Chapter 8 - Chapter VIII: True Intentions

"Why don't you tell me your name?" The fairy asked Furleigh as the young man gazed out the window at the sunset.

"Just leave me alone," the boy replied.

"We should be friends, we are both fantastic creatures."

"The fairies are disgusting, few humans understand what you say, if they knew that you spend the day saying obscenities, harassing and being degenerate, they would not hold you in such high esteem."

"I think you are envious that my wealth is greater than yours."

"Do you think I care? If you are so happy with your wealth, you can go home to enjoy it."

"I am not like my companions, I promised to help the Dragonslayers to exterminate every last of the dragons."

"Your companions? What do you mean?"

"No-Nothing is a way of speaking," she said nervously.

Furleigh grabbed the fairy and began to squeeze her.

"Okay! I'll talk! Please stop, it hurts!"

"What did you mean?" Said freeing the fairy.

"The fact is that the five fairies that accompanied me did it to offer a man to share her wealth, to be her lover and the mother of her children, and they will take those who accept to the forest and never return."

"Good thing, I thought it was something serious, I go back to my cave."

"Don't you care about your companions?"

"They are not my companions, I do not want to be a Dragonslayer, besides this is a great opportunity to leave, they will think that I have accepted that pact." He clarified, gathering his things and putting them in a backpack.

Furleigh entered the forest followed by the fairy, then was stopped by Kara.

"Shit, I didn't take this girl into account." though the boy when saw Kara. "What do you want?"

"Where are you going? Are you leaving us like the rest?"

"The rest? Who's gone?"

"Sven, Olaf, Harold, Banner, Ulf and now you."

"Expert hunters too? Great less trouble!" the boy thought. "Yes, now get out of my way."

"No! You can't go with that fairy, she's just using you."

"What does this girl say?" The fairy asked Furleigh.

"She tends to misunderstand everything," Furleigh whispered.

"What is that monster telling you!?" She asked altered.

"She asked me why you care so much that I go, if we've only known each other for three days."

"That's ... That's because we're partners, we both want to eradicate dragons, that's why we joined the Dragonslayers."

"I don't want to kill dragons, in fact I lied, the marble dragon was gone when I got to the cave, I'm too cowardly to face a dragon or strong enough to fight anything, if I fought a dragon I would surely die."

"I don't care! I don't care!" You are my ... You are my best friend, when Praxis was going to kick us out, you got him not to do it, when I didn't want to be alone in the beginner's school you went to keep me company, I don't care that you're weak, I'll be strong for both of us , I do not care if you are a coward, I will face the enemy for both of us, if a dragon endangers you I will protect you with my life if necessary, because that is what friends do, that is why we must stay together, without you I would be alone.

"That's not true, you have Farah."

"Farah is not like you! I mean, Farah is a good friend, but she's always praising me and impressing for anything silly."

"Are you going to go and leave her like this?" Asked the fairy, moved by the girl's words.

"Do I have a choice?" Furleigh replied.
