Chapter 7 - An Idle?

Once she apologized I was a bit confused as to what she was talking about. Her appearance threw me off even more. She had vibrant pink hair, a small delicate frame, and bright green eyes that looked up at me. She looked like a small child, maybe 10 or 11?

I know that it's common for people to dye their hair but seeing her pink hair threw me off a bit.

"U-Um, I'm sorry! I didn't mean for that arrow to hit you! Forgive me!" She says bowing low.

Wtf??? She fired that arrow at me?! Isn't she a kid??? She looks like she wouldn't hurt a fly!!

"W-What are you even doing with a bow and arrow?" I ask her a bit taken aback. I looked at her once more and saw her bow slung across her back along with her quiver.

"I was practicing my curve shots and my concentration broke." She said hesitantly looking on the verge of crying. Crap, people are starting to look. The pointed ear guy even rose an eyebrow to me as if scolding me about making her cry. Seriously??? This is my fault!??...now I don't regret making his ears red.

"I-It's fine! Thank you for apologizing, just be more careful next time!" I say putting on a small fake smile trying to cheer her up. I never want kids.

"Oh! That's good, I thought you would be more-!!" She stopped mid-sentence with a surprised look which made me alert and confused. She looked at me more carefully and made a light gasp.

"I know you!!" She says with a small smile. Wait. WHAT!

"Y-You do!?!?!" I ask her even more surprised and a bit grateful. I change my mind, I want kids.

"Yeah! You were the guy in a coma that I and a couple of others tried to heal you with light magic!" She explains smiling.

Oh.

Is it too late to take back that I do want kids???

I didn't voice my discontent towards her explanation but I suppose the look on my face voiced it more loudly. I didn't want people to know that I have amnesia for the fear of being taken advantage of, so I needed to play it off.

"Oh yeah! Thank you for trying to heal me" I say with a light smile. By now I'm pretty sure at least half of the encampment were listening in on our conversation. How could they not? This girl talks so loud that everyone can hear her. Her squeaky voice makes my ears want to bleed.

"Wait that means you're the guy who took out the golem right?" The elf eared guy asks me. Since when did you want to join the conversation? I wanted to end this conversation and walk away from her but seeing as people were looking at me awaiting my answer, that wouldn't be ideal.

"Umm...yeah, that was me. Hehe," I say hesitantly. I didn't know what their reaction would be but I hoped that they would believe me and move on. Turns out they totally believed me because the next second I was swarmed by people surrounding me. They all asked questions like, "How did you do it?" and "What was it like?". Basically, questions that made my headache come back. I think the elf ear guy noticed and put a hand on my shoulder pulling me lightly back towards him. I snuck a glance at him to find him looking at me with worry. He really didn't have to do that. At least it took my thoughts off everyone crowding around me.

When I focused again I found the crowd starting to part and starting to get quieter as a figure made their way through. Once they reached the front where I was, I realized the figure was Freya. Everyone was quiet, all their questions stopped, making me a bit tense. Her words cut through the silence like a swift blade.

"I thought I told you to stay out of trouble?". She looked pissed, but I can't tell if she's mad or if that's just her face. Either way, her words were aimed at me but I was weirdly not affected by her intimidation.

"I haven't gotten into trouble, I can go wherever I want," I say defiantly. I refuse to be scolded like a child.

The majority of the crowd gasped and started talking in light whispers. What's their problem?

"Dude, I can't believe that kid just talked back to Freya! He just made his own funeral" I hear someone whisper to their friend. I see, people really are intimidated by her. I can see why. She seems like the type to kick a*s without breaking a sweat.

While I was patting myself on the back, it seemed Freya didn't take kindly to my retaliation. Her eyes narrowed and before I knew it she grabbed my arm and started dragging me back to my tent pushing through the crowd.

"Um, this is kidnapping! Hello!! Let go of me!! You all see this right? This is abuse!! Ow ow ow, my rib!!! My poor CRACKED rib!!! OHHH the pain, it hurts!!" My protest went towards deaf ears. Elf boy sent me a sympathetic looked but smiled a bit. I think he enjoys this. At least someone finds my theatrics amusing.

"Haha, hey. You think the kid and Freya are a thing?" Someone asks from within the crowd.

"HELL NO!!" I scream at the crowd before being dragged into the tent.

....Me...and....FREYA???...I'd rather suffocate.

I'd choose the elf guy WAYYYY before I would even THINK of being with Freya. I will say she is beautiful, any guy that has her will be lucky. If they can get over the raging b*tch part.

After I was forcibly dragged back into the tent, I winced at the pain in my abdomen. The pain is dying down but it's still annoying me.

"Strip" Freya says.

".....f*ck no"

Her eyes narrowed and in response, I yelled out.

"SEXUAL ASSA-!" A hand came over my mouth scaring me. Freya looked royally pissed now but still had a calm tone which unsettled me even more.

"I'm changing your bandages, now stop whining and screaming like a banshee and take off your shirt," She says in a demanding tone. Her eyes had a cold ferocity in them which made me comply without hesitation. Okay, she is a little intimidating.

I took off my white long-sleeved shirt which revealed a shocking scenery. My entire bare chest and abdomen had faded black intricate markings on it, just like my legs. I was at a loss for words but Freya instantly got to work. But I was too lost in my own world to look at what she was doing.

Was I a tattoo addict or something? Why do I have all these markings on my body?

I felt goosebumps on my skin as I followed the markings from my arms to my bare chest. I felt like my skin was crawling, I didn't know if I liked the feeling or not. I didn't realize a weirdly comfortable silence had fallen between me and Freya. After a short while, she had broken the comfortable silence with a question that caught me off guard.

"Did you really defeat that golem?" She asks skeptically while applying an ointment to my slightly bruised side.

Out of everyone, she doesn't believe that I took that thing out. Everyone else believed me, why is she so skeptical?

I....think that since there was someone that used magic, I'm guessing that everyone can use it. So there's no harm in telling her that I used magic to defeat the creature, right? At least that's my theory. Might as well test it.

"I um....used magic? I think to defeat it. It's hard to explain." I say in an unsure tone. But her only reply was a scoff which made me confused.

"Why the scoff?" I ask a bit annoyed. What's her deal?

"If you're going to lie, at least come up with something believable," She says in an annoyed tone.

Believable??? I definitely did not imagine shooting out some blue energy, I may have had a concussion, but I was definitely wide awake.

"What I did to that thing definitely looked like magic....I think" I say unsure. I don't really know what magic is like. I've only got my own experience. So I can't say I'm the expert.

"Well, I THINK, you are mistaken. You can't do magic, you're an Idle" She says in a distant tone.

"Idle? Huh???" I ask confused. I'm not familiar with that label.

"...You, seriously don't know what an Idle is?" She asks incredulously. Oh wait, can't make it seem like I have amnesia.

"No, no. I know what an Idle is, duh. Just didn't think you knew the definition of the word" I say condescendingly. I think I have her figured out somewhat. She gets pretty annoyed easily. So going off that, if I challenge her knowledge she's bound to accept that challenge and spill the beans, right? I'm a genius!

She sighs and starts mumbling something under her breath while tying my new bandages. Something about "trivial questions".

Hehe, got her.

"An Idle is a person that doesn't have MP which means they can't do magic at all." She says begrudgingly.

Hmm. They can't do magic? That sucks. From what I remember, magic is like the coolest thing ever! Never really understood why the hero always carried a sword and never used magic. They'd be a hundred times cooler and more efficient in battle.

"Well, how can I be an "Idle" if I CAN use magic? Some type of blue energy shot out of me and into the golem and BLAM! I blew up one of its arms" I explain to her. But looking at her face she had a stern look on while wrapping my bandages not even paying me any attention. How mature.

"Well since you seem unconvinced. Why not a demonstration?" I tell her smugly. She glances at me still done with giving me attention. I'll show her who's right.

Now, what was the name of the thing I did? It popped up in front of me when I was fighting that golem.

Wait, what about the system thing from earlier?
