Chapter 5 - Chapter Two // Part Two

I roll my eyes, "Well I would appreciate you telling me at least who your parents are, ya know, since I told you who mine are."

It was silent for a couple of minutes, "I will tell you, but right now I want to know more about you."

"What if I don't want to tell you anymore about me?" I say, a tad offended that he wouldn't tell me what his past was.

He didn't say anything. He just looked out the windshield. Now I'm annoyed. I don't see why my father told me to trust him, or to figure out his past. He was making it very hard at this point. I couldn't fathom why someone would keep their parents a secret after I told them about mine. Perhaps he was intimidated. I try to think of someone who could be worse than Ares and quite a few names came up in my head, but from what I've heard all their children had led evil paths. Damon seemed like a good person. He fought the monsters instead of taking their side in the fight to try and destroy me. "Why won't you tell me?" I ask him, finally calmed down enough to ask.

I thought he was ignoring me and I wasn't going to ask again but then he spoke up, his voice low, "My mother is Ananke. It's bad enough that she's my mother. But my father is a completely different story."

I think for a moment. If I'm remembering my history correctly, Ananke is the goddess of inevitability. As far as I was aware, there weren't many of her children out in the world. I could only think of who his father was. At this point, I was beyond curious, and to be honest a little worried. "So, who is your dad? Can't be that bad, right?" I ask, with a nervous chuckle.

He looks at me, his eyes filled with doubt. "My father is Kronos. Titan of time."

It's silent for a couple of moments before I speak up, "And here you were calling me powerful."

He chuckles, "I don't want you to think anything different of me. I'm training to be a hero, not a bad guy like the rest of my so-called siblings."

I wanted to tell him what the fates told me long ago, but I decided against it. I didn't quite trust the boy yet. I didn't know if I was going to his parents play a role in how much I trust him or not.

So far, he hasn't done anything that has made me distrust him. "That's enough family talk for the day, I'm more interested in finding a place to sleep.

We drove for another three hours, only stopping to get gas and go to the bathroom. We were on a long stretch of highway with nothing but hills to look at when Damon finally spoke up, "There."

He pointed to a stretch of woods with a barn large enough to fit the gods, towering over the trees. "What makes you think that's a safe place to stay for the night?" I ask.

"Don't you see it?" he looked at me like I'm stupid, "Theres a thin veil of magic around the barn. It's a safe house for the children of the gods."

I think for a minute, grateful to have this boy here, as I would have passed it up to sleep in another parking lot. Then something hits me, "I hate to bring this up, but will you be able to even enter the barn? With Kronos as your father?"

If looks could kill, I'd be six feet under. "Yes, as you should know, one of my parents is a goddess. That's like asking if you'd be able to enter the barn with your mother being a dryad."

"Sorry, I could've done without the attitude. I've just never been to one of these barn/ protective house things." I say, with a little attitude myself.

"Just don't ask stupid questions anymore," he says, "turn right here."

I turn onto a dirt road and we're quickly covered up by trees. When I look behind me, you can no longer see the main road. It's like the trees were covering our tracks to try and hide us from the monsters. However, even though the magic was hiding us, I could feel the sense of impending doom and I couldn't shake the feeling that we were being watched. I continued to turn my head like a crazy loon, just trying to make sure that we weren't being followed.

It takes a couple more minutes before finally reaching the barn. Pulling up the barn we see two people sitting out front. I was just about to turn the car around when I recognized one of the people, or should I say god. I quickly put my car in park and marched out, slamming the door for an extra effect. I could feel my level of anger slowly rising, however I knew this was just a side effect of his godly powers. "What are you doing here father?"

Before he could answer I hear Damon walk up behind me. I look at him to see his hands in his pocket and his expression, annoyed. "Mother," he says.
