Rou Lang walked out of the residence. She was eager to explore the depths of heavens and see if it is truly a paradise. When she looked up in the sky, she was mesmerized at the new beauty presented in front of her. The skies were blue, unlike the red skies of her world. And clouds and thick fogs are hovering just meters above mountains and hills. There were less trees in here. But the grassfields were so vast. For kilometers, grasses covers the entire land. There were also various flowers scattered. Most are large, about the size of a watermelon, and wafts their pleasant aroma in the surroundings. There were also tall mushrooms, nearly as big as trees. Rou Lang has never seen such large mushroom. And cows and goats, herds of them grazing among the fields. Even wolfs and lions are among them. But non of them is attacking the herbivours. It's like all animals here are friends after all.
A single trail was cleared and Rou Lang followed the trail whilst admiring the nature. So it was really a paradise! Seeing the long pathway, stretching for miles, she decided to run instead. Running is a good exercise to improve her stamina which she needs greatly. It was part of foundation she must build if she wants to practice martial arts. Usually, she would already be gasping for breath after two minutes run, but the breathing technique really helps a lot. By focusing on a certain pattern of breathing, fatique was ignored and so was muscle strain. She runs for dozens of minutes before she found out that the sun is barely moving.
And at the end of the trail, up a hill, she was to witness a sight to behold.
"Wow."
"Down below, to the vast plains between the mountains, a megacity! Citadels surrounds the wholeness, near hundred meters tall walls. Beyond those walls were towering buildings, pagodas, temples, and houses rowed for kilometers. Dividing the city is a great river. Wide roads were built, intersecting as they ascend or descend to highways. This was the definition of a high class city not the mortals can create.
As she entered the open gates, hundreds of people welcomed her gaze. There were commoners, wealthy businessmen, mercenaries, adventurers, or just civilians who works at this busy state where no one cares about each other. She easily blended among the crowds going to and fro. Strange vehicles with four wheels occasionaly runs the street. Rou Lang must admit those were the coolest vehicles she's ever seen.
Plastered across the buildings were what it seems to be rectangle screens which projected images and scenes. Complex runes were installed to produce such holograms. Everywhere she go, lights were blinding yet strikingly awesome.
"Wow! I can't believe such an advanced civilization exists."
"Hurhur. These were just one of the many city here in the heavens. In the higher realm, they have much more amazing equipments and machineries that enabled various possibilities. Look at those vehicles for instance. They are called automobiles. They work through the power of electricity and motor engines. The making of such is advanced but in here, we have many cultivators specialize in creating. They do not require too much runes to create such. They just need brain. In here, power is not always measured by cultivation rank, but also popularity, respect, or wealth. Thus, even a commoner with an extremely outstanding talent can be so popular. Explore more of the places. You have very much to learn. Only by accumulating experience can you improve."
Rou Lang nodded and eagerly went to other places. There were parks and fountains, where children are mostly buystanding around.
"Brother, why are you throwing coins on the fountain?", she asked one.
"Ah, it is believed that your wishes will come true if you throw in a coin. Here, you can have one. Whisper your wishes on it and throw it in."
"Thank you, but I rather buy this food. I'm hungry."
"Haha. You cannot buy anything with that single coin. Here, take this. Go buy some snacks for yourself."
"Thank you!"
The money used here was not copper nor silver nor gold, though they can be exchanged, the most common credit used is yuan. But prices here was sky high. One stick of grilled meat costs five yuan. And she only have twenty-one yuan. She was eager to buy food but she decided to save it for later.
"Ah wait. I have an idea."
When no one is looking, she grabbed some coins on the fountain. Aha! She've got six coins. Three one yuan coins and three five yuan coins. She was about to grab some more but someone hit her head.
"Ouch!"
"What are you doing?", said a teenage boy with red hair. His clothes were awesome too. Especially his jacket is cool.
"I'm just... washing my hands."
He studied her. Based from her beggar-looking dress,"You're lying."
"No, I'm not."
"You are lying", he insisted.
"No, I'm not!", she shook her head.
"But you are lying."
"But I'm not." She crossed her hands.
"Yes you are."
"Why? What do you think I'm doing?"
"Uhm... never mind. You are Qin Xuan, right? What are you doing in a place like this? And where are your bodyguards? And why are you dressed like that? Did something happen to you?"
The boy's many questions confused her. Qin Xuan?
"Have me met before?"
"Come on. I'm Xavier, your best buddy. It's only about two months. Have you forgotten about me."
Rou Lang really was confused. He must have mistaken her for someone.
"Yes."
He rolled his eyes in a cute manner. "All right then, I'll take you back to your house, Miss Xuan." He grabbed ahold of her hand and pulled her.
"No, wait. I... kyaah!!" Yep. All girls get clumsy when being held by handsome boys. She tripped and her face came smacking on the ground.
Xavier immediately pulled her. "Qin Xuan, are you okay?"
"Ouch..." she clutched her nose and forehead.
"Yes, I'm fine."
"I don't think so. Your nose is bleeding. And you've got a big bump on your forehead."
"Huh?" She touched her nose. Blood was indeed dripping. So... so many blood. She paled and her legs are giving up.
"Tsk! Still clumsy as always. Let's get you fixed up!" He carried her on his back. Rou Lang lay weakly. She felt she was about to pass out. Especially since the smell of this guy really is alluring. It was nice and hypnotizing. She tightened her hold on his neck. She didn't noticed him slightly smiling.
"Hang on. We're almost there."
One thing Rou Lang noticed is his unique accent. It seems Chinese is not his native language. And his hair is short and spiking up, just like Master Lei Jian. His skin is also powder-white and he's definitely taller although he looked younger. He was similar to Master Levi in some ways. The two reached a distance, eyes were drawn to them. Walking to a more remote location, the two reached an estate.
"Here we are."
A mansion was noticeably aesthetic. With three floors and white painted walls, the mansion was an art of craft, uniquely designed specifically for the pleasure of living? The lot around it was much wider. A garden planted with flowers and vegetables are tended by gardeners. Two bodyguards by the gate opened the entrance to let them in.
"Woah!"
"Beautiful is it? Uncle Sam helped me renovate the house and even hired maids and bodyguards. Now, the house doesn't look too shaggy anymore, yeah?"
"Yes. You live here alone?"
He chuckled. "Of course I live alone, excluding the maids and guards. Why? Who do you expect I'm living with?" The door was opened, they got in.
The interior was much more beautiful. It was a big hallway decorated with much glasses like those chandeliers. Various paintings and artworks hung by the walls. Richly crafted wooden tables and chairs, and antique Chinese vases at the corners. Even the tiles were lustrous and shiny! So clean and bright! How can a single person live alone in such a beautiful house?
Xavier layed her on the sofa. So comfy! He ordered the maids to fetch water and first aid kit. Rou Lang got a better look of the surroundings. Not an inch is left unclean. The windows were just so clear that they appear invisible. Then her eyes landed on him.
She can't describe much about him, except that he is handsome and cute.
"Disciple, better not think something naughty. You know your Master Levi might get angry to you. Oh yeah, he's not awake. He's still cultivating. We take turns in guarding you. Rou Lang, I think I've sensed something tasty. Where? Hmm... It's not food. There's something here that radiates with earth energy. If you find that one, you could use it for cultivation. By the way, that Xavier guy is acting weird. I'm pretty sure he does not know you but he acts as if he does. Beware of him. He must be planning something."
Rou Lang disagrees. Xavier seems a nice guy, not threatening at all. But she still wouldn't trust him so easily. Maybe he really mistaken him for this Qin Xuan or something.
The first aid kit came. Xavier hastilly opened it and grabbed some cotton.
"Here, let me clean it up." As he wipes her nose, she got a better look at him. He was way more handsome. Especially his eyes are very attracting. They are drawing her into the abyss of dumbstruckness.
But the voice of her Master woke her.
"I think I know where it is! The medallion!"
