Chapter 1 - A Beginning

(Xanlandia)

Zondra

"We must do it quickly, it's killing him!," I warned. I put down the feverish baby on the bed and turned towards the window. I peered through the window hoping the specialty magician was here.

"Dos is on the way, be patient," said Hellion.

*knock knock*

"That must be him," I said. Instinctively I took out my dagger of course.

"It's me," said Dos as he put his hands up and backed out.

"Come in, hurry up," I whispered while closing the door. We began setting up the spell circle on the living room floor, careful not to make any mistakes as it could spell the end of my son.

"I'm ready to start," said Dos.

"Back up Zondra," said Hellion.

"Omnomnsalamnamnom," chanted Dos as he sprinkled gold dust around the magic circle. Then he placed sorin in the middle. Then he finally used it.

Sealing V|

"And Your sure this will hold Dos?," asked Hellion.

"Yes, this is A Rank Sealing Magic," said Dos.

"Zondra take Sorin and leave through the back," He said as He took his armor off of the stand. They were going to be here any minute now, We had to be prepared.

"But what about you," I said as I put the baby in my arms down on the bed.

"I will help you fight, together we ca-," I started.

"No, get sorin out of here. I will buy you time," He objected while sheathing his twin swords. It was time for me to go.

"Leave now," He commanded. I started gathering my stuff in a bag and pulled a book on the shelf. That's when the whole bookshelf slid back to reveal a hidden hallway, it soon closed after as her figure disappeared behind it with the baby. You could hear sobbing on the other end.

"Come on out Hellion, Erebus and his army are here already," said another voice from the outside of the cabin.

"I'm coming Now," he said. I sealed the secret pathway as soon as me and Sorin were through. We walked for what seemed like hours but we finally made it to the end of the secret pathway and came out on the other side into some woods.

My first objective was to get Soren out safely, but where to take him though? I had to seal his skill first so no one would ever find him. There had been a breach in intel, Sorin had been born with the most mana in history. The Demon King was now after him, because of his uncanny natural ability and because of the recent prophecy that all seeds have been seeing lately.

I knew only one place where he would be safe, the Magicknight Academy. I had to get him there quickly. I got to the emergency portal tower and started working as soon as I could.

We made it to the gates of the city to meet the Demon King and his army. I had taken Sorin to the academy in the capital and teleported back safely. All of the Outer wall guardsmen were assembled as well as all of the adventurers in the town.

"You know we're going to our death," said one soldier.

"I'll take some of them with me," said another. I looked around and decided some sort of speech was in order.

"Tonight The Demon Kings reign ends, no more torment, I will take him with me to hell before I endure anymore of it," I boomed as I put my sword up in the air.

"Raaaaaah," They cheered for what seemed like ages but it was just a moment, because I knew I had a job to do.

"Open the gates," I said

"Yes Captain!," the two guards said in unison.

"For Xanlandia," I roared

For Xanlandia!!!," echoed the rest of my men.

When we opened the gates we saw them standing there about a football fields length away. We marched a bit towards each other until half of the distance was covered.

"So where is this baby that has potential without limit," said a voice...

I looked up into the sky to see a figure rising above the Dark army, it was none other than the Demon King himself.

"You'll never find him," I said vehemently as I pointed my sword.

15 years Later...

(Xanlandia, Danos City)

Sorin

"Pay attention Sorin," said Mr.Slans He moved from the chalkboard and came over to my desk.

"Is something bothering you," he asked.

"No, nothing," I said as I picked up my textbook.

"Good, then you can be the one to tell me what are the four base elements that magic knights use," demanded Mr.Slans.

"The four base elements are wind, fire, earth, and water ," I said nonchalantly as I read what my best friend Corey wrote down on his parchment that he held up.

"Perhaps there is hope for you yet, Class dismissed," said Mr. Slans

As I was walking through the halls I saw one of the school beauties Kenna. She was a prodigy, and had two elemental releases at such a young age.

"If it isn't the Disgrace of the academy," said a voice. I looked over to see Murklin standing next to her with his arm over her shoulder. There was no way.

But Murklin was right, Sorin had so little mana that he could barely fly and low scores, he should have been just a knight but he wanted strength. The strength to do whatever he wanted whenever he wanted so he was determined to study more than one class in the academy.

As I was walking back to the dorms after class I watched the sun set behind the tall buildings of the city and thought about my parents. All I had left of them was the gold pendant they had left me. it had strange magic runes engraved on it that weren't in his textbooks...

"Oh crap, I told nald I'd meet him up for extra training today! I'll have to take the shortcut," I exclaimed. If I was late again he wouldn't let me hear the end of it. As I was crossing through the alleys of the city I came to the crossroads that I had been at time and time again but this time something was off.

"I thought we told you to have the money today!," yelled a voice from the left side of the alley crossroads. I recognized that voice, that had to be Murklin. To the right side a few blocks down was the academy dorms and training field. As I was about to walk to the right I heard a crash...

"Please no, my father won't give me anymore," said another voice.

"You should have tried harder!," said Murklin.

I could no longer ignore this, I was no hero but I had to act. Somebody had to put Murklin in his place. When I got to the end of the left crossroads I saw Murklin and two of his friends towering over the E ranked student Sands, who was a brown haired noble but didn't inherit the strength of one. He couldn't even use his bloodline skill due to lack of the needed mana.

"Oi, stop," I commanded. Murklin turned his head and started smiling immediately. His two friends looked over to see who would dare command there leader and sands looked relieved to see help.

"Oh so your going to pay me for him Orphan?," teased Murklin.

"Sure, I'm kind of low on coin right now though, do you take pain?," I said threateningly.

"Hahaha," chuckled one of Murklins friends.

"Shut up Idiot!," snapped Murklin.

"Just walk away Murklin," I warned. I then looked at sands and motioned with my head for him to escape.

"That's not possible loser, get him," boomed Murklin as he pointed at me.

Both of his friends walked over to me and took their positions on each side of me two steps away.

"Take this!," yelled the underling on the left of me as he launched a hook. I got flattened against the wall even though I blocked with both arms, Mana could be used to amplify the strength of people and the difference between our Mana was just too vast. I was only a little bit stronger than sands.

"And this!," said the other as they cracked the wall behind me with there force. I was starting to lose a lot of stamina and mana and my guard slipped...

*Crack!*

Suddenly I was seeing stars and laying on the ground, then I saw a foot coming and my head pounded with pain at the impact.

"What's that he's got around his neck?," said Murklin from about five feet away from the scene of the beating.

"Here," said one of his friends as he snatched the gold pendant from my neck and tossed it to Murklin.

"Give it back," I muttered as I struggled to stand on even one knee.

"Make me. This is enchanted gear! I could sell this for a lot of coin," gasped Murklin while he inspected the engravings.

"We really hit the jackpot this time murk," said the other underling who then kicked me back down and held his foot over my head.

"I said...GIVE IT BACK!!!," I boomed. Magic runes started appearing all over my body and they constricted my movement for a second or two before giving way as an explosion of mana erupted from my body blowing everyone in the alley back and shaking what seemed like the whole city with a mana wave.

"What was that," asked Murklin when he sat up, then he noticed me and his face contorted in anger.

"You!!! What the, How do you have so much mana?," asked Murklin as the color drained from his face and his anger faded to be replaced by fear.

|Divine Eyes: Earthly Sight|

Ever since those magic runes were lifted, things changed drastically. I feel more comfortable as if my mana can flow freely now, not only did I have what felt like a hundred times more mana, I could now see Murklins stats, his level, skills, and mana above his head without a stat measurer.

I instantly snapped out of studying his stats as I saw Murklin begin to mutter something under his breath and raise his hands, ice spikes raced towards me with frightening speed and then they just disappeared when I blinked. Then Murklin raised his hands just like before and my instincts told me to act.

|Quantum Leap|

The spikes were definitely real this time as they thudded against the wall where I had just been. I looked at the spot where I had just been confused as to how I moved five feet away nearly instantly, to test it I imagined myself moving closer to Murklin.

|Quantum Leap|

"No way!," gasped Murklin.

I pulled back my fist and landed a blow that threw Murklin back making him leave a small crater in the alley wall where he fell unconscious.

I suppressed my mana back down to the level it was before the magic seal came off as to not attract attention. Everyone knew the story of the Child Of legend who the Demon clan tore through half of the countries of the world in order to find.

I looked down at my hands in wonder all the way towards the training field where nald was waiting for me patiently.

"Oi, there you are sorin. Did you feel that enormous mana?," asked Nald.

"About that...," I began carefully.

"Your late again sorin, if your not interested in getting stronger then don't waste my time," sighed Nald.

"No it's not like that I swear, I just got lost in the alleys," I said pleadingly.

"You know the alleys of this city like the back of your hand, did you run into Murklin again?," insisted Nald.

Nald and I had been best friends since childhood even though he was a high ranking noble, and an A ranked one. He was the hero type and always tried to protect the weak, he knew me well so it was hard to keep things from him.

"I handled it, let's just get started," I reminded him.

"Well you don't look bruised today so I'll take your word for it, get ready," said Nald. Then he handed me a standard training sword and we each walked to the other end of the field ten feet away from each other. I picked up the practice armor

"Come!," yelled Nald while he lunged towards me with quick strides.

"Haaa!," I challenged as I ran forward to meet him in the center of the field

*Clang!*

"How about this!," I roared breaking the stand still and forcing his sword to the left with raw strength then bringing down my sword for a strike on his practice armor.

*Clang!*

*Clang!*

*Clang!*

"What the?," whispered Nald. I had begun to raise my mana from that of an F rank to a high tier A rank without even meaning to, now that this strength had been unsealed it was hard to hold back.

"That's more like it! Where did you get this power, was that you earlier?," asked Nald.

"About that...," I said cautiously.

"It's not as strong as before but the feel of the mana is the same," said Nald.

"You can't tell anyone Nald," I whispered as I lowered my practice sword.

"But why, that felt like the power of an X rank. Guilds everywhere would pay a fortune to get you to join," raved Nald.

"The news of a new X ranked adventurer could...," I started.

"It could spark a war with the Demon Clan because of the legend...," finished Nald. Hundreds of years ago one day every seer in the world had the same prophecy, that a phenomenal hero would be born and rid the world of the God ranked Demon King who although was sealed was very much still a threat as seals eventually expire.
