Nnenna hastenly served the jollof rice she had just finished cooking. She made sure it was well arranged on the tray looking more mouth watering as ever; the steamy jollof rice placed on a flat breakable plate; the gigantic fried turkey covered in a Stainless Steel pot-like plate and finally a chilled bottle of Eva water already dripping from the evaporated steam gushing out evenly.
One would think she was on her way of serving a mighty queen. But when it came to occasions like this, her aunt was always fully prepared.
A robust lady in her mid 40's was dressed in an orange lace, embolished in the most beautiful jewelries ever; from the look of it, it was worth a fortune. Besides her appealing appearance she had an exact resemblance of Chelsea but her sister did beat her to it.
She had this irritated look on her face despite the presence of the food Nnenna served.
As Nnenna retired back to the kitchen, Aunt Moji and Chelsea's mom conversation slowly turned to murmurs. Suddenly Chelsea's words came lingering in her mind again, she then became intrigued to eavesdrop.
She followed by setting a kitchen stool below the kitchen high up, more like a window passage as height wasn't in her favor. She carefully set a balance on it though it still made sounds that it was unsteady. She drew closer and strained those ears
"Chelsea is as beautiful as her mother! Now I see where she got the whole beauty from" Aunt Moji's voice trailed through as silence followed but Nne guessed she had nodded in her agreement to her aunt compliment.
"So like for how long is Chelsea going to be staying over?"
"Judging from my husband's condition, I think she will have to finish her last days of secondary school here at your niece's school" she paused "So I think three months or there about. My honey, worries it would be difficult to take her along with us to fit into the states curriculum easily so my sister thought here is kinda better "
Murmurs follows and Nne was already pissed that she could barely hear anything and the stool didn't sound like it could hold her still any much longer.
"Thanks for your help, I wish we could return favor"
"aww... Never mind"
"But I need you to really watch Chelsea, letting her out is like taking the biggest risk ever"
Uh-huh...
Clamp!
She landed flat on her face with a bruised and arm. Immediately realising her condition, she scurried along before the sight of her aunt.

That Sunday afternoon, Nnenna prepared to go make her hair with Chelsea as Aunt moji had instructed.
Nnenna bonded her hair with a pink ribbon which between the last few days before their summer break she would never have done for she was more of a tomboy and Aunt Moji wondered why. These days she had started caring more about her looks and how attracting she was, looking at the mirror couple of times before heading out.
"Chelly" Nne called out, damn it with the nicknames she is so obsessed with it. "Hurry before the place is filled up"
She and Chelsea had not really related these past few days apart from the little exchange of few words. Nne retrained from knowing further for Chelsea's privacy purpose not wanting to get on her bad side. But that didn't stop her from imagining lots of things that could be the reason for her sudden outburst.
"Hello" Nnenna responded to the ringing of her cellular device without checking the caller ID. She and Chelsea had strolled barely far from home now though approaching the salon already in silence.
"Ada, you wouldn't believe it!" the humorous voice of her long childhood friend trailed through; it was jasper.
"Jasppie!" she exclaimed "You can't say more, gist me jo"
"King is back, he arrived just yesterday with his father from a night flight"
"Aww... Our future president is back. Hope our goodies are in check? "
"our goodies keh, when that mysterious witch is there, I hear"
"Don't worry na, it's me and him tomorrow we would see how whiny Winnie want to come in between us"
Laughter filled the air, Good times. The trio were always found together right from their days as children they were tagged as the neighborhood buddies. Growing up in the same environment never losing the sight of one another. It is indeed a adventurous yet thrilling relationship.
"What are you up to jare?"
"Nothing much, just heading to the salon with one of my aunt's friend" Nnenna said now looking at Chelsea's direction and noticing an awkward look on her face
"See Jasppie, I'll see to your call later. I gotta go now, bye! " She ended the call without further words from jasper
"Are you okay?" Nnenna asked calmly and Chelsea nodded
"Who was that?"
"Oh! My bestie. He is a guy actually"
Chelsea giggled
"What's making you laugh?"
"Duhhh... Which girl would want to be referred as Jasppie?"
They both chuckled.
