(The next day during the morning.)
There was a knock on the door, and Alicia headed over to see who it was. The boy from yesterday was standing there with an awkward expression. He seemed to fidget a lot before he asked a question.
"May I ask... why exactly are you all sharing a single room?"
"We thought there would be enough room for all of us to stay here, is that an issue?"
"No, not at all, I will escort you guys to the examination room. Are you ready to leave right now or do I need to give you time?"
"We can go right now."
"Ok then please follow me."
The trio followed the boy who had walked towards the statue by the end of the corridor. He said a few words and a bright light filled the corridor and blinded the teenagers. When they opened their eyes, they found themselves within another large hall with several wood desks around them. On each chair was a stack of papers and a quill. There were also notebooks placed by the side.
The boy seemed especially tired as he lazily gestured to everything around them.
"Choose any desk you wish and please wait for the others before you start anything."
The angels silently agreed and took three desks near each other. Hannah checked her notebook, and it was 70 empty pages. She checked the paper sheets, and they were all empty. She turned to Kyle to see him doing the same as her.
"What exactly do you think you're doing?"
"Staring right back at you out of boredom."
Hannah just gave a nod of her head before turning to the sheets of paper before her. She counted 10 of them, half of them being extremely heavy. She just left them like that and turned to look at the other empty desks around them. People appeared in beams of light at random spots, and they would quickly have a chat with the boy before they sat down.
He seemed to welcome them all and would only say a few words. They beamed the female elf from earlier called Nanette to a desk that was two rows ahead of the angels'. She spotted them as she was sitting down and glanced away. Kyle found that to be rather strange, but kept his opinion to himself.
Soon all the chairs in the hall had someone sitting on them, and they could hear only the sound of endless banter. Kyle had no interest in seeing what everybody was talking about, so he fiddled around with the quill.
Five minutes had passed by before a loud clapping noise drowned out the banter. Everybody went silent to look for the source of the clapping, and the boy from earlier was sitting on a chair atop a pedestal. He was looking down on everybody with a stoic expression.
There was another person to his right sitting on a chair similar to his. It was the female Demi-human who had led Kyle the day before. The boy stood from his chair and cleared his throat. It seemed to be some sort of habit.
"Alright, so we shall start the paper exam and any form of cheating will show immediately, just so you can be aware. Now, please turn to the sheets of paper before you and start your exams for the next hour and the notebooks to your sides are for any calculations you may wish to do. I wish you all good luck!"
And they could hear with that the sound of a bell in the distance and everyone turned to their papers.
{Hopefully we can have those three join our academy.}
************
(After two hours, still morning.)
Kyle stretched his muscles as he yawned audibly. Alicia rolled her eyes and returned to reading her book. Hannah had been trying to put her magic research to use at the empty corner of the room and was happy to find that majority of her research proved accurate.
Kyle walked to the bookshelves and quickly searched before pulling a familiar book from the day before.
[Dimension construct creation processes]
He had successfully created the extra holy dimension however its benefits were yet to be showing. He had tried to enter it himself the day before, but it kicked him out with an unknown force even before he could catch a glimpse. He was rapidly shifting through the pages until he reached the page on [dimensional storage]
The page had a few diagrams of spheres and cuboids explaining the process of storage purpose within dimensional rifts.
{Through the research of mage Marica Spring of the Dragon-kin, dimensional storage's considered being a derivative of Spacial transportation magic, which is not a well-known subject. However, it's known that for dimensional storage to take place; the element used in creation takes priority. For instance, the four basic elements currently known can influence what happens in dimensional storage, as if you were to place large quantities of hydro-imbued objects into a Pyro dimensional rift it could cause degradation of both the objects and the dimension. Why this is so is out of our knowledge as well. If we could create an Omni-magical dimensional rift and make it easily accessible to the wide populace of mages, it would probably no longer be an issue.
To allow for dimensional storage requires an expense of magic energy into opening the dimensional rift and then sending the object through by contact. There are more requirements, especially for objects that may surpass the power of the dimensional rift's creator; such as being unable to pull out the object in the desired situation or the constant need to fuel magic into the dimensional rift to pull out simple objects. In such moments it is advisable to use a unique dimensional key that can be any object of the creator's choosing. The key forms an instant pathway to the dimensional rift for easy storage and efficient transportation. However, the requirements to create one can be quite heavy.}
Kyle was smiling to himself as he realised this probably wasn't the page he needed. But the ability to store objects within the dimensional rift sounded good. He headed over to Alicia, who had been reading her book for the past hour. He stood behind her and peered over her head to see what she had been reading.
It was a cooking book.
Kyle sat down on another chair at the dining table and stretched his hand over a book that was nearby. He concentrated on moving magic through his body to his outstretched hand and activate his gate. He had simplified gathering magic in his body, and that was by thinking and shaking the desired body part slightly.
(A/N: No dirty thoughts, please.)
The circle on his backhand glowed brighter and brighter, and they could hear a barely audible buzzing sound. The circle then glowed a bright golden, and the light covered the book in small golden dust. The next moment the book vanished from sight, along with a large piece of the table and a hole in the floor.
"Oh..."
Kyle could feel his arm being a slight bit heavier and he fell off his chair. He massaged his temples and got up to feel the odd imbalance gone. He then admired his handiwork as a circular-cut had been made into the table and a large chink of the floor under had also disappeared as well, leaving spider web cracks that spread outwards.
Alicia looked up from her book and stared at Kyle with a dubious expression.
"Did you do that?"
"Yea..."
"What were you experimenting?"
"Dimensional storage..."
"And it worked as desired?"
"It ate the table and floor..."
"OK."
Alicia returned to her book as if it no longer mattered to her. Kyle chuckled and tried summoning the book back. It worked just as he thought it would, and he returned the book to the bookshelves.
Hannah walked over with an extremely tired look and dark rings under her eyes. She had spent her energy in practising her research. She only wanted a place to rest now without having to go through that research for a while...
"What did you think of that test?"
"Hm?"
Hannah turned to see a beaming Kyle who had asked her for her thoughts on the test two hours past.
"Well, what did you think if the 100 questions?.."
"They were fair."
"Starting tomorrow, it looks like we will be official students of the academy."
"Yea, I guess so."
