Chapter 15 - Chapter XV: Africa, The Government Envoy

Kara took Furleigh to the longhouse, the girl was there until she could rent or buy a house in the village, Praxis was talking to her convinced that the girl was the love of her life and making her uncomfortable at the same time.

"Africa I want to introduce you to my best friend," Kara said, approaching the girl with a fake smile.

"Great, another boy," she said annoyed.

"Leave my love alone," Praxis said angrily for stopping his conversation with the girl.

"Praxis, can you leave us alone?" The girl asked.

The boss left and the girl led the two of them to her room.

"What do you want?"

"Nothing, I just wanted you to meet our partner, after all you are also a recruit like us," Kara replied, pressuring Furleigh to talk to her.

"I'm Furleigh. When did you arrive?" The boy asked, having never seen her.

"Three hours ago, Maximo sent me to des ... to help you in your work as a new recruit for the Dragonslayers," the girl replied, making Furleigh feel a chill run down her spine.

"Well we have to go," Kara said, dragging Furleigh with her. "Well?" She asked as she got far enough from the girl.

"Nothing, she's not a witch," the boy replied.

"No one has been attracted to her when talking to her for the first time, they have taken about an hour," the girl explained.

Furleigh and Kara went to the boy's house to wait an hour to see what happened after talking to the girl, however nothing happened forcing Kara to admit that her boyfriend was not bewitched by the girl.

"Kara is already getting dark, go home, people would be suspicious when they see that you're at my house so late."

"I don't care what they say, right now my relationship with Sigurd is hanging by a thread, if tomorrow he doesn't apologize and tells me that it was just a joke, ours will be over."

"It's very easy for them to tell you that they love another."

"He also told me that he loved me, I'm sure she's just undecided. Well in case we cut, you will be very happy, right?"

"I already told you that I don't like you," the boy said annoyed.

"Are you sure? What would you say if I told you to take me over this ledge?" The girl said sitting down next to Furleigh.

"What I would do and what I feel are different things," he answered, getting up and walking away from the girl.

"I'll have to believe you because of our friendship, I'm going home. Farah will feel lonely," the girl said as she walked out the door.

Furleigh went to sleep, at night Africa entered the boy's room by the window and sat on the ledge watching him sleep.

"I can't take it anymore," the girl thought, approaching Furleigh to pat his head.

"What are you doing?" The boy asked, grabbing her hand to stop her.

"Um, I ... Um ... Isn't this what it seems like?" The girl answered nervously and trying to get Furleigh to release her hand.
