Uugh, that doctor chick's foot hurt like hell. I can still feel my rib that moved. Wait, where is Summer? Oh no.
"Summer, can you hear me?"
Heart rate slows and her body turns cold. Pulse is faint but weak.
"Summer! Summer! Oh no! Wake Up. I know you can't hear me but there is no way you're not a half-breed. How do you explain this then? The small dark spot I saw on your chest earlier has grown incredibly large since last time. It's growing steady but will soon take over your body. What kind of disease do you have again because it is unlike anything I've ever seen before. We need to get you inside pronto. Hold on. We're going to disappear for a few and you'll feel a slight dizziness and grogginess but you'll be fine. I got you. Just stay with me and don't die. I can't show up late for a friend. That has happened too much. I've seen too many deaths to count in my life plus two that were the closest to me. Sorry, you ready? Here we go!! We teleport in three....two...one..."
"Summer, are you dead? Oof. Thankfully you're not. Your breath stinks. Anyways welcome to The Lair, the place where all magic happens, takes place, and is and was born from. The Hospital. Frankly I can't stand the smell of disgusting things but this is an abandoned hospital. Has been for a long time so for the most part the real disgusting smells and perfumes are gone. Some still linger but without a sensitive nose it is nonexistence. Sorry if I'm just rambling on. Not like you can hear me or anything but I am half certain you can. The brain and ears never sleep so that is why if someone was in a coma it's best someone be there talking to the person the whole time or else if the person hears nothing then they'll start to lose consciousness of everything and it will be harder to hear anything. Then when they wake up they are able to tell you bits and pieces of what they heard enough to form a paragraph at most if not longer. Also it's great to just have someone to talk to. Oh, that room is where we used to train on dummies and could destroy anything in that room. It was fun. This is my first time since class I've been out on my own. I mean I kind of am but I've got you to talk to. You don't talk back meaning you can't disagree with me I guess that's a plus but it's better then nothing. Shoot, badies up ahead; duck. You're very heavy, you know that. Fatty patty! No, you're beautiful, actually stunning. When this is over I'm going to be so buff and the strongest one in my class. I already am but it would catch the eyes of someone in my class that I have my eyes on.
You see, there is a boy in my class that I love really much and want to ask out but I don't know how. I'm strong in strength but not speech. Maybe once this is all over and we become friends I will take you to meet him. He's amazing but I'm a shy wall hugger in the back and he's the social butterfly and 'popular kid.' Also I don't think he notices me that much. Stay down, I'll be right back. You can't see it right now but I'm beating up bad guys out here but none are nowhere near as pretty as he is. They must've beaten us here and knew where we're going. It's fine. Ugg, You get a bullet and you get a bullet. Everybody gets a bullet. Okay, to pass the class instead of credits and hours you need forty kills. Before I met you I had thirty five. Once we're done here I'll have so many they'll have to make me the professor! Don't worry. You're not on my list. Not many girls are or were to be honest. You're under my protection and as such I promise nothing will happen to you. I pinky promise.
Hoofff. They were intense but no match for... Me! Man, I need to catch my breath. How about you? So while we're in this dire situation may I ask a question? What made you want to go into the medical field. Did your parents motivate you or was it your own decision? For me it was a little bit of both. I can still remember it. Eight years ago March 7th at eleven thirty at night I could hear loud banging on the door and then voices.
"Open this door. We have a warrant for your dad practicing illegal magic. He has two minutes to come with us or we will break down this door and take him by force.
Me and my parents were huddled in their room and dad was frantically knocking things off of shelves and tearing things off of walls in search of something. As the pounding and shouts got louder I started to cry which only made matters worse. Mom did her best to calm me down but she was just as nervous as anyone else in the room.
"Hun, how'd they get here so fast and knew you had it? What are we going to do?
"Sarah, it'll be ok. Take Summer and go quick. I got the book and will hold them off. No sooner had he said that that his two minutes were up and the door crashed to the floor followed by scuffled footsteps.
They were tossing everything over even the pictures on the wall.
"Go," my dad had said, trying to sound brave and forming an invisible unpenetrating field around the room so no one could see us or get in.
The men stopped their search and all was still. Nobody moved. The floorboards creaked and the tick of the antique clock in the living room filled our ears. Seconds ticked by like hours. They were getting close. Dad tiptoed over to the window and tried to raise it. It wouldn't budge.
Dad kept trying with all his might as we heard the men checking all the other rooms and saying, "No, he's not here.
Sweat poured down dad's face and mom and him locked eyes.
It won't budge," he slowly said.
Mom's eyes raced. "You have to try. You have too.
Dad turned back around, wiped the sweat from his eyes, put his whole back into it and pulled up. The window only went up halfway but theta was enough.
Mom and dad smiled but turned to O shapes. In his effort his broad shoulders knocked over the family vase. Time slowed as we all watched it fall. It crashed onto the floor in tiny pieces everywhere and that was the end. The men outside stopped and turned.
We could see them but they couldn't see us. We thought they couldn't get through dad's spell but we were so wrong. If we had moved a second earlier and got out faster I'll never know. Dad was a sorcerer but these men were more experienced and stronger. The men broke through and I wiggled out of moms hands and out the window as fast as I could. Then I took off on a dead run, crying the whole time.
I turned around and in those few moments I wished I hadn't. Through the slits I could see everyone fighting but my parents didn't see the blade hidden behind one of their backs. One of them picked dad up by the neck and stabbed the blade through his heart while the other held firmly onto my mom. Both of their screams echoed in my mind as I turned and kept running. Zion was one of the men. He didn't hold the blade but figuratively he did. He looked out the window and saw me running away. I don't know why he let me live and didn't tell his dad but I'm sure now he wishes he had.
A few years later I returned but the place was now turned into a daycare. I waited till night, found the room, dug up the floor and found the blade. It was still stained in blood that had now dried. It was as if Zion saw me, found a reason why someone would want to kill his evil dad and wanted me to one day find him. I carry the blade now with me wherever I go so that when that one day comes they'll taste the same blade that took everything from me. So, I'll take everything from them. I'll kill their whole entire family with this blade if I must. Shoot, that's going to have to wait because there are more of them arriving. Quick, in here.
Guess we're hunkering down here for the night until they leave. Don't worry I sealed the door so there is no way anybody can get in. Just hang in there. I bid thee goodnight."
