Chapter 9 - Chapter IX: The First Mission

Kara and Furleigh walked through the streets of the town, she was very happy and he walked reluctantly.

"I'm glad you decided to stay with me and don't go with that fairy," the girl said, standing up suddenly.

"I didn't have a choice, you almost started crying."

"I wasn't going to cry!" She said, embarrassed.

"It was what it seemed to me, by the way. Why are you so happy?"

"Just getting my best friend to stay with me isn't enough?"

Furleigh took her seriously and then went home, the next morning Praxis had them call the longhouse.

"Do you know why I called you?" Praxis asked sitting in a large chair.

Kara waited anxiously for what the Dragonslayer chief would say to them, while Furleigh hoped he didn't ask them to go slaying dragons.

"Yesterday we lost three recruits and two officers to the fairies the government sent us, so Furleigh and Farah are going to talk to the leader about what happened."

"What!?" Kara and Furleigh exclaimed at the same time but for different reasons.

"Why are you excluding me from this mission?" Asked the girl indignantly.

"Furleigh will question the leader while Farah distracts him with her feminine charms, I'm sure with her in front of him he will make more mistakes."

"So why can't I go instead of Farah?"

"Because you have no feminine charms, being with you is like staying with a complaining rock."

"Of course I have feminine charms, right?"

"Well ..." Farah and Furleigh tried not to answer, but this only negated her question.

"Ehm, you have very beautiful hair?" Said Furleigh trying to make the girl feel better.

"Nonsense, a real woman should wear it long," Sigurd added.

"My hair is long, what happens is that I wear it up."

"If it is not loose or tied in a ponytail, it loses its charm."

"Do you believe that too?" She asked, approaching Furleigh.

"I ... Ehm, you'll see," he muttered nervously, "I think you're perfect in your own way."

"If you don't need me at all, why did you call me?" She asked trying to avoid continuing with the topic.

"Now that Sven is gone we've run out of hunters, you and Sigurd will go to the forest and bring food from today."

"Why do I have to go too!?" She complained irritably.

"Because currently we can't go hunting dragons, so you're useless," the old man explained without cutting himself. "By the way, when I said you were going to hunt, I meant that you were already," He ordered with a harsh tone pointing to the door.

Sigurd and Kara sped off so as not to upset Praxis while he, Farah, and Furleigh were left arguing about their mission.

"Just one thing. Why me? I think sending Farah would be enough."

"What a keen sense of humor you have, Farah is an empty head, she's looking at me seriously and she still hasn't found out that I have insulted her," he said, pointing to the girl.

"Why do not you go?"

"Because you are better speaking than me. Have you not convinced everyone that you have killed the marble dragon?"

"...Did you know?"

"Sven told me what happened, a marble dragon doesn't fly out of his cave and explode, he lies on top of the treasure and bursts it whole."

"You must be very good with magic. Has Deltmard taught you?"

"Deltmard?" He asked confused.

"You don't come from the Knights of the Sun?"

"Um ... Yes, but we didn't met at any time."
