Officer Kal Bos took a deep breath and shook his head. Then, he went out of the registration counter and glanced towards Corvus, saying, "Come! Follow me, young man!"
Not wanting to anger Officer Kal Bos, Corvus nodded in response and followed behind the old man. They left the registration area and headed towards a training room located on the second floor of the said building.
In this Paradiso Hunters Organization branch, half of the rooms located at the second level were allocated for training rooms for the hunters. It resembled a luxury hotel but with walls made of steek that is almost a feet thick.
Its door is also made out of metal that had a scanning device embedded into it--that was lit either red or green. On top of that, the doors had huge numbers painted on them as reference or room numbers.
At this moment, Corvus noticed that there was almost no PHO staff present in that area. Most of the people they encounter are hunters--who still showed respect towards Officer Kal Bos as they went past through them.
Some of them would steal a glance towards Corvus, but would eventually shift their gaze away from him as if they were not interested a single bit towards him. This, in turn, made Corvus force out a smile and thought, 'Should I wear my lightweight space helmet? Though I am not certain, Officer Kal Bos seemed like he is an important figure in the PHO. The other hunters might have ill intentions towards me after seeing me with Officer Kal Bos.'
He pondered for a few seconds. Then, he shook his head and said deep inside, 'It's probably too late for that. We've encountered too many hunters already. It would just be a futile attempt for me to hide it at this point. I could only hope that nothing bad happens to me. After all... I am just starting my journey as a hunter.'
Soon, they arrived in front of Training Room #19. The device embedded in its door was lit green--indicating that it was free to be used.
"Wait inside!" Officer Kal Bos said as he tapped his Hunter I.D. at the device that emits a green light. As a white light shined and scanned the Hunter I.D. of officer Kal Bos, the bald old man glanced to him and said, "I'll grab something quick from my office. I would be back in a few minutes."
In the next second, the metal door opened--revealing the insides of the spacious training room. It had the same training dummies that Corvus practiced with during his orientation simulation. This made Corvus gasp in awe as he was looking at the 'real deal' dummies.
However, because of this, he was not able to notice officer Kal Bos disappear into thin air. He glanced around but unfortunately, he did not see anyone around. Not even other hunters that were usually hanging out in the hallways.
"Where's everyone?" He murmured as he kept glancing around, looking for someone to approach and ask questions. Unfortunately, he was not able to see anyone, not even a single trace of a man's hair. Thus, he had no choice but to simply follow the old man's words and enter the training room.
The moment he stepped in the training room, the metal door slid--close, trapping him inside it. He could not help but gasp as he approached and checked the training dummies inside the room.
"I wonder why did Senior bring me to a training room... Am I going to undergo another test?" He murmured to himself as he forced out a smile. Then, he said, "I hope not... But it would be great if he would give me more information that was not included in the orientation--like information about Cores and Dungeons."
However, after a few seconds of contemplating, he knew that there was a low chance that officer Kal Bos would tell him such information. Thus, he could only shake his head and said, "Since I am here... Why don't I try to use some moves I practiced in the virtual orientation. It would be good for me to know which areas I need improvement in real life."
With that in mind, Corvus started his 'spar' with the training dummies whilst waiting for officer Kal Bos. At this moment, Officer Kal Bos had arrived at the PHO Division Head's office.
Inside, a man completely covered by a cloth sat on the luxurious sofa inside the room. Officer Kal Bos entered his office calmly with his eyes focused on the mysterious man.
Then, Officer Kal Bos frowned and simply asked, "What do you need?"
"I'll get straight to the point." The mysterious man said whilst playing a golden coin on his hand, "Give the young man a Nanosystem and a power core."
"Nanosystem??? That's too much!" Officer Kal Bos said, forcing out a smile. Then, he said, "I am going to give him a power core from my monthly quota. But... Nanosystem is something that I cannot promise. This branch could only provide one nanosystem per year. Even if I am the temporary head of this branch, I cannot simply take the nanosystem and give it at my own discretion! I know that you are fully aware of that!"
"Who said that you'd be giving him the yearly reward for the rank one newbie?" The mysterious man chuckled.
"You mean--" Officer Kal Bos frowned, but before he could continue his words the mysterious man interrupted him.
"You have an extra, right?" The mysterious man asked as he stood. Then, he tapped the black gem of his golden ring--summoning a black portal in front of him and said, "An S-tier nanosystem... Won't it be better to give it to someone with potential, rather than let it collect dust in your inventory space."
Officer Kal Bos could not help but flick his tongue in response. He gritted his teeth whilst the vein of his forehead seemed like it was about to pop out. Then, he clenched his fist and asked, "What's that kid to you? Why are you going out of your way... to personally ensure that he would get a nanosystem?"
The mysterious man simply smirked in response as he entered the portal. Then, he said, "You'll know in time..."
The black portal disappeared in the next second, leaving Officer Kal Bos whose hands started to turn into magma--occasionally emitting a weak smoke. Then, he stared daggers to where the black portal was last located and he grumbled, "You better be right, old friend... I won't hold back if my treasure get's wasted!"
