Chapter 44 - Fear vs Desire: Inferna & Fubuki

"Agh my head. Where is-"

Inferna dropped to her knees, blood falling from a gash on her head. It filled her vision, dying the corpses in blood as she began to crawl forward.

"Mina? Melody? Everyone... what happened?!"

She turned, her ears perking up as she heard the sound of a blade. As she spun, she fell back. Her tears began to fill her eyes as she saw the blade continue to pierce Mina's body.

"MINA!"

She turned slightly, her silver eyes glistening as the blade flashed across her throat. Rolling down the steep cliff, Inferna reached out and clutched her severed head.

Flames began to erupt, dangerous blazes consuming Inferna as she wailed. Unknown to her, men were heading her way as she began to claw her way out of the flames.

"You'll all DIE!"

Inferna had blood spilling from her eyes, flames charming away her clothes as her fur covered certain parts of her body. Her eyes had become crimson, her teeth protruding sharply as she lunged. Men fell to every swing of her claws and chomp of her fangs.

Before long, Inferna stood among countless corpses. She blinked, her eyes focusing on Mina. She was staring at her with disgust and disdain in her eyes.

"I expected better from you. Inferna... I trusted in the control you showed me!"

Inferna felt the tears burst forth, she ran towards Mina and held her tight.

"I thought, I thought you were gone!"

"Forget me. You're gone."

A sharp blade of Black Steel erupted from Mina. Inferna stumbled back as the shard impaled her body. She looked up, her eyes staring into the bloody redness that was Mina.

"Mina?"

"Don't. You've done enough."

Inferna felt coldness grip her heart as she watched the blood fall down Mina's body, gashes tearing her open as she collapsed.

-

"Hmph. This form is annoying! Mina, you think I can change back?"

"Fubuki, why does it matter? You're just a mutt that I picked up on the way. I should've just left you with your father."

"Huh?"

Fubuki jumped to her feet, bewildered. She reached for Mina, but only felt the sting of a slap.

"You mean nothing to me, so just go home. Maybe I'll find a prettier dog to tame."

Mina walked away, Fubuki unable to comprehend what was happening. In the end, she just began to laugh as she followed behind Mina.

"Hey, wait up! You can't be serious, you even told me that I was pretty!"

Mina turned around, she stared and laughed softly.

"You? Pretty? Those words shouldn't be used together. It's called a lie, if you haven't heard of it before."

"What? You're not Mina. There's no way! She doesn't hurt her friends!"

Mina smirked, drawing close to Fubuki. She placed her neck incredibly close to her mouth and nose.

"Smell that? I'm Mina, stupid bitch. Just go back home and breed. It's all you're good for."

Fubuki blanked, her mind whirling until she saw a terrified Mina running towards her. She was heavily injured, missing an arm with gashes across her body.

"Mina?! What happened!?"

Mina collapsed in Fubuki's arms, barely breathing as she looked up at her. The eyes she wanted to see were not there, replaced by fear and hatred.

"You... betrayed us!"

In her arms, she felt Mina's breathing slow as a large muzzle invaded her view. When it moved, Mina's head was missing.

"You did well, daughter. I expected your return someday, but for you to bring us back to kill off who you called your friends? You'll make an even better leader than me!"

Fubuki placed her hand on Mina's chest, a soft smile spreading on her face.

"You know... if this were real if have already killed you, father. For now, I'll just tell Mina how I feel... utterly thankful! I'm glad you took me from that life-"

Her voice cut off as Mina stood behind her, an arrow zipping passed. She swung around, her eyes wild with fury... but she was too late. The arrow pierced Mina's chest, her body slumping to the ground once more. Fubuki screamed in agony as she reached out for her.

-

"Inferna? Hey are you crying baby?"

Inferna looked up, the words she heard making her head spin. When she opened her eyes, she was in a bed beside Mina. Both were fully undressed, Mina leaning close to Inferna.

"Wh-what?! Mina?! Why are we- what are we?!"

Steam was visibly bursting from Inferna's ears as she ogled Mina. Her face was beet red, unable to look away.

"What? You dummy. This was mutual. Hey, watch the tail! I don't wanna pull it again. You may have moaned in a really cute way, but I don't wanna hurt you!"

Mina was a little red, but she leaned her head against Inferna's shoulder and hugged her tightly. She looked up at her, almost expectantly.

"Mina... just what kind of magic am I experiencing? Why do you look so mesmerizing and beautiful?"

Inferna couldn't stop herself as she put herself on equal level with Mina. She stared into her eyes as their legs intertwined. Her tail slid over, running up Mina's thigh.

"That tickles Kitty! Don't tease me anymore... give me what I want."

Mina was bright red as Inferna finally placed her nose against Mina's. She tilted her chin forward, their lips pressing together softly.

'This dream... my heart is losing it!'

Inferna backed away, her smile betraying every last thought she could muster.

"You've stolen my heart, Mina."

-

"Hey! Fubuki? Hello? Wake up you brat!"

Fubuki opened her eyes, stretching as she rolled over. When she looked up, she realized her head was resting on something soft.

"Ah. So you're awake. You wanna tell me what you dreamt of? You cried..."

Her eyes were barely apart from Mina's, the worried look on her face waking Fubuki. She wiped the tears in her eyes and reached up. Her fingers touched Mina's face slowly.

"I failed... I dreamt that I failed. My heart was crushed."

"Oh. That sounds really rough... do you wanna talk about it some more, I can grab you something to drink."

Fubuki shook her head and rolled herself over to face Mina's waist. She hugged her tight before sitting up beside her.

"So what did you fail?"

Fubuki stared at the ceiling, feeling Mina lean against her.

"You. I let you die when I could have taken the arrow."

"Arrow? Yeah... ouch. I know you'd protect me. You're very reliable and strong!"

Fubuki reached to her side, holding her fluffy tail down as it wagged happily. She released it a moment later, feeling Mina's lips on her cheek.

"I'll always believe in you. You're my tanky wolf! Hehe."

Mina's giggles made Fubuki release a soft sigh as she smiled.

'I truly am thankful that you exist Mina.'
