Chapter 18 - Chapter 17: How To Lie To The Queen And Still Impress Her

Elizabella sighed as she wondered what she should do with her skit. No one showed up for the auditions and now with her engagement being announced soon, she knew she could not recruit just anybody for her skit.

While she was thinking, Walliams was playing with his baby brother when he looked up at her to see her sigh for the nth time. He worried about what she had told the Queen earlier that afternoon and wondered if she may have said too much.

"My Lady, are you certain that it was wise to tell the Queen all that you told her today? Was it not a fact that you being here, in this kingdom, is a secret from all the nobles back home? What if she reaches out to Granny Queen? Would there be a conflict of interest?"

Elizabella looked up at Walliams and saw the worry on his face. She took off her fake glasses to look at him properly.

"I did not tell her the full truth on anything. Our family is not the only one that owns mines, granted we own the more abundant mines, but I did not say that. Seeing how I said that families like to keep their businesses within their blood lines, which family of high nobles does not recruit their distant relatives to learn their family trade? Even father had a few distant nephews working directly under him.

"It would be hard for them to find anything with just that. The fact that you were given to me for my birthday is no lie and I can not hide you if I bring you to the Palace after marriage. How many upstanding young children has the old Queen not given out so that they can be under the nobles care with the guise as servants? Most grow up to be well off from orphaned or poor homes. Each treated just like another member of their household.

"Remember that the laws exist to guarantee the livelihood of the common people. As a noble, it is our job to make sure that the livelihood of the common people are not threatened too much. We must help out were we can. So, me stating that you were given to me as a present is socially acceptable within the noble circles. Exposing you now, so that you can follow me in the future."

Elizabella paused for a moment while having a faraway look on her face, before she continued.

"If you want people to believe your lies, you must always remember to mix in some truth. I have learned that the hard way..." sighed Elizabella as Walliams looked down with a sad look in his eyes, while his baby brother laid obediently in his arms. "Telling the Queen that I was not at liberty to tell her more about my family, simply means that my family does not like others prying into their business. Most high nobles have many secrets that they do not want to be found out. Even with that forged birth certificate, no one will ever notice since I had the old Queen make it for me before leaving to here. I simply was just very vague with my answers; however, it should be enough to let go of any and all fears and have me marry into their family."

Walliams frowned at that, then looked away while mumbling to himself, "Since when did you get close enough to want to marry this Prince? Did you not say that you would never marry into the Royals since your family died and since those two pricks nearly forced you?"

**********

Later that evening, the Royal family had issued a statement publicly on the news and all forms of social media. The citizens were shocked to hear that the Crown Prince was getting married! Suddenly, there was an increase in questions over who his Princess to be was. The news outlets and social medias constantly kept updating their news feed over anything they could get their hands on for information over the future Princess.

The Royal Palace of Glear, as it as called on it's official homepage, gave some detailed information over the future Princess. Her name is Lady Aphra Ginny Harkins from the Baron(ess) Harkins household who goes to the Royal Academy with a full-ride scholarship in the Arts Department. Underneath this information was a picture that they had uploaded from the ones that had been given to The Palace for inspection earlier on, the one that was at least a year old in black and white.

When this news hit, the netizens went crazy.

"Huh? This news is too sudden! What happened?"

"Who is that!?!?! A child from a Baroness household!?!?"

"What, at least she is of some noble standing. We commoners could never hope to even socialize with the Prince in our lifetime."

"True, but aren't there better quality nobles available!?!? I mean, I have never even heard of this household before."

"My old man says he remembers this name because back when the late King was alive, he titled a common man who was claimed to be his best friend."

"Hmph! So this family is so underhanded that they have been quietly climbing up the social ladder since generations past! I can't stand people like that!"

"Yeah, I agree with the commenter above me! I cant stand people like that either! She ain't even cute!"

"I kind of think she is cute. At least that picture they are showing looks cute."

"It looks professionally done. Like, the ones you go to to make sure that they make you look good! I call fakes on this picture!! Show us more!!"

"They should definitely show us more or at least some where they show the couple interacting with each other. After all, this is too sudden! I didn't even know the Crown Prince was dating!"

"What!? My Prince Wolf is getting married!? Who stole him from me!?"

"Ah... All the single girls out there that had the hope of one day marrying the Prince, that hope is now gone..."

"So long as my Prince Wolf is happy, I am happy for him... (cries herself to sleep)"

"I also come from a Baron household. But I am a guy."

"Aren't they too young? Also, wtf person above?"

"Guys! Have you seen the girl's personal profile? The Royal Palace has just left a link on their page!"

"Oh? Let's go and see!!"
