Chapter 4 - Consequences

"Papa." Gwyn called as she walked into her home, it was the mansion nobles of the clan had lived in for centuries. It was four stories high and had an arching roof, there was a large pointed apex in it's center. It was a traditional Japanese building, only larger. It was painted in a bright shade of white that seemed to glisten when struck by sunlight.

"Give up? You still have a bit more time you know." Nobu sat before her his back turned, completely enveloped in the ritual of making tea.

"No, I already did it" she smiled

"Great, so I hope you now understand that observing a target and deducing it's weakness before attacking is an important quality."

"Actually... " Gwyn twiddled her thumbs

"I didn't find it's weakness, I just increased my strength and overpowered it"

"What do you mean 'increase your strength'? "

"You know, that meditation thing" she answered

Nobu turned to face her and sighed.

"You can't always rely on raw strength, I've told you before. Your 200% could be someone's 5%, against an opponent like that tactic is your only chance"

"But pa, I can get stronger and multiply maybe even up to 500%"

Nobu was getting annoyed by her ignorance.

"What happens to someone if they exert 100% of there strength? " he asked

"They'll be exhausted and might go unconscious" she replied

"Exactly. Then what will happen if they use 500%?"

She didn't answer, she finally understood what her father was saying.

"Power proliferation can be very deadly and have lethal drawbacks. The human body can barely contain all of its natural strength, so when you force more into it, it can burst open. It can also causes a lack of sensitivity or higher pain tolerance, which has its advantages. But pain is important, it's a warning signal alerting you that something's wrong."

He pointed to a large open wound along her chest.

"You've been bleeding for the last few minutes but had no idea"

Gwyn looked down in shock to see her clothes and her surroundings drenched in her own blood. She drifted into unconsciousness as the over exertion and major blood loss took it's toll
