Chapter 8 - Sibling rivalry

Nishi attacked, taking the initiative for the first time in the fight, he swung his blade at her repeatedly, getting quicker and quicker with each move. Huge ripples were sent outwards from the blows, shaking the stands. Gwyn was dodging well but eventually she was slit along her left cheek, then her right shoulder, then her forehead. She couldn't keep up with his speed, still he got faster. Nishi was dishing out blows repeatedly, her abdomen was now cut and both arms had minor injuries. Nishi pushed forward once more. He went for a diagonal slash at her stomach, Gwyn blocked with her sword but the force of her brothers attack pushed it backwards, slamming into her and breaking her skin. She now realized that he was not only quicker, but stronger than she gave him credit.  Gwyn jumped backwards, putting distance between her and her opponent. She grabbed arrows from her quiver and threw at him, these weren't normal throws however, as she threw with as much force as a bow, possibly more. Nishi avoided the onslaught of arrows before one struck him soundly in his left shoulder. As quickly as it pierced him he pulled it out and threw it back like a missile, it severed the quiver from her back, she didn't miss a beat as she sped forward. As soon as she got close a kick landed in her face, sending her back. Gwyn decided she would bet everything on Apo's technique, she jumped backwards once more, held her Katana in her right hand and concentrated. In a few seconds she felt her energy increase, she didn't hold on to it, instead she directed it to her blade and it quickly began to harden. In a matter of seconds it was twice as hard as before and got harder still. Nishi advanced, he wasn't about to allow her to power up. Gwyn threw her last shuriken at him to slow him down, he countered in an usual way. He started spinning rapidly, dragging his Katana in the sand. This made the water cloudy and messed up her aim. He continued spinning, the cloud got larger and larger and came towards her, she couldn't see him. That's when Nishi heard it, a loud unusual sound, it was somehow familiar too. He slowly recognized what it was.

Laughter.

"HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"

Gwyn's laughter. Whenever she felt threatened or was faced with death instead of being afraid, she laughed. A terrifying screeching sound. For many who opposed the Nato clan it was the last thing they heard. She was vicious in this state.

The 'cloud' was upon her now and Nishi pounced on her from an angle she wasn't expecting. She brought her hand behind her, ready to pull sword fighting 101. The pointy end goes into the other guy. Nishi saw this and was ready for it. It was an amateur move. He was in for a surprise, Gwyn's hand never came. Instead in the blink of an eye she switched the blade to her left hand which rocketed forward. Her Katana went straight through the left side of Nishi's torso. A deadly blow.  He leapt backwards, Gwyn didn't ease him up, she attacked again still hardening her blade she swung at his neck. Enraged he Side stepped her, slamming his fist into her sword snapping it. He attacked her midsection again, slashing it. This was a distraction however, before she knew it his blade was pointed at her face and sped forward. It was too fast.

She couldn't dodge.

With Nishi's sword inches from her face she brought her hands together on it like a clap with massive force, it broke into pieces instantly. Gwyn reacted that moment, grabbing some of the shards and hurled them at him, cutting next his eye and all over his upper body. She jumped forward banging her fist into his stomach. He went limp and started falling backwards.

'If his back touches the ground he loses' Gwyn told herself.  Normally she would sacrifice her feelings to get her brother to like her, but losing a fight intentionally was out of it. She also knew he would want to beat her at full power.

With only a few feet above the ground Nishi's body activated again, he still fell but his hands were extended behind him keeping his back above ground. He sprung up and something collided with Gwyn's forehead.

A stone. He must have grabbed it as soon as he fell.

Both fighters were heavily injured and were without a weapon, but that didn't stop them.

They ran at each other, determined to win.  They both pulled on their last bits of strength and punched. Their fists collided with a deafening bang that shook the earth and the water around them, maybe even the air way above. The glass protecting the spectators shattered and they were sucked into the water. Gwyn noticed and was about to help when her father stopped her.

"FIGHT!  FIGHT MY CHILDREN!!" He yelled smiling, he was proud of the warriors they had become. Nobu,  Apo,  Shin and a couple others quickly grabbed the people and sped them to safety. In no time they were all out of the water.

Nishi attacked while she was distracted, punching her in the liver. She replied with an uppercut that sent his head upwards then fired a kick into his stomach sending him metres back. He stood there angry. Not at her but at himself. How would he take this world if he couldn't beat his sister? How would he conquer entire nations if he couldn't beat one person? His anger grew.

~ FLASHBACK ~

A young boy was in a forest training, he had been at it for 10 days now. He hadn't eaten or rested, his parents were looking for him but he didn't care. He was trying to perfect a move but he couldn't. He tried over and over until he fell.

"Shi ha ha ha" his father laughed from a tree above him.

"I finally found you." He said as he jumped to the ground.

The boy tried to move but he couldn't.

"Why can't I move? " he asked

"It's only natural, your body is taxed,  you might not be able to move for a week. What were you doing by the way? "

"I was trying to learn a technique to take down multiple opponents. But I couldn't" the boy replied reluctantly.

"You can try planting your feet then shoot all the strength in them to your upper body then smash your fist into the ground. That's my favorite. Your feet are about four times stronger than your arms so you should utilize that. I'm not here to teach you though son, I'm here to reprimand you. You had me worried, and you need to understand that your a human. You have limits"

"Limits? Then I don't wanna be human." Nishi said as he slowly stood.

He came back to the matter at hand.

He realized that a 'man' couldn't rule this world. He needed to be a God. Nishi focused on his goals and multiplied his power. His strength skyrocketed.

100%

150%

180%

The wound on his abdomen ripped open, getting larger and larger as he forced more power into his body. It grew larger stretching it's way up his body. It went on climbing, ripping through his shoulder and tearing his left arm off cleanly, blood leapt from the wound, but still he continued.

"I can't."

"I WON'T!"

"I WON'T LOSE!!!!"  He yelled.  His father called out to him to stop but he couldn't hear.

The ground beneath him started crack from the raw power he was out putting. He planted his feet and slammed his right hand into the ground. Smashing it. Huge cracks leapt from the damaged area and the entire clan trembled. Gwyn was blasted back and lost consciousness. Nishi's punch set off an earthquake and a huge tsunami headed for the clan.
