already at the venue.
"Amanda," Ms. Yula Called.
Amanda quickly turned her head up and put down her script.
"Yes, Ms?" she asked. Manager Yula chuckled and said.
"Oh please, call me Yula. It's not like I'm way older than you," she said.
"O-okay Yula," Amada said uncomfortably. She moved to the side where Manager Yula was sitting.
"I've heard that you are living with the Smiths, are you a relative?"
"Oh no Miss- I mean Yula. Uhm, how do I explain this? They adopted me when I was 10," Amanda explained. Amanda's adoption should only be a secret. But Amanda thought Manager Yula was by her side from now on so she should know this
"Oh? I didn't know that. Anyways, I have something to tell you. The director of the movie really wants to know you because you are a fresh star. But I hope that you won't mention the Smiths because Mr. Fang don't tolerate some actresses that came from rich status. Hope you don't mind," Manager Yula stated. Amanda knew that using the Smith's surname would cause some scandal so she used Lao.
"Oh I understand. I also don't want them to get disturbed by this. Don't you worry, I won't use power to be famous," Amanda said with a smile.
Manager Yula nodded and took a deep breath. After that, silence filled the van.
Minutes later, Haley came back and opened the door.
"The meeting room is not yet ready but we can stay in the lounge and meet with the director," she said. She then took her bag and some of the stuff and got down again.
Manager Yula got down after and Amanda was next. She wore her ball cap and got down too. The venue was inside a hotel and not just a hotel but a five-star hotel and resort. Haley guided her to the lounge and made her sit there.
"You should stay here for a while, Amanda. Manager Yula is still talking with the director and she will pick you up here 'cause I will be checking us in," Haley said.
"Wait, what do you mean 'checking in'? Are we going to stay here?" Amanda asked. No one told her that they are going to stay here.
"Well yeah, but we can go back to your apartment later to get some stuff if we have free time."
"Oh, okay," Amanda agreed. Haley also nodded before going to the reception area.
Amanda sat down and looked around the hotel. The hotel's interior was elegant and looked so rich. She saw some paintings hanging on the wall so she stood up to look at them.
There are three paintings that caught Amanda's attention. They are hung side by side and all the designs are flowers. In the lower left of the landscape, there is a logo embedded. A curled up snake with a skull in the middle. It is a small logo but it is very intimidating. That logo looks very familiar to Amanda. It seems like she saw this logo before, but she couldn't tell.
"Hey Amanda. What are you looking at?" Haley asked. It surprised Amanda a bit but Amanda still remained composed.
"Oh just this painting." Amanda said while still looking at the painting.
"It looks wonderful, right? I've heard that the owner of this hotel painted that," Haley said. That caught Amanda's attention. She somehow got interested with the painting and the logo.
"Really? Where do you think the owner is?" she asked. Haley looked at her confused and raised a brow at her.
"Why are you suddenly interested in the artwork anyways?" Haley gave Amanda a cup of coffee.
"Thank you. I just find the artwork beautiful and all," Amanda said and sipped her coffee.
"Well, you can just take a picture of it and sit down. Aren't you tired from standing?" Haley asked.
"Nah, I sat down the whole ride," Amanda replied.
"Make sense."
"Amanda!"
Amanda looked over to see who's calling her and she saw Manager Yula. She walked towards them and smiled.
"I would like you to meet the director of the film."
