Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 – What a Coincidence

After School, without waiting for anyone else, Tristan made his way towards the back of the Gym.

The teacher that was supposed to supervise them was already there lying in wait for them.

Seeing that he was the first one, and quite possibly the only one, he just put on the gardening gloves and started his works.

But soon after a few minutes, Kaoru arrived on the scene, after looking around for a bit.

"Where's the teacher?" She asked

"Faculty room. Said he had to do something, we'll just report after we're done... I thought you had a club?"

"I skipped for today, thanks to you"

"...I see"

Kaoru also got to work and started pulling out the weeds that was growing on the ground.

The two worked on with the silence, the hustle and bustle of the students in clubs after class seemed like a lie in the distance.

About half an hour later, Kaoru was the first to break their silence.

"Those two, didn't come..."

"I already knew they'd pull off a disappearing act"

"Such good friends... Why didn't you do it too?"

After thinking for a while, Tristan answered "I've got nothing better to do anyway"

"Don't you have a lot of homework? You've been out for days, right?"

"Sure... But I'll manage if I pull off an all-nighter"

"Then you'll just sleep the next day"

"Possibly"

Kaoru sighed, his answer was like the most obvious thing in the world, and yet he shouldn't even do sleep in the class.

About two hours passed, both of them were finally finished, As Tristan went home to his apartment. Standing on the foyer, He suddenly got a call from Charles.

"Yes, it's Tristan..."

[Tristan, where are you right now?]

"I just got home by now, is there a problem?"

[Yes, sorry but could you come to the office right now?]

"Ah, sure, I'll be there in 20"

[Thanks and sorry]

"It's job right, there's no need for the chief to feel sorry, I'll get ready to go now"

After ending the call, he went inside to his room, setting down his bag then he changed his clothes to something more flexible, with his usual blue jacket under it were the holsters for his submachine guns, and his goggles hanging on his neck like a necklace.

Once he was ready, he opened the door on and locked it up.

"Ah!"

Tristan heard a surprised voice, when he turned to the owner, he saw the silver haired transferee, Luna standing on the door next to his room, she wore a simple t-shirt, and a track pants, her hair was tied to a ponytail, no matter how you look at her, it was how she dress at home.

"....."

"No way... You moved in next door..." Luna said while putting her hand over her mouth.

"Yeah... I didn't know you live here"

"What coincidence... Hmm..." Luna noticed that Tristan's attire "are you going somewhere?"

"I got a call from my job... you?"

"I was going to run at the convenience store, I ran out of lead"

"I see..." having no more intention to talk, or rather he was already running late, Tristan turned around and walked towards the elevator.

Noticing that he was leaving, Luna quickly tried to catch up. "Wait! Let's walk together halfway!"

It was surely a surprise, or maybe a miracle that Tristan had moved in next door

Luna always had a fascination towards the Helheim City, so she would always goes on reading some articles about the city, watch some clips that's mainly about Helheim City.

And one day, she just noticed that the boy currently beside her had always been involve in some major incidents at Helheim City, although the person himself denied it, she still believes in her gut that the boy is the key to find an explanation about her inexplicable power she posses.

The couple walked in silence as they watch the moon in the distance, the residential area of the West District was unbelievably quiet at night, it was hard to believe that it was part of the Helheim City. Perhaps it was a reason why most decent residents of Helheim City are living in the West District.

A few minutes of walk, and they had finally arrived at the convenience store. Both of them came to a stop, Luna pointed at the convenient store shyly, "This is my stop..."

"Yeah"

"Take care..."

"Yeah..."

"I'll see you at school, then..."

"Yeah, see you" After Tristan parted, Luna watched his back as it grew distant from her.

"Go save the world..." Luna cheered under her breath and headed inside the Store.

Tristan opened up the door, what awaited for him was the usual group of people who hang out in the office.

Surrounding the conference table was Charles, Justin, Ralph, Mio, and Ryan. And lastly was Tristan.

"Sorry, I'm late" Tristan said as he entered the room.

"No, you're just in time" Charles assured him, after which he turned to Justin "Get us started"

Justin nodded and plopped up a pile of documents on the center of the table.

Each of the people took out one of the copies and red through it, Justin clicked the button on the conference table, slowly a white screen rolled down on the wall, and projected a mugshot of a middle aged man with a fierce glare.

"Our target, Victor Bateroux, A weapons merchant and mercenary" Justin explained "We got a word from the HCPD that this person, is in Helheim City"

Mio continued what Justin was saying by stepping forward "from what the intelligence bureau gathered, there are certain locations that the police stores high end weapons, and other high value targets around the South District."

Having said that, the young man with a black hair with a panther-like eyes, Ryan Creed, raised a question as he set down the document. "If he would attack one of those, do we have any idea where and what time?"

"Based on his M.O." Justin answered "There is a pattern on his targets, one is that he would never attack in broad daylight, second is that he would pick those high value targets that are either dangerously strong weapons or even close to a weapon of mass destruction"

Mio continued by tracing a line map, on the tablet that was connected to the projection. "These will be his most likely targets. The ones in southwest of the South District"

Tristan looked over the map, and noticed that it was really close to his apartment building.

"For the teams, I want Ryan and Ralph to patrol the area undercover" Justin continued on by assigning the teams "Mio will provide back up using her invisibility to patrol the area, Charles and I will be hiding in a building near those targets to facilitate, Tristan, I want you to be our eyes for this mission"

"Eh? Sure, but why me?"

Justin nodded, and Charles was the one to speak "Normally, we would ask Clarissa for this, but we can't get ahold of her."

"Since you're her Student, we'll trust that you can do it" Justin said.

Ralph went and wrapped his arm around Tristan's neck while pushing his cheek "There you have it, so I'm trusting you to guard my back, squirt!"

"Rather than that, shoot that monkey between the eye" Mio spoke up "We'll just regard it as an accident, so no pressure"

"What you say pooch?!" Ralph quickly lashed back with her words "You looking for a fight?!"

"No, I'm just saying that we're better off with you dead, we don't need a dead weight for this operation"

"Hah?! Did you hear that chief!? The She-bitch wanted to vote me off!"

Being more rowdy than usual, Ryan sighed as he said "For goodness sake, can't you have more tact, be more elegant. You're a shame to the Corvus name"

"Hah?! I don't want to hear that from a kitty cat!!"
