I guess things didn't go so well with my dad , after that day i visited him we didn't talk for the next few months which turned to years .
It has been 4 years since I last talked to my dad , but things between me and Damien are very good. I met his family when I flew over for Christmas and his family is very kind and welcoming towards me. I even talked to his dad which scared Damien a little but his dad and I are on good terms of course , but then again I never signed any contract with KKP. It's too risky .
Majority of the time Damien would come to me and spend like 2 weeks in Paris before flying to the states again or when he has a 48 hour layover he would crash at my place and head over in the morning . he made me fall in love with all the efforts he put in trying to woo me and i finally said yes to being his Girlfriend on valentine's day 2020.
From there things got really real and realistic for us , life long planning together , planning vacations, planning who should fly over the typically Long distance relationship thing but we never mentioned marriage or changing locations it's too early for that
But during our 4th year anniversary we weren't able to meet up due to my busy schedule preparing to fly to Europe for a while and him dealing with lawsuits in the States we decided to postpone everything to another day . Just as when I was in the office preparing for a meeting I already wasn't feeling my best in the morning. I felt like puking honestly but I held it in until I received a call from Damien's dad.
Damien's Dad: Stella honey .
Me: Hi Mr Lim , hi what can i do for you
Damien's Dad: Im sorry … honey ( sobs )
Me: uh? What's going on Mr Lim ?
Damien's Dad: Stella , Damien passed away in a car accident on the way to the airport .
Me: No you must be kidding right?
Damien's Dad: no Stella … are you able to come to the states and send him off ?
Me: I'll get on the plane today , i'll be there soon omg … hang in there Mr Lim.
I ended the call in a rush and told everyone to update me on the things they are doing while i'm away , canceled all of my meetings and told my HR to book me a flight to the states ASAP and postpone the flights to Europe for the time being while i rushed home to pack up a few stuff.
I quickly drove home and Pram asked what happened and why I was home so early. Tears were already falling so quickly I blurted everything out to him and he quickly sat me down on the sofa and went to pack my luggage for me and whatever I needed for the funeral for him . He already got the update on the flight for me and drove me to the airport straight away without hesitation. He helped me check in my luggage while I just stood there blankly without words coming out of my mouth ….
Pram said the flight is at 7pm and i should get something to eat but the thing is i can't … I told him how I was feeling and he rushed to the pharmacy and got me a pregnancy kit to test …
10 mins later I came out of the restroom in pure shock with tears streaming down from my face. I showed him the test and it was Positive …. I never expected myself to be pregnant but oh my goodness it's Damien's.
Pram reassured me and told me to come back safely and just tell the Lim's about the child and see what they wanna do about it … I nodded my head and he gave me a hug and from there i took control i walked into the departure hall and there is no turning back now .
19 hours later . . .
I landed in JFK airport and quickly took the cab to Damien's house. I stood outside and blanked out immediately until Damien's cousin spotted me from afar and tapped me on the shoulder and scared the shit of me.
"Stella! What are you doing here? Just standing at the gate, go in and see him ." Ethan said as he shoved his hands in his pocket.
Ethan is Damien's eldest cousin from his fathers side of the family , he was the one that encouraged me to be bold with my choices and if I want to continue to conquer the world . yeah i am kinda close to him as well …
"Uh… I don't know … ( sobs ) ``I stood there and cried in his arms as he pulled me into his arms and stood there and cried , " It's not your fault, come on let's go in . '' He took my luggage and brought me inside the house .
Damien's parents came to me immediately when we stepped through the doors of the house , they embraced me into their arms and told me everything will be okay from now on and Damien's in a better place which didn't make me any better but i still cried so once i calmed down and tea was already served , Ethan came and sat with me with Damien's parents sat in front of me .
"Uhm… There is something I need to tell you guys… ``I said while looking at the floor… At least I got their attention .. i brought out the pregnancy test kit and placed it on the table and looking at Damien's mother reaction she came to hug me immediately and left the dad speechless there as well as Ethan was shocked.
"Oh Honey , Damien would be so happy to find out you are carrying his child " She cried out, having no idea if it was happy tears or sad tears that they just lost their son and I AM PREGNANT.
"I know this is a bad time to bring this up … we all just lost Damien and it's devastating … let's talk about the pregnancy another time alright " i said as i was fiddling with my fingers
Everyone agreed and Ethan brought me to my room on the second floor to the guest room . before i closed the door Ethan reminded me about dinner so i told him to when it's ready so i closed the door and started unpacking … for what seems like hours i have been sitting by the window for so long i didn't even realise it was time for dinner, Ethan tapped my shoulder and made me came back to my senses and told me it was time for dinner and i went down with him , Damien's parents are already seated down so we quickly joined them and started eating together .
After dinner I joined Damien's mother she took me to see Damien's room and showed me his everything i mean i have stayed in Damien's house but i have never seen him grew up as a kid , she showed me embarrassing pictures of him when he was little and how problematic he was at that point of time. We laughed a little and suddenly she handed me a photo of him eating Cotton candy
"Here, I want you to keep this' ' she handed me the photo , my eyes widened and looked at her "I know you have tons of photos of you and Damien together but keep this one with you . '' she said as she held her hands on mine and i started crying and nodded my head
The both of sat there and cried for a while before putting everything into boxes and keeping away some of the stuff and pulled the sheets on everything she told me to keep some stuff from Damien's childhood i agreed and placed it in my room and joined them in the living room to discuss about the funeral arrangements for Damien .
"We decided to have a close casket funeral since Damien's body is badly burnt and doesn't look like him. We will do a close casket , the burial will be placed with grandma cherry . it's going to be a 3 days funeral" said Damien's dad
Everyone agreed and from there everyone went back to their rooms while Ethan came to mine to chat
