Chapter 3 - Chapter One // Part Two

2020

It was the night that we first met, we finally found somewhere to sleep and we slept in the blissful quiet. It was almost too quiet though. I was always on edge, I didn't know how to relax. Even when I slept, it felt that I wasn't truly sleeping or resting. This time, however, when I closed my eyes I could no longer hear the sounds of the living world. I was thrusted into a dream. A dream of my father. I had heard of things like this. The children of the gods receive messages through dreams, like a podcast of sorts. I tried to focus on what he was saying, "You're doing great fighting your fate Amethyst. I'm truly proud of the young lady that you've become. But this is only the beginning, you're going to come up against a lot stronger monsters than that Hell Hound. I suggest you keep Damon around for a little while longer. He could be a great help to you. I know you don't trust men, and I'm at fault for that, but trust me on this one and trust Damon with helping you on your quest my dear. Ask him to tell you his story, as it will play a critical role in your journey. Godspeed, my daughter. Now you must wake up."

With that my vision goes dark and I shoot up in my seat yelling, "Wake up."

Damon shot up in his seat before turning to me and saying, "Gorgons."

Our eyes went wide. We still hadn't recovered from our earlier attack. I grab my sword out of the thin, magical pocket of air that I keep it in. Damon grabs his rapier from the back seat. We give each other a look of tiredness before opening the doors and bursting out into the parking lot looking for the gorgons.

We looked around the dark parking lot but even with the overhead lights we saw nothing. We made our way to get back in the car when we heard a raspy voice, "Leaving so soon? We haven't even gotten to play with you yet."

I look up to see that on the top of my car were two gorgons. The only one to seem to be missing was Medusa. I quickly looked around for her. Being surprised by the great demon herself was something that you should try to avoid. I finally turn to the other two demons, Stheno and Euryale, and ask, "Where's your leader?"

They didn't reply. They only snickered. That's when I knew it was a trap. At that moment of time it's also when I decided to give Damon a chance at earning my trust. As soon as I heard the slithering of the snakes in Medusa's hair behind me, I also heard a slice sound. Then the sound of something hitting the ground next to my feet, followed by a sort of liquid making its way into my socks. I go to look down at the fallen gorgon body when Damon stopped me, "Don't look, she can still turn to stone. We can keep her head as a trophy or we can let the local police know and let them decide what to do with it. However, in the meantime, what should we do about these other two?"

For the first time in the whole ordeal I looked at Damon. His face was hard set, and he was glaring at the other two demons on the top of my car. "Well, personally, I'd like them to come down here and stop getting nasty gorgon slime all over the top of my car," I say sarcastically.

"I don't see why that would be a problem, we should get started on that," Damon said, looking at me with a wicked grin on his face.

We coaxed the demons to come down onto solid ground to fight us, call me selfish but I didn't want anymore dents on my car. Once they touched the asphalt, Damon tried to keep them distracted so I could get behind them and cut off their heads as well. That plan didn't go accordingly. I did manage to sneak up behind them, but right as I was about to put my sword in position, Stheno turned around.

Technically, we couldn't kill them the way we had killed Medusa. These two were immortal. We could hurt them though, and we could hurt them in a substantial amount. Stheno, unfortunately for me, was known for her strength. I quickly brought up my sword and started fighting her, her daggers flying through the air at an incredible speed. I had to be on guard and my focus could only be on her to avoid becoming a meal for these terrible creatures.

The fight quickly turned into a one versus one fight. With myself fighting Stheno, and Damon fighting Euryale. I started to feel tired and I noticed that Damon was starting to wear down as well, meanwhile the demons looked like they just drank seven Red Bulls a peice. When I was just about ready to crash, I suddenly felt a surge of energy. It was almost like an adrenaline high but for battling. I fought Stheno for a couple more minutes before finally disarming her. She tried to protest but only got out a couple of words before I sliced her head off. It would be a couple of hours at least until she was able to regenerate. I look at Damon and Euryale, my heart pounded when I saw Damon laid on the ground; the demon on top of him. She was just about to stab him through the heart when I sliced the demon in two.

I was wiping the gorgons insides off of my sword while Damon tried to get up. Once he got Euryale off of him, we noticed just how much nastiness was on him. "You're not getting in my car like that." I state, before throwing my trunk open.

"What do you mean, I'm not getting in your car like this?" he questions, "How else am I supposed to get in the car?"

I walked to the passenger side of my car and laid several old towels on the seat and floor board. My car may be old, but it's all I had. "You can wear a pair of my shorts and shirts until we get somewhere, that I feel is safe enough to go shopping in."

I walked back to the trunk and looked through my bag until I found what I was looking for. An outfit for each of us. "This isn't going to fit me," he says, sounding exhausted.

"It'll do until you get more clothes, now go around the front so I can change without your wandering eyes," I say, with a dirty look for effect.

He walks around the front of the car and starts taking off his clothes. When I'm finished changing I look through the glass window of the car to see him glaring at the shorts. He already had the shirt on and it fit him like a second skin and it only went down to the top of his belly button. I wanted to laugh out, but then he wouldn't put the shorts on. I waited for him to put the shorts on before bringing him a plastic bag to put the gorgon gut clothes in. After putting the clothes in the trunk, I quickly grabbed Damon a blanket before slamming the door shut.

The shorts fit him almost as well as the shirt fit. In other words, it didn't leave much to the imagination. He protested when I tried to give him the blanket but then he realized, my face was bright red. He looked down, and started to stammer, "I s-swear they w-weren't this tight when I was standing up."

He took the blanket in a hurry and covered himself appropriately. Once everything was in order again, we decided that the little amount of sleep that we had gotten would have to be enough for awhile.

I quickly started my car and drove out of the parking lot, running over each of the gorgons heads before finally making my way out. I also drove over Medusa's head, because even though it would've been a great help to our journey, I felt that it would also bring us more dangerous situations.
