MAX'S POV
Ruby's face wasn't flooding anymore. Her head was resting on my shoulder , she still had tissue clamped in her palm and she still dabbing at her nose and eyes. This was a level of familiarity we hadn't quite gotten to and yet when her head rested the on my shoulder i couldn't move. I didn't want to disturb her and for some reason i got temporarily paralysed. It been a few stops to impossible to be here and not cry as well. I felt like that would beat the whole me being a rock brand I was expressing.
" Am here, okay. " I reminded her, Our eyes peeking out through the front door that none of us had bothered to close when Nate and Alvah exited. The furthest any of us had moved was when I passed Ruby a glass of water from the table and even when she was done with it she put it on the arm rest so she wouldn't have to move either. It happened that she found the warmth of our bodies touching as consoling as I did.
