Zhu Ling who had finally arrived at the stadium and was now seated in place, had her stomach grumbling at this point, screaming out that it was hungry.
She looked down at her belly and raised an eyebrow at it and as if it could understand what she intended, the grumbling noise stopped abruptly.
Because of the problem at the diner a while ago, she had not eaten anything except for some snacks she bought on the way to the stadium which did not in any way satisfy her hunger.
Bringing her eyes back up when she realised the annoying sound was gone, she then took a look at the inside of the stadium.
The stadium was indeed quite large and had a very accommodating place for individuals to duel each other. Even if they would add a couple of their tamed beasts, the area would still have space to spare for the examinees to spar with each other.
Not that tamed beasts have been allowed at this point of the exam yet though.
At the center of the big plot of land, there was a large square stage that was colored red and was outlined with a deep black color, which obviously would be the place where the examinees had to battle each other.
Placed at the very top box, one that were solely for those of high rankings, Zhu Ling looked around her and at the people below her and squinted her eyes.
It was not that there was something appalling to be seen or that there was someone she disliked present, but its just that the people down there were too small.
Even the huge red box right now to her looked like a lunch box and she was just speechless.
What did the one who sat here even came for? Barely even being able to see any sort of action at this height, did they come here because they wanted attention? Nobody could even see each other at this point!
"Stupid" she sighed to herself as she began to think about their distance to the scene.
This was probably the most useless point she had encountered.
Ah, Silverdew Academy never failed to amuse her with their pointless antics.
Zhu Ling got up from her seat and decided to make her way to the lower stands. At least over there, she could have some amusement to bid her time since she would be able to see the stage clearly.
As she walked towards the lower stands, there were again many chatters and talks about the exam as they tried to reason out who they guessed would pass and fail, as they had already placed their bets previously.
The list of names of those who enrolled themselves was never made private in the first place. There had always been quite a handful of people who wanted to let themselves in, so the academy took pride in this and placed those who signed themselves up onto an official list, which later on was properly spread.
When those who placed their bets looked over the list of names, they placed their calls on those who they knew were strong and left out those 'inferior' ones.
This move intrigued Zhu Ling highly.
How were they so sure that those who were popular were the strongest one out of the bunch?
She shook her head she removed those trivial thoughts away from her mind.
It was their money they wasted, why should she even try to bother herself with that.
When she finally made her place to the entrance of the lower stands, she stood in place and began to look around for where she would sit.
Her eyes glazed at the crowd and landed on a particular pair as a small smirk appeared on her face.
Although quite surprised at first, she headed over to their side and sat in front of them discreetly.
As soon as she did so, she immediately heard their conversation.
"Im nervous, are you nervous? You can't possibly not be nervous, right?" An obviously anxious voice rang out.
"Quit it, you're annoying." The girl who seemed like she had enough of the ramblings of the man beside her mentioned.
"Little flower this is not how you are supposed to console me!" The man stood up and stomped his foot on the ground as if he were a kid throwing a tantrum. "You have to tell me you feel nervous too! Even if you don't, just lie to me! Appease my trembling heart!" He then placed his hands to his chest and made himself look like an abandoned pet.
Zhu Ling wanted to scoff at his actions but she held it in.
She had to be a small, insignificant spectator at this moment.
She was not wrong though, these two were really interesting.
"You! Mao Huan! Sit back down, why are you acting like a kid? How old are you?!" Tao Xiulan grabbed onto Mao Huan's arm and pulled him back down like her life depended on it.
Mao Huan took in a deep breath and sat back down reluctantly as he fiddled with his hands.
"I mean, Weimin is depending on us. This big of a responsibility is too much for my poor heart to handle" He said as he turned towards Tao Xiulan and kept his hands on his chest, signifying his downright skittish feeling.
"You didn't seem to think that when we went to Lei Forest, what is so different now?" Tao Xiulan raised her brows at him and asked curiously.
Once Zhu Ling heard this, she smiled to herself and did a small nod.
"This can't be compared to that." Mao Huan began to talk as he positioned himself to sit righteously.
"I fooled you completely then because of my sheer and unparalleled brilliance, so we had the easier path. Although I pity you for falling for my scheme, the situation here is completely different!" He nodded as he threw daggers to Tao Xiulan with each word he let out, as if what he said was unmistakably correct.
"This…" Tao Xiulan gritted her teeth in anger as she wanted to blast this person in front of her who had no understanding of shame.
But she got a hold of herself and shakily took in a deep breath.
Zhu Ling at this point was still holding in her amused smile.
Yes, she did not like useless chatter and too much noise, but these people caught her attention ever since she last saw them.
A small group who snuck in, not even afraid of confronting the watchers who were patrolling that day. It made her curious if they were after what she thought they were.
If they were..things definitely won't be so simple.
