They were about 600 feet down, they didn't stop there however going on for about 500 more. The sun was intense, it couldn't be felt from this area but it's determined rays plunged through the bone chilling waters to provide some lighting. The light was scattered by the water, creating small fluctuating shadows. There were barely any creatures here except for the occasional crab that scuttled along the seabed and retreated to the protection of it's tiny hole at the first sign of danger and the lone fish that swam along. Finally, they stood on the seafloor. A normal person would quickly die from the ungodly pressure at this depth but Gwyn and the others were fine and moved without resistance and as little effort as a person on land would. Gwyn observed her new environment, a good distance to her right, in the direction of daisuke island was a series of small stone-like structures that seemed to have once been the seats of the arena. To her left was an unusual sight. There were hundreds of seats carved into the rocky earth, the people of the clan occupied them, there was a clear barrier that protected them from the pressure and dangerous waters.
Glass
It's as if they were dolls in a showcase. They were completely sealed off from harm but could appreciate the action properly. The fighting area or 'ring' was quite spacious, it was about the size of two soccer fields
Apo followed Gwyn's gaze and realized her concern.
"Don't worry, it's extremely strong, the people are safe. It took years to finalise and implement this design." He said, it was difficult to hear his voice and water rushed into his mouth as he spoke, though he didn't seem to mind.
Gwyn and Nishi were handed the weapons for their duel. They were armed with a bow and arrows, three shuriken which were attached to the front of their shirts, and most importantly a Katana, the soul of a samurai. Nobu and Apo left the fighting area and stood by the stands. The Lord signalled the fighters and they sprung into action.
The battle had begun.
Nishi pulled an arrow with his lightning fast hands and loaded it unto his bow, but before he could fire; his bowstring was severed by a shuriken from Gwyn, another separated him from his quiver. He had no time to retrieve the projectiles as his sister lunged towards him at an alarming speed, the water seemed to enhance this move. It's as if it propelled her forward like the wind would to an eagle. She drew two arrows and fired them at Nishi, he dodged. She prepared a third but her entire bow was split in two by a shuriken from Nishi, a few of her fingers would be gone as well if it weren't for her quick reflexes. She was now within striking distance of him and brought her sword towards him with a deadly overhead swing that ripped through the waters with a terrifying sound. Nishi brought his sword up and blocked the attack. They stood there, swords bracing against each other, Gwyn looked Nishi over. Something was off. She checked him again and realized that all his shuriken were missing. But how? He only used one. A sharp pain and a quick glance downwards told her where they were, they were embedded in her abdomen. Nishi took advantage of her lapse in concentration and kicked her in the side of her leg, causing her to fall on her knee. He brought his sword down to cut through her shoulder but it only cut through some of her flesh as she moved backward with great speed. At the same time she used the tip of her Katana to flick wet sand into his eyes. In no time she was on her feet and attacked without relenting, Nishi's eyes were closed but he dodged her swings nonetheless. He relied on his well trained instincts, that wouldn't protect him forever though. Gwyn swung her Katana at his temple, he easily ducked. She wasn't done there however as she went with the momentum of the swing, spinning her entire body 360°, bent her knees and went low, cutting across his right thigh.
Nishi opened his eyes as both he and his sister stepped back. The fight just got underway and they were both injured. In a fight like this they would both be breathing heavier by now, but any breathing, relaxed or heavy was not an option. The fighters peered at each other, they both knew.
It wouldn't be an easy battle.
