The history of the world had a drastic change since a large meteorite came to the Earth and exploded once it entered the atmosphere. Smaller pieces of the meteorite hit the actual ground, destroying towns and cities; while a fog developed in the air. No one understood that the fog was more powerful than the physical meteorite hitting the ground and changing the soil particles, which led to drastic changes to all plant life. The survivors could see that the grounds had many changes and any animal or plant near the changed grounds seemed to develop different features as well.
They mostly focused on the impact of the meteor hitting the ground as the fog soon dispersed into the clouds and soon forgotten. It was not until the rains fell, including places that were not used to rain, that people started to remember the fog. It did not rain record falls that time, just that it seemed to rain everywhere on earth at the same time, creating a spectacle as it has never happened before. Soon the skies cleared, and the people tried to make sense of what had occurred.
Months later, it happened. At first, people got sick with what seemed like the flu or the common cold. No one really died or anything, just that after recovering, their bodies had changed drastically. Drastically, as in their bodies either improved or were made weaker as well as physical changes such as hair and eye colors. They noticed that healthy fit people were the ones that had improved their physical strength whereas people who were originally unhealthy or sick, only got worse.
Modern science could not properly diagnose the situation, but blamed all the changes on the meteor as there were now new particles in the air that people were breathing in. These same particles also appeared in the food supply and eventually in the changed humans. The scientists concluded that a new mutation had been the cause after many hours of studying people's blood work and food supply.
Babies being born during this time were being born with the mutations. In the name of science, many scientists performed inhumane acts of experiments on people that had showed mutations. Including babies and their mothers. All of this were being done in the dark with the governments in full support. Soon after, it was leaked that all sorts of experiments were being conducted with the governments backing them; the masses went into total anarchy.
There were no simple protests. Rioting and looting became the way of life during this time. The masses could not be controlled properly; especially if they had an understanding of their new mutated powers.
The world leaders, during the time that everyone else were being mutated, had hidden themselves and had eaten only processed foods that were made before the changes. Thus, making them and their retainers some of the weakest humans on the planet, physically. This led to many of the rioters to question whether the old world leaders were fit to continue leading the new world and their changes.
During this era, many fights led to battles, that eventually led to wars. Old weapons were soon made obsolete as the mutated people had stronger and tougher bodies. They soon got used to their new powers and formed their own groups that later turned to new nations. The strongest of the mutated were people who could control elements freely. These became the new leaders while the most abundant people were those who could work with their hands.
The world had changed, but people's mindset were still settled on how it used to be. The new societies that sprung up were reminiscent to their old governments; however, with all the new mutations, it became difficult to just keep an elected president when very charismatic and strong mutants wanted to take control. Eventually, the strongest ruled the new territories and tried to implement their old ways of life, like their old technology.
When the world turned chaotic, many old technology had been lost while others became obsolete with all the new mutations. Even though that was the case, people still remembered driving and flying. During this time, new technology was born with the acceptance of all the mutations. Afterwards, people started to remember other things that they missed, like art and music. It took centuries for the new nations to settle peacefully and centuries more to try to emulate the old societies.
As all this was happening, no one seemed to pay attention to the fact that it was not just the humans, plant life and any food supply that had changed, but that all animals were also evolving themselves at a very noticeable rate. Not until they had formed their own groups and societies that people started to notice them which later led to human vs. beast wars over territory and food. But that was not until much later in history and to be told until next time.

People nowadays are all born with some sort of inherited mutations, passed on by their forefathers, to the point that they are no longer even called mutations at birth but powers. These powers do not change, but they can evolve into stronger powers. All known powers are documented and well accepted in society, whereas any new or never heard of or even totally different powers from their forefathers would be considered a mutation.
Elizabella was soon escorted to a private room when she reached the Palace and waited for the Royal Physician and his nurse. The Royal Family had asked Elizabella to bring her last physical documentation to see if there had been any changes since then. Before she had come to live with her aunt, her body had gone through a great change due to the stress of her dead family.
Many tests were done on her and concluded that she had gone through a mutation that only appeared on her tests if she was stressed. Otherwise, her tests appear normal.
In Elizabella's case, she was born with the common powers of "Production" and "Destruction". Many of the commoners have these powers and only some have elemental powers. Only the Royal Family have evolved elemental abilities, like the Crown Prince is known to have "Flames" and "Earth" just like his father the reigning King.
The mutations that appear on Elizabella's tests are a bit overwhelming that she has been prescribed to never become upset or else her powers could get out of control. Her powers are so overwhelming that they have dubbed one of their names to be "Creation", on the count that she can create even living breathing beings with her hands; however, this power requires a lot out of her that she doesn't ever use this power.
Her second mutation was dubbed "Void", on the count of anything she touched, whether living or not, would completely disappear and turn to a pile of black feathers. This one frightened the researchers that they asked that she try to never get angry again.
Since her mutations, another thing has changed about her body and that is that she can regenerate her body at a much faster pace that it can even be seen healing at a glance. She has always been able to do this since young, just that it is now faster, making others believe that she evolved her regeneration powers.
As a child, her regeneration power were not noteworthy to the point that it was deemed unmentionable. However, Elizabella believes that she had been misdiagnosed or mislabeled since her regeneration power feels terribly similar to her "Production" and "Creation" power. The only real difference is that "Production" and "Creation" is normally done outside her body while her regeneration is inside her body.
She had heard that her grandfather had similar powers to her and, in fact, are inherited powers. However, she never had the chance to speak to him about it since they lived in different countries and he passed away when she was young.
The tests went smoothly and Elizabella hoped that they did not find anything about her "mutations," since they never showed up on her tests before unless she was stressed. She sighed when they did not find anything abnormal during the tests and hoped that they would not find anything with her blood tests.
