Chapter 11 - Ch 11: the advice

Aric's smile stiffened and he replied " well, I need your help with something "

He then proceeded to pull a jade token from his pocket, it was white in colour and radiated a light calming aura.

Leonard smiled when he saw the token and asked " lost on what art to pick huh? "

Aric nodded his head helplessly, he was a special case after all, since classes won't start until a week from now, he was lost without an option on who to contact and ask for advice.

And although there was a library in the academy he could access, as the lowest-ranked disciple, he could only read books from only the first floor, which didn't include any material on the arts in the different pavilions.

" Well I don't mind giving advice, but I'll need the attribute test results for that " Leonard reached his hand and Aric pulled the note that came with the token and handed it to him.

Leonard skimmed through the note, he then put it aside and looked Aric in the eyes and said.

" Well with a decent fire and light elemental talent you do have a lot of choice in your hand, what's your weapon of choice ?" Leonard started with an obvious question, the weapon you use needs to be compatible with the art you train, else your prowess would be reduced greatly.

" The staff " Aric responded firmly.

" Well that does narrow it down quite a bit, are you seeking fast growth or long-term potential?"

" Long term petontial of course" although Aric was in dire need for power, he would never be willing to sacrifice his future prospect for short term gains, this was the general thought process for the majority of people, who knows what the future hold, it's best to keep a chicken that rarely lays eggs alive, because maybe one day it may lay a golden egg and bring you great prospect, by killing it though, you are making sure that that'll never happens.

Hearing Aric's response, Leonard nodded his head in approval, but then his eyes turned a notch darker and he uttered  " well now for the most important question."

Aric was dumbfounded, there was still a question yet?

Leonard opened his mouth and spoke in all seriousness " you going for the underdog kind of vibe or the unyielding heroic plotline?  "

Aric tipped off of his chair and fell on the floor, he was put on edge from the guy's serious tone, but the words that left Leonard's mouth afterwards left him dazed.

_ underdog kind of vibe ?! Does this guy think we live in a fantasy or what? _ it took Aric a while to regain his composure, he then decided, well might as well go with this dude's train of thought.

" Well I do have the tragic backstory on the line, and with like twelve royalty class individuals trying to get my head, why not go for the underdog route, right ?" Although stated in a cheezy way, it was the truth, no matter how little power he obtains in his practice, he needs to hide it, best be cautious than sorry and bring extra trouble to be dealt with.

" A wise choice indeed " Leonard replied with a smile " then it'd be an obvious choice, the crimson dawn flame art would be the best such mystic art, it's a mid-grade basic art with great potential, and with no visible effects on your body structure and aura, no one will know how strong you truly are, only what you expose to others "

Aric seemed impressed by the art already, but it seemed odd for only this much to reward the best choice since, after all, the white pavilion held only basic arts but among those, there are at least a dozen high graded ones.

Thus Aric questioned, " that's it ?"

In response to his doubt, Leonard smirked and replied " well if you're in it for the long ride that's the best choice since the art would be the best segway to the high-grade advanced art " holy flame rebirth art", an advanced art held in the blue pavilion "

Hearing this Aric was finally enlightened, a basic art has a potential limit at the peak of an apprentice paladin, it records nothing of the journey beyond that point but an advance art is different, it can be used to advance into the rank of an aura master.

Although the grade of the art didn't mean it had limited reach rather how fast and powerful it is, it's rank did, a basic art stops being of use at the rank of an apprentice paladin, an advance one can be used throughout the path of an aura master, a law class technique can give birth to a false immortal, and a legacy can go even beyond, giving birth to an emperor amongst man.

The way the academy works is that after the seven years of tutelage, the student will lose access to the services and resources of the academy, but they'll still have the arts they studied imprinted in they're minds.

Although he can't teach anyone else these arts under the academy's conditions, he still can use the art to grow further himself.

The difference between the treatment given to an apprentice paladin and an aura master in the different organizations and guilds is like the difference between a slave and a noble of the government.

And it seems that was the meaning behind Leonard's words, if he got access to advanced art, which seems from its name to carry his dual attribute, it would mean opening the door to greater heights in the later years of his life, and greatly increasing his future prospects.

Having made it this far in his thought process, Aric resoluved his mind and chose to go with the crimson dawn flame art.

Aric got off the chair and bowed deeply to Leonard " I appreciate the wisdom and teachings you passed to me this day sir Leonard "

Leonard waved at him indifferently and replied " no need to be this serious, I hate you southerner's stiff attitudes, you need to learn how to be chill for once "

Hearing Leonard's reply, Aric smiled awkwardly, he then turned around and made his way towards the office's door.

the moment he laid his hand on the  door's handle , a sharp roar resounded through the entire medic sector.

" ROAAAAAAR"
