Until my lungs couldn't take me running anymore I continued to run away from whatever was making that noise before.
I stopped for a bit to catch my breath my legs shaking a bit.
I think whatever was following me isn't anymore.
At least I hope it's not.
But as I looked around I noticed something.
I'm even more lost than I was before....perfect.
Honestly this is getting old, running around this forest with no sense of direction, I wish I could find a map or something.
As soon as that thought crossed my mind a white glowing screen appeared in front of my face.
"Oh my god!", I screamed surprised.
Wha-what in the world is this?!
I tried stepping back but the screen followed me.
I looked around to see if this is some kind of prank or joke, but unfortunately, I was alone.
Screens don't just pop up in thin air like that right?!
I squinted my eyes a bit to look at the screen when something surprising caught my eyes.
It's a map.
"What??", I said amazed and confused.
A full detailed map was on the bright screen, and showed a forest that said "Grove Forest".
Looking closer I saw a blue dot on the screen that was right in the middle of the forest.
W-what kind of technology is this??
I don't remember this.
....although I do seem to have amnesia, so going off my memory is pretty useless.
But still....
I closely inspected the screen and saw that on the top of the map it said "MAP".
Gee, I never would have guessed.
How did it even appear???
Is this something that normally happens?
No, no because that would be insane, helpful, but insane.
Un, what now?
I think it's showing me where I am, but how do I get out of here?
A small ping-like sound rang in my head startling me.
Green dashed lines that led from the blue dot to outside the forest appeared on the screen.
O-oh.
I see, that blue dot is me.
And the dashed green lines is the route I need to get out of here.
Note to self: ask for help in your head more often.
This entire situation is weird, but I don't want to think about it too much or I'll get a headache.
For now, I think I should follow this route the map gave me, seeing as it's my only knowledge about this forest.
Alright, let's go!
....how do I close this thing?
Maybe asking will do it?
Here goes.
"G-go away....please?"
In a quick flash, the map was gone from my view.
"Woah," I say still astonished.
I snapped out of my daze, having a goal to achieve.
Alright, I need to follow that route and make my way out of this forest.
Then find someone who can help me, and hopefully, I can take a bath.
Hehe~
And with that, I started my pursuit out of this large forest.
On the way, I decided to try out calling for the map for practice purposes.
If it's here I might as well try to get some type of use out of it.
And just as I wanted it to pop up, it did.
I did that for a while to keep my mind occupied.
I even tried asking it if it knew my name or who I am, but all it did was show me the map of the forest.
I did have some high expectations, but I suppose I can't wish for everything.
Oh well, as disappointing as that is I guess I'll have to find that out on my own.
The fact that I'm able to call up a map brings me to the question, can everyone do this?
I get that I have missing memories and all, but I still know some pretty basic stuff.
Like money, language, math, science, culture, food, technology, and other things. Nothings' missing I believe.
But if I can remember those basic things, then why can't I remember being able to pull up a map out of thin air?
The only conclusion I can bring myself to is that it must be new, right?
Either way, whenever I find someone I'll be sure to ask them about it.
Hopefully, they don't think I'm crazy and put me in some mental asylum.
Ughhh.
It's hot.
Even though I'm wearing shorts I'm still hot.
Well, I am wearing a long sleeve shirt, but it's super thin. Cotton, I believe.
I don't want to take my shirt off. What if I encounter someone and their first impression of me is some wandering half-naked homeless dude??
Oof, that would be embarrassing.
I'll just have to bear with it a little longer, I looked on the map and saw a blue dot moving towards the outskirts of the forest.
I'm 2/3 of the way there.
Please let me find a police officer or something.
Maybe someone who knows me filed a missing person report?
I can only hope.
Ah.
I made it to another clearing in the forest.
I checked the map in fear that I went in a circle and ended up back where I started, but I was on track.
Hmm.
Maybe I should rest here for a couple of minutes, my legs are sore and I'm exhausted.
Luckily there was a nice big rock hill near the center that would serve as a nice resting point.
As I sat down the tension my legs were holding was free.
Ahhh.
Sweet relief.
As I finally had time to sit and relax, I was able to appreciate the beauty of this weird forest.
I could hear the soft chirping of birds in the distance and even a cicada.
A soft breeze brushed past my exposed legs, tickling them.
Hm?
Weird.
I didn't feel that breeze on my face, plus that breeze was a little....warm?
At that moment I wish I didn't look down.
Underneath me was a rock-like creature with features that resembled something of a face.
It had a few mossy patches and now that I look at it a bit more, I realized that I'm not sitting on a rocky hill.
My body froze in horror as I still felt the light breathing from the creature.
I made no movement what so ever, in fear of waking whatever it was up.
What was I supposed to do in this moment?
Scream?
Run?
That would have been stupid, it would've woken up.
Calming my nerves down and trying my hardest to stop myself from shaking, I took what courage I had left to lightly and quietly get up as best as I could and walk away from this giant thing.
I stepped lightly on the ground where there weren't many leaves and felt grateful to step on grass again.
I shifted my body weight slowly and got off the huge creature successfully.
That entire time the giant beast was in bliss ignorance, completely unaware that a person came up to it without a care in the world and used it as a stool.
If I was used as a stool I wouldn't be happy.
I stepped away from the creature slowly.
When I was far enough I was able to assess it's entire figure.
*A S S E S S I N G*
W-wah?!
A voice spoke up out of nowhere freezing me in place.
I heard it loud and clear, but the creature didn't I believe.
Was it in my head???

A white screen popped up just like the map did, and gave me a full list of things that I couldn't understand.
What??!!
At that moment, I felt a light shake from the ground.
The creature turned it's head in my direction its eyes lighting up a green color.
It's awake.
I instantly felt death from it's aura.
"Oh shi-"
