With the rewards in mind, Corvus glanced at the brown bag that Ladal Te Touq gave him. He squeezed the bag several times and on different parts as if he was trying to feel what was inside.
'A box... A handle of some sort... A nail??? and... a pair of gloves?' Corvus thought as his face wore a frown--trying to figure out the contents of the brown bag. 'I wanted to take a peak to these items but... It's too dangerous for me to check them out in public!'
He walked along the hallway--absent minded, that consequently got the attention of some PHO staff and newbie hunters he passed through. That said, he simply ignored them and headed to the registration counter where the PHO staff asigned to him was located.
"Uhm... Excuse me, sir! I am done with the orientation." He said, interrupting the busy PHO staff.
The PHO staff stole several glances before he stared towards him. He took a step back in astonishment and gasped. Then, he said, "Yo-You're finished?"
Corvus forced out a smile and nodded in response. He rubbed the back of his head and asked, "Is there something wrong? I mean... I am sure that the system told me that the orientation was complete and I should find for the rewards."
"Uhm..."
The PHO staff could only stare towards Corvus as sweat started to fall from his face. Fortunately, a figure of a man spoke inside the room that was near to the reception counter where the PHO staff stood on stand by.
"What's the matter Krii?" a familiar voice spoke, originating from the man whose figure was slowly revealed as he exited the dark room linked to the reception counters of the PHO staff.
"O-Officer Kal!" The PHO staff named Krii bowed towards the bald old man without a second thought. That said, PHO staff Krii shook out of fear and retained his bow towards officer Kal Bos, with no signs of lifting his head.
Officer Kal Bos took a deep breathe in response and placed his hand towards the shoulder of PHO staff Krii. Then, a sizzle could be heard on PHO staff Krii's shoulder--where Officer Kal Bos placed his hand.
"You did not meet this young man and you don't know anything about him. Understood?" Officer Kal Bos whispered to PHO staff Krii, while the sizzle started to become louder and a weak smoke started to escape from the side of his hand.
PHO staff Krii's face went pale as sweat drips out of his body as if he was doing a work out. His heart beated at its fastest and could only force a word out from his mouth, out of fear.
"Ye-Yes, sir!"
Officer Kal Bos smirked in response as he lifted his hand from PHO staff Krii's shoulder. Then, he shook his hand--removing the smoke it emitted, and said, "Why don't you change your uniform. It seems like it has a slight damage in it."
"Th-Then... I would be taking my leave, sir!" PHO staff Krii did not wait for Officer Kal Bos to respond. He immediately left after he spoke--acting as if nothing had happened.
On the other hand, Corvus stood calmly as he watched the scene played infront of him. When PHO staff Krii left, he stared towards Officer Kal Bos and asked, coldly, "Senior... Is there something wrong with my application?"
"Hmm?" Officer Kal Bos glanced towards him and raised his brows-- seemingly confused about Corvus' question. Then, in the next second, Officer Kal Bos averted his attention back to the monitor attached to the registration counter that was assigned for PHO staff Krii, and said, "Wrong is not the right term for it... More like... Unusual!"
"Unusual, you say?" Corvus sighed, seemingly relieved about something, before he continued, saying, "I am just but an ignorant newbie like everyone else. How is that unusual?"
Officer Kal Bos stared towards him for a few seconds before bursting into laughter. On the other hand, Corvus could only stare towards him whilst wearing a frown.
Only after a few seconds was officer Kal Bos able to notice the weaved lines on Corvus' face. Thus, he calmed himself and said, "You are too sensitive about information compared to other newbies. Either you are one of those exploration addicts or you are one of those extremely cautious and observant people."
"Well... I won't deny it." Corvus said, "I do love explorations."
"Is that so?" Officer Kal Bos responded with a smile. A few seconds later, he made his last tap to the monitor that consequently activated a machine beside it--but was hided behind the reception counter, and said, "Then, you are on the right track!"
Soon, the machine ejected a card with a 'PHO' abbreviation printed on one side. On its other side, Corvus' picture, name, and other information about him were printed out. Officer Kal Bos handed it to Corvus and smiled.
"Welcome to the world of Hunters!"
Corvus grabbed the card and nodded slightly towards officer Kal Bos, saying, "Thanks, Senior! But... Greetings aside... Can I know what's my reward?"
"Reward? From you orientation?" Officer Kal Bos made a few scratches into his scalp as he scanned Corvus from head to toe and murmured, "You'll do. I guess? Oh well... My monthly quota is not yet filled. It would be a waste not to use it."
"Quota?" Corvus asked with a frown--seemingly confused. "What do you mean?"
"It's none of your concern." Officer Kal Bos said with a frown, seemingly irritated.
Corvus could only force out a smile in response. Officer Kal Bos seemed like someone who held a high rank in that PHO office. On top of that, he was amongst the hunter who was in the simulation for the orientation, indicating that he was, at the least, a veteran or an experienced hunter. Thus, based from Officer Kal Bos' response, Corvus knew that he should not pry any further about the 'quota' thing.
'Sh1t! I should have not asked that! I just got my Hunter's Card! What if he take it away... together with the registration bonus!' He thought as placed his hand behind his head and made a few slight bows towards officer Kal Bos.
"Forgive me, Senior! I am just a newbie. I hope that you won't take it seriously!"
